Oh, Thank Og, they're redoing It

Unfortunately the perfect choice (IMO) for “Speedy” is no longer with us.

I thought that was a great scene when I first read the book. Of course, I was in the seventh grade at the time. NailBunny and I must be about the same age, since I read the book about a year before the mini-series premiered.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a remake of this movie - it took me close to ten years to watch the original mini-series all the way through, though. Back in late '90 I bailed after part one and the writing in blood in the bathtub.

Is everybody remembering the mention that During Ben’s turn Bev feels an odd wetness between her legs and doesn’t know if she’s bleeding or if he’s ejaculated?

I just checked IMDB and yep, I was 13 on the nose when it came out. I remember I did my fifth grade book report on It and got quite a scolding from the teacher for not picking appropriate material.

I actually have a VHS copy of the old mini-series at home. Some parts of it are not-too-bad, I’ve just never been able to get past the horrible casting choices and the crap-ass spider at the end.

It is one of my favourite Stephen King novels. I know most people don’t agree with me…I think I benefited greatly from being pretty much the same age as the children in the book when I read it for the first time. The monsters were genuinely scary. The part with Bev that everyone keeps talking about did not seem strange to me in the slightest. The children, those characters, were just so real to me, I felt like I was right there with them and I bawled like a baby whenever anything happened to any of them. That feeling has never really left me, I still enjoy the book when I re-read it as much today as I did back then.

Judging from the promos, the Denbrough brothers and Pennywise–presumably others from Derry as well–will be a central part in the second season of Haven!

I really enjoyed It and was bitterly disappointed with the miniseries - too bad it looks like the plan to take a better crack at it fell though through.
Is Haven worth watching? This is the first I’ve heard of it.

The first season was a rather spotty “weird occurrence of the week” thing but the second season is looking up with indications of spreading “The Troubles” to Derry.

I’m still wondering if the Haven in the series is the same Haven as in The Tommyknockers.
