I didn’t quit Kmart because of my epilepsy – in fact, I didn’t start having seizures until about, oh, four or five years ago? I quit Kmart back in 2002. Mostly because I hated that place so fucking much that I was seriously slacking, my worth ethic there was nil, and I was sobbing at the very thought of going into work. Hell, I was crying AT work. It wasn’t fair to my fellow coworkers. Now, the science center, I loved working there, and I really miss it. It was a great place to work, I liked the people I worked with, and most of the people coming in where HAPPY to be there. (How can you NOT like a job where you’re required to watch laser shows?) BUT, they were laying people off, and I happened to be one of them. ☹ I was having seizures every few weeks before I was let go. I was having my meds adjusted, and naturally I wasn’t capable of working\*. Unfortunately, \*Hell, even with the little ones, I’d have to go sit in the back room. So finally my boss started sending me home when I’d have them, because I’d usually have more than one. Good thing – the day he did, I ended up having a convulsion on the way home – the first one I had had in about six months. Fortunately I never had one of THOSE at work. The closest I came was at the bus stop. And before anyone asks, flashing lights have never bothered me. My triggers are caffeine, illness, and before I was on my meds, really strong odors. ---

Having personally spent some time in an epic **Lindsay Bluth** pit thread, I might be able to shed some light on this as well. She catches shit for reasons similar to those for which **Rachelellogram** received a pit thread still on the front page (although in most respects the two individuals, I gather, couldn’t possibly be more different): in addition to being a know-it-all she is terribly unsympathetic, judgmental, on occasion rather nasty. But shake some “spoiled brat” on top of that as well, with a dash of “succeeding vicariously through the diligence of her parents”. So there you go. ---

Since it was my post quoted in the OP, I should probably weigh in. If you look at what I quoted before I posted what I posted, you’ll see another useless “me too” post. I don’t hate her, at best she mildly annoys me. But after watching her do the same thing over and over again for 10 years, I thought it worth a quick post. If people think I’m a dick for it, so be it. I’ll get over it. By the way, do I get to count this as my first pitting? ---

No, people give **LB** shit because she started an “ask the child of privilege”\* thread that many people interpreted as a stealth brag about how rich her parent were (wrongly, IMHO, but perhaps understandably). Don’t remember exactly what it was. I started the Lindsay pit thread and can say with 100% honesty that the child if money thing was far down on my list of grievances with her. It was absolutely the know-it-all attitude, complete with name-calling and over-the-top insults towards others. That said, I think she has toned things down a huge amount lately. ---

Just in case I haven’t mentioned it before, I also drink Diet Dr Pepper\* with junk food. Does that count as horrible? Oh, and funny you should mention canopy beds – my bed USED to have a canopy. Back when my sister and I started sharing a room, we got new beds, since I had previously had a full bed. I was upset about having to share a room, so my parents said we could have canopy beds. But then when we moved to this house, (when I was around ten), we had to take them down, because the bedrooms all had ceiling fans. So now the posts are down, and it’s just your normal twin bed. Yes, I still have the same bed since I was a kid. It’s still in good shape, and I bought a new mattress and box spring a few years ago. (And even then I had had a new one from when I was a teenager) So, for about four years, I DID have a canopy bed. 😉 No princess phone, though. \*That’s the only kind I can find that’s Caffeine-Free. I know they have regular Caffeine-Free Dr Pepper, but I have yet to find it. ---

I think the problem with **Lindsay** ’s “Ask the Child of Money” thread was that she made it sound like having a nanny and TV in her room and fresh fruit at all times were great privileges, usually only granted to royalty and industrial magnates. It took some reading between the lines, but it seems like the reason all this and colanders too seemed like such a big deal is because her parents emigrated to the US with little or nothing, and worked their way up to the upper middle class. Which is actually something to be proud of, and if she’d titled her thread “Ask the Child of Immigrants Made Good”, I’m fairly certain it would have been well received.
