> [@Bacon\_Salt](#): > > No matter how many times I see it, for some reason the [Discovery Channel commercial](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at_f98qOGY0) (you know which one) makes me… get… a little dust in my eye… Boom-de-ah-dah! Yes, I love that one, too. Ironically, I have trouble remembering the name of [this company](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzbMcsrK-tw) (probably because they were gobbled up so quickly). [The Zazoo condom ad](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yXthdWtU-A). I bet that one actually worked! I’m surprised no one’s put up any of the Budweiser Clydesdale ads. I really like the one with the [zebra ref](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNqogA1E5Ik). ---

Not so much a favourite ad as a favourite ad character: the [Cresta Bear.](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2eEWlyVoxQ) He featured in a series of ads for Cresta (a soft drink) in the 70s. The hand-drawn animation was very good, the ads were fun, the bear was a great character, and the tag line (“It’s frothy, man”) caught on in a big way here in the UK. ---

Can’t do YouTube(dial up) but i’m sure everyone remembers this one: Mini dachshund playing with his ratty old toy, Bobo , until Mom throws it away and takes him to Petco? Pet Smart? Pets R Us? for a new one. Last shot is doggie sleeping with his head resting on new Bobo, Mom smiling sweetly. I just love that dog. ---

The Ferrari/Shell commercial that is two minutes long and has several generations of Ferrari F1 cars racing through streets of Rome, New Yor, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro. [![](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/1_kwxzU4wL4/hqdefault.jpg "Ferrari Shell Commercial High Quality") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_kwxzU4wL4) There is also the “catfight” Miller Lite commercial between a brunette (Kitana Baker) and a blonde. You’ll have to find that on your own. ---

Okay, as depraved as it may be, those of us “of an age” can’t help but recall the bombardment of commercials for cigarettes. I hope my very favorite, [this one](http://www.tobaccovideos.com/videos/originals/commercials/salem_dvd_18/002salem.mp4) plays for you. If not, [maybe this one](http://www.tobaccovideos.com/commercials/002salem.html) will jog a memory. And if you’re “dying” to see one for your favorite brand, check out the huge stash at [Tobacco Videos.](http://www.tobaccovideos.com/) I was also partial to [Julie London](http://www.tobaccovideos.com/videos/originals/commercials/marlboro_dvd_12/004marlboro.mp4) If these don’t reinforce the idea that we were (maybe still are) fools, I challenge you to produce better examples. (All in fun, you hear?) ---

I’m pretty fond of the Old Spice commercials, especially the recent “[The man your man could smell like](http://www.youtube.com/user/oldspice?feature=pyv&ad=3379911317&kw=old%20spice&gclid=CNX5k4mNmKACFUVn5Qodx0JOdw#p/u/0/owGykVbfgUE)”, but also the [Bruce Campbell](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Af1OxkFOK18) (20ft long sailing painting) and [Neil Patrick Harris](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TusJ8HSLaUs) (“As a former make believe doctor”) ones. ---

Back in the 80’s (or was it very early 90’s?) Little Ceaser’s had the best commercials. I can’t access YouTube from work, but here is my favorite to the best of my memory: _Lady walks into pizza place_ **Lady:** I can get 2 medium pizzas for $5 from Little Ceaser’s. What can I get for $5 here? **Pizza Dude:** You can get 1 medium pizza and … \*Pizza Dude looks around frantically \* **Pizza Dude:** This box. **Lady:** A box?!?!? What am I going to do with a box? **Pizza Dude:** Ever hear of origami? _Pizza Dude’s hands and box blur with speed_ \*Pizza Dude hands Lady a cardboard figurine \* **Lady:** What’s this? **Pizza Dude:** A pterodactyl. RAWR!!! RAWR!! RAWR!! 😃 [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/okay-then-lets-do-your-all-time-favorite-commercials/514447.md?page=4) [Next page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/okay-then-lets-do-your-all-time-favorite-commercials/514447.md?page=6)
