Sentenced to 15 years. Up for parole in 6. I don’t think he’ll get parole. Especially not after the warden puts him on the prison football team with Burt Reynolds. The only question now is: Who will be keeping our nation’s golf courses free of machete wielding killers? ---

If the jury had stepped up to the plate in 1994 we wouldn’t even be having this conversation, but since they didn’t, I’d say this is a good make-up call. I wonder what Fred Goldman thinks about this. Is OJ going to be able to pay his renumerations from the pokey? ---

I don’t know what he thinks, though, but I’m sure he’s getting _some_ pleasure out of it, and I bet an interview with him outside of the courthouse will be on TV sometime today. ETA: And, from what I understand, he wasn’t giving them the money anyway. ---

OJ broke the law, and is being sentenced for it. The fact that his prior conduct may be used to make his punishment more severe is what is supposed to happen. At trial, the courts try very hard to make sure the decision is based on the evidence of that case alone, and not any prior bad acts of the defendant. Sentencing, however, is (and should be) about determining the proper amount of punishment (and rehab and deterrence, etc) for an individual person. And that determination is done on the basis of the kind of person the defendant is. OJ, although acquitted, is a murderer; and I have no problem with him being sentenced for these crimes as if he was a murderer. ---

You have it all wrong. OJ has checked that the real killer(s) were not on any of America’s Golf Courses or anywhere else in public. Since they weren’t out in public it only stands to reason that the bad guy(s) must be hiding within the Criminal Justice system. Now he’s checking in the prison system. If he just went in without a cover story he’d never get the real truth. Now he can finally clear up the mystery that has haunted us all of these years. Everything I know I learned from Fox Television. ---

The judge was very careful to say that the sentence was imposed for only this crime and not for anything else. And she said a great many other things and she dragged it out as long as possible so she could be on TV as long as possible and she said Mr. Simpson, your sentence is . . . going to be imposed in a minute as soon as I lecture you some more. And she was drinking from a paper cup with a plastic straw! ---

What I don’t get is why there are people saying the felt sorry for Sarah Palin being in over her head but no one is saying they feel sorry for O.J. After all, Sarah meant to run for and wanted to be Vice President but O.J. says he didn’t want to steal from _anyone_. Won’t somebody think of the thieves and murderers? Good one, ShibbOleth!
