Today, my landlord was watching a political video with his wife in the living room (that’s all he watches; that and conspiracy-theory videos), and he said, “You hear that? Someone said that if the government is no longer supported by the people, it’s the people’s duty and obligation to abolish it.” I didn’t have the words to express my disgust at the time, but I texted him. > Couldn’t help but hear your conversation. If you’re dissatisfied with the government, vote to change it, do it without voter suppression disguised as election reform, and don’t whinge when you lose clearly. This talk of overthrowing the government only ever comes from your side. Not to stick my head in the lion’s mouth. Just saying I’m concerned that everything you’re watching is radicalizing you. ---

I _did_ yell at him today. I was angry. As I was coming into the Big House to take a shower, he was out on the porch. Me: “Did you hear about the power outage in North Carolina?” Him: “No…” Me: “A right-wing militia group shot up several power substations in North Carolina, leaving thousands without power, because they were upset about a drag show.” And then I pointed at him. Me: _"Your_ side. Not mine." Him [timidly]: “Well, that’s not something you should do…” Later, after my shower, I apologized to him and his wife for being so vitriolic about it. Then I told them about Trump’s wish to suspend the Constitution. _Neither_ of them had heard about it. I said, “It’s on his Truth Social page. You don’t have to take my word for it.” My landlord said he’d do that. And I said, “I don’t know how anyone can still support him after this, but some people still do.” I swear to God, I’d better not see him rocking that red hat ever again. ---
