I don’t think that there really is any point in arguing with ZPG. I am completely convinced at this point that he is actually a middle aged MRA… activist (redundant I know, but…) who upon realizing that there actually was no woman in the world that fit his caricature that MRA’s seem convinced makes up all or at least the majority of women, set out to create that caricature himself. Sorry, MB, I see what you were trying to do here, but there is no reason to continue in either engaging or backpedaling. You stepped in some shit, and while that doesn’t necessarily make you a piece of shit like that which you stepped in, it’s going to be a while before the stink comes off. Trying to shake it off just annoys those around you. ---

My guess is that it’s fundamentally similar to another poster, who has been widely accused - and with justification AFAICT - of misrepresenting her own experiences. Some exaggeration, some appropriation of others’ experiences, and some imagination. What’s different here is that it’s being done in service of some outrageous opinions, while in the other case it’s mostly benign. But as to the source of the stories, it’s probably a comparable process. ---

I believe that if ZPG was in Yugoslavia in the 90s, she saw a lot of really bad things. But I’ll bet there were just as many women or more who were devastated by tragically losing dearly loved children. But somehow that doesn’t inform her worldview at all. ---

What I don’t consider tragic are women or men being relieved of potential children they vehemently hate. ---

But rather than give it to someone that wanted it, but would have very likely abused the crap out of it (like sitting on it for instance), I ran over it with the truck one moonless night and secretly buried it out in the back forty. It was the only humane thing to do. ---

I think some people on the Dope must be really young or live very, very sedate lives in small towns where nothing ever changes. ---
