Has anybody round here heard the phrase "One Eyed Cantabrian’? It describes the Canterbury rugby supporters who are famously parochial. But they hold absolutely nothing on some of the partisanship that is going on round here. I mean, all jokes aside and parochialism aside, to compare Obama’s speaking skills to Palin’s is like comparing a Lotus Exige to an Austin Allegro. Or maybe its like comparing an AC Cobra to an AMC Gremlin. Its all well and good to support your sides policies and arguments, but for the love of all that is plainer than a dogs balls please acknowledge reality. ---

These “palinotologists” remind me of that book, _The World According to Garp_ where those women cut out their tongues in support of some poor victim or some such. (it’s been 30 years since I read the book and I’m not about to go back and find the exact details). I find I am embarrassed for women of a certain age. I am fast becoming of that age, but couldn’t be further from them in mindset. Does it come with menopause? :eek: ---

Is “plainer than dogs’ balls” a common phrase? Is it “_a_ dog\*\*'s\*\* balls” or “dogs’ balls”? Used primarily for emphasis “dogs’ balls it’s hot!” or as an expression of exasperation “for the love of all…”? Is the prefix typically attached? Can it be combined – “cat’s nuts, it’s shakier than a dog’s balls!”? Sorry … _something_ good has to come out of all this Palin-talk. No, wait. She _did_ warn us about Big Media. I wonder if that was part of her Fox contract or if she thought of that all by herself? Dogs’ balls that woman knows how to massage her base! (BTW **Fuzzy Dunlop** , all that was just a Crimson Tide reference. No fun uses.) ---

All four candidates last year had other jobs and would have had to give them up if elected. That’s normal in presidential elections - it was also true of Bush and Lieberman in 2000 and the two challengers in 2004. Everybody knew that from the beginning. The issue is that Palin is quitting her job as governor not because she got elected to another position, but because she doesn’t feel like doing it anymore. ---

Oh, stop picking on her, you mean **Marley** you!\* She has a son in the military. And a special needs child! And other kids as well. She’s a busy woman and all, you betcha! \*by picking on a palinotologist, you pick on her as well. This hate fest for this dedicated American patriot has got to stop. She stands for attending multiple bastions of higher education, shooting wolves from helicopters (so she doesn’t muss her “do”), dragging her kids hither and yon so that they miss a significant amount of school, those who read ALL newspapers and magazines, and moms who turn into grandmas too soon. There’s a LOT to be proud of there. ---

It reminds me of the scene in _Life of Brian_ when a bunch of disciples gather outside Brian’s window because they think he’s the messiah. His message is basically that they should go forth, live their own lives, have their own ideas, and not just blindly follow what anyone says. “And then what, messiah?” is the reply. That’s what I think of when a self-professed Palintologist claims that she shares Palin’s “maverick attitude”. ---
