I’d recommend [Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire](http://www.dominic-deegan.com/view.php?date=2002-05-21), which is, unfortunately, defunct, although it did come to an actual ending. I miss that comic… ---

**The Last Halloween** by Abby Howard - it’s a horror comic and I’ll warn you the imagary can be tough to deal with. But it’s all very beautiful and darky funny. The story is about a girl, Mona, trying to deal with the end of of the world brought on by the Undead who have killed the One who holds back the monster, mostly because they are tired of his bullshit. > **[The Last Halloween](https://www.last-halloween.com/posts/1)** > > Abby Howard's The Last Halloween. Where it's Halloween and there is a girl and some monsters and she has to fight them. Abby also does **Junior Scientist Power Hour** , which is more silly and twisted than horror, although it’s sometimes really horrific. [http://www.jspowerhour.com/](http://www.jspowerhour.com/) Dark stuff, but well worth a try. Speaking of dark - I’ve also started watching **Follow the Leader** - by Jonas McCluggage > **[follow the leader](https://followtheleaderwebcomic.tumblr.com/post/92062115431/follow-the-leader-by-jonas-goonface-i-am-jonas)** > > Follow the Leader by Jonas Goonface. > I am Jonas Goonface. this is my comic, this is my song. updates here and there. This is developing slowly but the art is beautiful. In his words, it’s about feral cannibal kids fighting the mafia. Sort of. As antidote to the horror - I’ve also started reading **Breaking Cat News**. Here’s a recent favorite of that, but do start from the beginning: > **[Cucumbers have been sneaking up on cats!](http://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/cucumbers-have-been-sneaking-up-on-cats/)** **OOTS** & **Gunnerkrigg** are my favorite comics, atm. ---

Good Lord! How could I forget these two gems? I fully agree. These are two great webcomics. JSPH, especially, has some delightfully offbeat humour. Abby Howard was, I think, the most entertaining participant in Penny Arcade’s [Strip Search](https://www.penny-arcade.com/strip-search/artist/ahoward). A wonderful sense of humour. ---

I second the votes for _Order of the Stick_ and _Gunnerkrigg Court,_ and submit a new one for your consideration: [Faux Pas](http://www.ozfoxes.com/fauxpas.htm). [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/ok-help-me-build-a-new-wecomic-list/743929.md?page=1)
