OK, one of MC’s clients just came in here to see her. Boss told her what was up, and MC is convinced that this has something to do with _her_ neighbors, with whom she’s been having some sort of dispute about gravel (and MC has been trying to assist her in the dispute). Apparently she suspects that these neighbors are the same people who put nails in MC’s tires (twice) a few months ago. Before I start the secret interoffice sleuthing, though, I have thought of another friend of MC’s who has probably not been contacted. A few months ago, I applied for another job. A rep from that company contacted me at work with some questions about my experience, and I was out of the office, so MC took the call. When the woman gave MC her name to leave me a message, it turned out that she and MC used to be best friends and neighbors 25 years ago, in Oklahoma! Their kids had played together! They’d lost touch years ago, but thanks to me, were happily reunited! For awhile, they were two peas in a pod, meeting for lunch and nights out, etc., on a weekly basis, to catch up. I don’t know how long it’s been since they talked, but I figured it might be worth a shot. Anyway, I mentioned this to my boss (who, BTW, thinks that credit card and bank records will be checked after the apartment is examined) a few minutes ago, as someone who should possibly be contacted. He nodded and shrugged. I’m tempted to call this woman myself, but don’t want to go dipping my toes into someone else’s private pond. ---

Someone had put nails in MC’s tires?.. The plot thickens! I’d take the pyschic to visit some gravel pits. Actually, I doubt the Gravel Neighbours would have anyhing to do with anything. They’d just make Client disappear rather than MC. It’s a red herring! A red herring I tell you! ---

We have a psychic, and long-lost friend from Oklahoma, a brother with money troubles, and vengeful neighbors. We have a boss (and a co-worker!) who are trying to get work done in the midst of this crisis. And we have a OPer who is applying for another job (perhaps to leave the scene fo the crime? :p) along with a fiance who “knows not much.” 😉 I’m going to need a playbook to keep everyone straight! But I also think we need a new thread. This is just getting too weird. I hope something turns up soon. ---

Forget the boss. We all know bosses aren’t smart enough to carry off anything as elaborate as this. I think y’all have missed the most obvious answer to this mystery. **auntie em** did it and this entire thread is just a ploy to get us to believe her and send her care packages when she’s sent to the big house for offing her co-worker. I, too, have been reading and haven’t had anything really worthwhile to contribute. However, I was thrown into a panic this morning, because our computer at home broke and I don’t generally have access at work. Thank goodness for lunch breaks. i’ve just glanced at this thread this morning…took a damn long time to read I too, hope that MC is in no trouble/physical harm. As a b\*tch as she is, so one deserves to be kidnapped and subjected to unthinkable torture. I’m starting to lean towards that whole alien abduction thing. If the Meter guy took her to the airpot…maybe they went through a rift in space (aka Stephen King’s The langoliers) and she was the only one psycho enough to dissapear…but no one noticed… ---
