Okay, now that I have money and a Hollywood Video membership, not to mention a nearby Best Buy, I’ve been buying/renting a lot of movies lately. Mostly what I own/rent is drama-type. Gangs of New York, Requim For A Dream, Memento, Run Lola Run, Shadow of the Vampire, etc. On my list is May, Seven (rewatch), and something else I forget. I want to rent some comedies, damnit. All I’ve watched for the past several months have been drama (other than my seasons of cartoons - Family Guy, Futurama, Aqua Tenn Hunger Force; and Pirates of the Caribbean and Bruce Almighty). I hate the Austin Powers movies. Reccomend me some good comedies. ---

MARX BROTHERS- Anything Marx Brothers is hilariously funny, but my personal favorites are Duck Soup and Horse Feathers. They’re old movies, but they’re not really dated. The humor is magnificent. and here’s a nice mix of old and new to start you off HOT SHOTS DR. STRANGELOVE WHAT A WAY TO GO! THE ODD COUPLE BEST IN SHOW THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER ARSENIC AND OLD LACE THE LADYKILLERS MASH That’s all I can think of for now. I’ll think more and come back. ---

Based on your listings of comedic cartoons I think it safe to assume you enjoy dry, sarcastic wit. Since you make no reference to knowing of any other comedic shows/movies, I’m going to assume you’ve been living under a rock for the last 20+ years. With those assumptions, I recommend anything by Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Kidding aside, everyone’s sense of humor is different and asking for a specific genre or actor or some other cue may help someone give you advice. Since I can’t, I’ll give you advice on what NOT to waste your time and money on: -Any movie that used to be a SNL sketch. -Any movie with II or higher in the title, unless you enjoyed the first one so much you want to watch it again. -Any movie whose funniest moments seem to be in the 60 second trailer. They are. -Any movie with Adam Sandler. ---

Monty Python And The Holy Grail is the funniest movie ever made, in my humble opinion. The Big Lebowski is hilarious, and just oozes style. ---

MST3k, check British comedy, check Already know those quite well. I’ve basically only been out of the loop for the past year and a half or so. My dad has a tendancy to watch REALLY BAD movies, so I stopped watching movies with him when I lived there. Was dirt-poor before that, and I now finally have monies. I tried looking up lists of New Release movies to see if anything sounded interesting. But no. So, allow me to narrow things down: Comedies that have been released in the past two years. That help y’all? Heh. I’m kinda tired of being intellectually stimulated (er . . . kinda, depending on the movie) all the time, so I’m looking for something where my brain can rest, I can laugh, but I won’t be pissed off cause the movie is SO STUPID (like Austin Powers _eyestab_). **AcidKid** - I’ve considered watching “dramas” to laugh at, but they always make my head hurt. Like Anaconda. Or Python. Maybe I should pick movies that aren’t icompletely ignorant of my area of expertise, eh? hehe. ---

_Cold Comfort Farm_ is one of my favorite movies. My favorite quote: “No, dear. Things are _amusing_ or _diverting_. They are **never** _such fun_.” I also love _Much Ado About Nothing_. Shakespearean, yet side-splitting. ---

Yeah, The Big Lebowski… also Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels if you’re into the whole violent crime farce genre. Zoolander is fucking hilarious. I’ve heard great things about Best in Show, but never seen it. If you want some awesome Canadian TV action, at least one season of Trailer Park Boys is on DVD, and it’s really, really funny. ---

_About a Boy_ is more dramedy, but definately worth a rent. _Bruce Almighty_ was surprisingly good, Jim Carrey was pleasantly toned down and Steve Carrel (from _The Daily Show_) made the film. Also mainly within your two year time frame and receiving the TeaElle Seal of “I Snarfed Root Beer Through My Nose (or Feared That I Would Do So) At Some Point While Watching This Flick” _Adaptation Nurse Betty Ocean’s Eleven American Splendor Best In Show A Mighty Wind_ (I’d add the slightly older _Waiting for Guffman_ here to complete the “trilogy”) _State & Main Kissing Jessica Stein Bend it Like Beckham_ ---
