I’ve been mildly productive today, I suppose. I was just over at Scottish Darling’s place watching the BBC miniseries Jane Eyre when I got a call from N (one of our friends), who was very very drunk and insisted I call D (another one of our friends) and tell him to “get his ass over here [the local bar].” Oh, and to get my ass over while I was at it, because “you are small and Korean.” 😕 I obligingly gave D a ring, but he never picked up, so I called N back and tried to make him understand that neither of us were going to go to the bar tonight. Thankfully N wasn’t alone; J (yet another friend) pried the phone from his drunken hands and I managed to have a more coherent conversation with him. :rolleyes: Tomorrow is Friday - yay! It’s been a long week and I’ve never been so grateful to see it end. ---

Morning, all! Oh, I’m so glad it’s Friday, it seems to have been a very long week. So far today I’ve compiled a report on the various numbers of different sorts of students we’ve had on our Golf programmes (yes, we really do have degree programmes in golf) for someone. After that, I put together and ran a mailing for a bunch of people who’re having a partnership meeting between us and the University of Worcester, just got those signed off and am ready to stuff envelopes. Once that’s done, I have to sort out lunch and stuff for these very worthy individuals. That involves sorting out who’s paying for it so I can charge it to the right budget centre and then I get to choose which one of the buffet selections they get. Woo and Hoo. Then I get to amuse myself for the afternoon, and after work I’m off to meet a friend who’s just come back from a 3-week work trip to China, Hong Kong and Singapore. She’s been dropping not-very-subtle hints about my late birthday present. I hope it’s something safe! ---

My back is in very bad shape. I have no idea how I will fare on the 5 hour drive to see my family tomorrow. Yesterday was [The World’s Cutest Baby[sup]TM[/sup]](http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b75/anyrose/image003.jpg)'s first birthday, so we’re having a big party for him on Sunday. I suppose he should now be called The World’s Cutest Toddler[sup]TM[/sup] because he is toddling all over the place these days. ---

But you knew that 😃 Swissboss has told me that he’s spoken with “someone from the business” (who had reported or complained, I’m not really sure, that I had “communication problems” a while back) and this someone says I’m doing much better, so they’re deigning lengthen my contract by 6 months. I’ve told him before I accept this, IF I do accept this, I need to know what exactly is it they propose, for example, “what’s going on with France?” “Uh, France?” “Germanboss said there were talks of having me in the team there part time” According to him he’d just heard of this for the first time :rolleyes: and I’d have to go “maybe one or two days a week”. That’s the same they were saying about Germany, and it turned out to be 4 days. The 4 days I don’t mind, since Germanboss is good and he’d be in charge in France, but the utter lack of ability to talk straight depresses me. Germanboss was talking about 3 days, maybe 4. I shouldn’t be so damn nice, should have waited until they said “oh by the way, we’re prolonguing” something like the day before the end of my contract and just looked surprised 😛 ---

Hi, all! I am wasting time on the computer putting off swabbing the Travertine. It has been a while and I know it needs a swabbing but you really can’t tell to look at it. After that it’s clean up and run to the liberry to exchange books. Then motor down to the Depot for Mr. Anachi’s birfday present. It will NOT be the Rolex he requested. Sheesh! As if!! Following the Depot will be a trip to the market for chop-chop as **taters** says. Not sure what yet. Steak will be the default selection. **rosie** , you’re not having a very good week, are you? **nava** , I’d be outta there, if it were me. No party, alas. People came in and interrupted. We’re out of paper again. All we have left is what’s in various printers and the copier. I had to borrow paper out of my printer so I could make copies. This isn’t really a very organized operation here. Someone will have to make a supply run, since there’s no way we can get along without paper. If I had time, I would call the people who send us the nuisance faxes and tell them to stop. All it does is waste paper. Back to taxes! ---

Ahhh. I’ve been slacking all week. Didn’t do my MMP duties, didn’t work much, and today’s my birthday. So I took the day off. I’m going for a hike, then a mid-afternoon movie, then out to dinner with the family. I’m not on for Monday. ---

Happy b-day, **Welby**! I’m up and caffeinating. I called in “still too injured” to therapy again this morning; my knee is still really swollen, and turning all kinds of pretty colors, particularly sickly green in addition to black and blue. So I guess that means I should be working here at home. I guess I will. Eventually. Papa Tigs just called. The Big Boss (as in the Prez) is visiting his location today, so it’s Insanity Day. Did you know that when the Prez is in a building, they have to shut down the elevators for security reasons? And Papa Tigs’ office is on the sixth floor. Sounds like he’ll get his exercise. 😃 And since the Big Boss is visiting the soldiers’ barracks today, they have to completely empty out the parking lot underneath the barracks. This on a facility that has less than zero available parking to begin with. Oy. So he got up at 4 am and went in early enough to make sure he could get a space. He may be crazy but he ain’t dumb. He also had a close encounter with a German Shepherd a few minutes ago. A whole squad of dogs were doing a security sweep, and apparently one of them smelled our two Idiots on Papa Tigs. So he got sniffed up and down by a tail-wagging, friendly dog who was embarrassing his handler by smelling for dog instead of bomb. Oops. 😃 His life is so interesting! I’m thinking it’s so interesting, someone gave him that old Chinese curse early in his life. 😃 ---

Trust me, Spats, a visit from the Prez, yes indeed as in POTUS, is a major pain in the ass. Turns the place upside down. It’s bad enough to get the regular photo op visits from every Congressperson on the Hill, but when the Prez comes it just creates a vortex of utter inability to get _any_ work done. ETA I thought it was a lot cooler last week when Papa Tigs got to meet Barack Obama! ---

**Happy Birthday Welby!!** We don’t have a nickname for **Welby**? I think he needs one for his birthday. I meant to comment earlier, **canineservant** , I loved the Rod the Roomba story. It just cracked me up that he locked himself in the bathroom. Dunno why I found that so funny, but I did. Thanks so much for thinking of me re: appreciation **swampy**. :rolleyes: I really have to learn to just keep my mouth shut on these things in the future. 😛 It really is sad about that suicide. I didn’t know the guy (I was worried when they said alum in his late 20s; that describes most of my friends!) but it’s still sad that no one noticed how depressed he was and tried to help him. KeithT’s home sick-ish today. Not really sick, just achy and tired. Poor guy. And it’s raining buckets here, which doesn’t help. We were supposed to go to the zoo this weekend to see Farm Babies (cute baby sheep, goats, pigs, ducks, rabbits, etc.), but it just looks like it’s going to be a crappy weekend out. If I disappear, it may be that they’ve tightened internet security. They’re restricting access to some sites, but I don’t know what. Hopefully not the Dope! ☹ ---

I just played a prank for April Fool’s Day. I’m sure you’re saying - Meeks, April Fool’s Day is not until Sunday. Well, there’s a reason. My coworker’s husband reads the paper cover to cover every day. Every day I see her buying one from the local cafe for him. He does the entire crossword. Today I bought an extra paper. I left the front cover intact, and went through and carefully cut out various things. Sometimes I cut out articles and left the headlines, or vice versa. I cut out eyeballs from pictures. I cut out someone’s head. I cut the punch lines out of all the comics. I cut half the clues out of the crossword and left the other half. Then I cut out the very center of last week’s solutions. Heh - I gave her the whole paper, looking normal, with instructions to give this one to him first. And the reason why today? Well I won’t see her again until Monday, obviously.
