Anyone who wants such a perfect (and expensive) wedding will be divorced in three years.

Cynthia is inviting **675** people to her wedding ($250 for mail of wedding invites). She obviously is inviting everyone she has met or worked with for the last few years. Wow with that kind of numbers, I expect an invite soon.
Don’t worry Cynthia, I am sure all of us dopers will get our checks to you right after we get all of that info to those poor needy public officials from Nigeria.

Oh, she’s bothered about money and wants to stay out of debt, but she wants to spend a shitload on her wedding, and she wants other people, complete strangers to pay for it. Very noble of her.

Let’s examine this further…
1. At 37¢ per stamp, there are 675 invitations going out. Surely she isn’t sending couples or families individual invitations. Let’s be conservative and calculate 2 people per invitation. That’s 1350 guests.
2. She does mention that she flies to London for business, and has frequent flier miles. So, to be fair, let’s assume she’s sending out 50 invitations overseas at 80¢. That would be $40 for international guests; leaving 567 domestic stamps (1134 American guests, 100 Overseas guests). Bringing the total to 1184 guests.
3)This is assuming that her budget “wedding invites” ONLY include wedding invites. However, she did mention “save the dates”. If the stamp budget is for both, we’re back down to: 675 American guests, or 50 Overseas $80 and 459 American guests.
So MINIMUM (best case scenario here) is 509 people being invited. Maximum is 1134 (calculating 2 people per invite). So here we have Cynthia crying poor, with 500 people being invited. And do you want to know WHY? There’s only one reason you invite that many people. Make that two. You’re Lady Diana and really excited. OR … For gifts and money, honey. (Maybe to pay for that new house with the white picket fence she wants).

**Ilsa\_Lund** I am often amazed at how stupid people will be, not that you would be, but hey you never know. 🙂 That girl who wanted people to pay off her credit card got a bunch of suckers, and considering some of the emails my friends send me, eek-- I know they actually believe they are gonna get money from Bill Gates.

Met me state the bleeding obvious: asking other people for money is not a sign of “taking responsibility,” any more than it is when any fuckup rich kid asks his dad for more dough because he blew all his allowance. Even if she did get enough dumb asses to give her money, I guaranfuckingtee you that she’ll spend the money instead of paying off her credit cards. Giving her money not only cheats yourself (or more deserving, authentic charities) of the money, it cheats this woman he fiance of maturity. It’s actually wrong to give them money, and bad for society, since by making it work it promises an advent of greedy little monsters trying to get rich quick off of websites with their life stories.
If you want to give away $100, give it to your local food shelter or something.

My prior post is not directed to anyone that has paid more than 150 bucks for a wedding, but to those that paid more than they could afford be that 150 or 20,000. I just don’t get it.
