I’ve been getting alot of rousing lately about me being on Mexican Fat burners so I will come clean and tell you what I am taking.
It is an asthma medication called Clenbuterol. I am taking 5 to 6 pills a day. It is working I am down to 202 this morning from 211 last week. I have cut my calorie intake to 2000/day and no carbs after 2pm. I work out a total of probably 9 to 10 hours a week in HEAVY weight training and cardio. So in otherwords, I am dieting and excercising but I want the extra help to get lean because I want to see what my abs looks like by Memorial Day weekend.
Ok dopers let me have it on what is wrong with Clenbuterol? And do you still consider it(Clen) a Mexican Fat Burner?
The web pages I’ve found seem to indicate that what you’re taking is a Mexican steroid with anabolic effects. It’s like taking adrenaline. Be very careful with that stuff. The pages I’ve found also indicate that the effects will fade in 3-6 weeks.
well a goggle search (you do know how to use a search engine, don’t you?) for Clenbuterol mexican fat burner, sure turned up a whole lotta pages. you don’t mention the dosage (mg) you’re taking, but this suggests rather strongly that you should be taking ‘breaks’ from them every few days.
Just because are govt(which is constantly bought by special interest groups)says it is wrong to do was not the kind of information I care about. I disagree with alot of things our govt says is good or bad for us. I am not hurting anyone else taking this and I so far I not even hurting myself.
So just because some politician in Washington is getting kickbacks from special interest group(probably Slim Fast) keeping Clenbuterol illegal doesn’t mean diddly to me.
Tell ya what why don’t ya’ll tell me WHY they made it illegal?
Once again wring thanks for the post and non judgemental repsonse. One clarification clenbuterol is not a steroid.
My God, I’ve never even considered the massive Slim Fast lobby, taking over Washington with a conspiracy to force us into enjoying a lowfat shake for breakfast, another at a lunch and then a sensible dinner.
:: falling to knees, screaming :: NOOOOooooooooo!
And your logic astounds me. Just because the government says setting people on fire is wrong doesn’t mean I won’t still do it! Right?
Anyway Bill. It sounds like you’ve got a excercise and diet regimen that doesn’t need Clenbuterol…why are you giving the steroid the credit?
And a clarification for you Bill? It IS a steroid…a simple google search provided me with 1820 pages that back that up.
What you do in your own time with your own body -no matter how stupid it may be- is not interesting to us. What IS interesting is what you chose to post at The Straight Dope Message Board. While we don’t oppose discussions about illegal practices per se, we WOULD like you to know that there are limits to those debates. So, in a perfectly fine debate about smoking pot, it is STILL not allowed to post a link to a website of a company illegally importing pot into the United States.
Now, I hope that information is enough for you to make an analogy to what will and what won’t be tolerated with regard to discussing THIS topic.
For goodness sake, Bill, I was just being humorous.
But! There is one Big side effect they don’t mention which seems to have affflicted you; taking too much of this stuff makes you mistype words and forget commas,…
Ok vanilla since you were being humorous I’ll take that back. Sorry.
Coldfire,
Did I do something wrong as far as board rules if I did I apologize. I do link that shows that clenbuterol although it does have some steroid characteristics is in fact not a steroid. But I won’t link because I think there is source listings. I will look futher to ones that don’t.
Jarbabyj,
My logic is astounding? Take a look at yours. I don’t think your analogy holds water. Setting people on fire is just a wee bit different than taking an asthma medication for weight loss wouldn’t you say? I am not hurting anybody but possibly and debatably(sp) myself. Where I think if you go around catching people fire, they will definetely get some injuries.
Captain,
I will read what you posted and respond later. I just wanted to say smoking, eating junkfood and drinking have a few adverse reactions too but they are still legal.
Wring,
From my research I have learned taking them two weeks and then switching to an ECA stack for two weeks is very effective. So I wasn’t planning on taking them for more than two weeks at a time. I have seen the two days on and two day off method before like you listed in you post but I decided still on the two week on and two week off method.
Mouthbreather,
LOL. And let me think about your statement. Pot sure. Heroin & coke man those sure do mess up peoples lives. I don’t see how you could make those legal. Heck, they(heroin and coke) are not even legal in places that sell steroids over the counter.
I was trying to take it to an extreme. Your idea that just because you don’t agree with what the government says about something gives you license to do it is ridiculous, regardless of whether you’re hurting yourself or others (yet). We have laws in this country. If you’re not following them, you’re doing something illegal. That’s the bottom line, whether you agree or not.
And besides, I’ll say it again. I strongly believe that you’ve lost nine pounds because of the changes you’ve made in diet and exercise, not because of steroids. I started a low carb diet three weeks ago and immediately lost seven pounds.
Bill, you haven’t broken any rules yet, but I see you know what I meant. Good.
Now, regarding the steroids you’re taking (if it has “steroid components”, it’s close enough for me). I heartily applaud you for working out so as to lose weight. But there’s only one word for people who think they’re taking smart shortcuts by taking illegal (because: dangerous) substances. The word is loser. I know, quite harsh, but there’s just no other way I can look at it. Sorry.
Google search turns up one page with a structural formula for clenbuterol, which confirms that it’s not a steroid by Cecil’s definition.
But potassium cyanide isn’t a steroid either. Just because it’s not a steroid doesn’t mean it’s safe. In fact, the consensus, on several sites (not all affiliated with the US government) is that it is not a safe drug. It has some legitimate medical applications, but it really, really looks to me as though you should not be taking it unless you’re under a doctor’s care and s/he’s prescribed it.
The information seems to be that it will increase your muscle mass… if you happen to be a horse, and take it in dosage levels that would kill a human being for certain. And it raises your body temperature - which means your body has to draw on its reserves of fat to maintain the higher temperature, so, yes, it’s a “fat burner”. (This effect, though, tapers off after a couple of weeks on the stuff).
Side effects can include tachycardia, trembling hands, insomnia, damage to the thyroid gland, loss of the body’s ability to regulate its own temperature, and death. Call me Mr. Cautious, but I like to avoid things that have death as a possible side effect.
I’m with jarbabyj on this one; if you’re eating less and exercising more, that’ll do the trick for you. You do not need the (possibly marginal) additional benefits the drug will give you. Particularly as there’s a chance it’ll screw you up badly in the process. I, personally, need to lose some weight - but, having read the stuff that’s out there, there is absolutely no way I would touch this drug.
