> [@dre2xl](#): > > …The “extravagant” thing I did upon getting my current job which paid several times more than my old job was to hire Merry Maids. Ironically, having Merry Maids has made me a _lot_ cleaner… I want to maintain their sparkly appearance, and there’s little that’s more depressing than coming home after a 12-hour day to a pigsty. Plus, Merry Maids doesn’t cost that much more than cable TV (which I don’t have). Dang, that sounds like a smart plan. Why didn’t I think of that? Because putting out a bowl of milk for the brownies is doing nothing for me. ---

To be fair, I’m in the absolute final stages of writing a doctoral dissertation at the moment, so probably should be allowed a little slack, but the truth is that it isn’t much better than this usually. I need a wife. [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/ok-single-ladies-how-clean-is-your-house-apt/354263.md?page=1)
