An apology is most definitely necessary. **DtL** ’s original post, the one which started this entire issue, is an insult to every person who _did_ have family members die in the Holocaust. It is an insult to them because it paints them as using that fact as a shield to hide behind when they’ve screwed up. And rather than take a step back and try to objectively decide as to whether he erred, **DtL** decided to push forward as hard as he could upon the issue, brazenly denying he had done anything that could even be _seen_ as wrong, and deciding that those who were offended were either hateful or lacking in a sense of humor. Quite frankly, if something I had said had offended over five dozen people, I might think that I had actually made an error. I feel sorry for **DtL** , too oblivious and self-righteous to ever be anything other than a self-justifying asshole. I expect his tombstone will read, “Dammit! It was just _satire_!” Maybe by then, he will have learned what that word means. BTW, **INTERPRETER** - we aren’t really a close-knit community here, and we don’t all band together and stand with each other when one of us is attacked. In fact, many times, we’ll just stand back and enjoy the sparks. Were you to read some old threads, or maybe lurk for a while, you might come to realize that when this many people are up in arms over the remarks of another poster, generally that other poster made an extremely egregious mistake. ---
