Ok, what the hell is Shoo-fly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy?

Irishman asked the diff between apple cobbler and pan dowdy. Cobbler is sort of a shallow, wide fruit pie made in a square or rectangular cake pan for a large number of people. Apple pan dowdy, as someone already said, is more like an upside-down cake. That is, fruit pieces and brown sugar on the bottom of a cake pan, followed by cake batter. It’s inverted when done, and served with the fruit on top.

By the way, Mrs. Nott and I believe the singer is Doris Day. Does anyone have a source for advertizing music?

So what’s the difference between apple pan dowdy and upside down cake?

I don’t have a cite, but it’s definitely Dinah Shore.

I hope this works. It’s my first time to post a link. Go here.

Well, the link worked, but you’ll have to type in Shoo Fly Pie in the “song” box. It lists all recordings.

By God, it was Dinah Shore. I thought it was Doris Day too.
