:rolleyes: The main function of the National Guard is as a reserve force for combat units of the army. The National Guard has always been made up of combat arms units such as armor, infantry and artillery. There is no sandbag filler or snowstorm transporter MOS. The guard does not train year round on tactics and combat techniques in case of the next hurricane. I was not made an armor officer in the guard because my M1 might be needed to rescue a kitten during a flood. We are combat troops. That is what we are here for. We are also here to help with disasters as the governor deems necessary. The combat support units are mostly in the Army Reserve.
