One of my great aunts had 17 children. We never knew them as my grandfather wasn’t particularly close to his sister. He did meet one of them once by dint of arriving home and finding a stranger sitting in his front room (it was the 60s and they left their doors unlocked). When Grandpa queried who he was the young man claimed a familial relationship and explained that he had recognised the photograph of my Grandpa’s father (the young man’s own grandfather) hanging on the front room wall.
Apparently the whole huge family were all healthy and doing well. I’m kinda glad they didn’t keep in touch cos that’s a lot of birthday cards :eek:

Every time I read about this story, which really refuses to go away apparently, I can’t help running in my head what the reporter who talked them into the photo and story must have said to them.
I imagine it went something like this;
“No really, people love a heart warming family story like this, the papers are so full of awful stories. This photo/ story will brighten their days.” Can’t you just picture the reticent parents caving to this line?
Of course what the reporter wasn’t saying was, “No really, please let us run the story, people love this kind of thing. After all people love an opportunity to feel superior, this story is perfect.”

These people are not harming anyone. They seem happy and healthy as do their kids. Her uterus is her business, how many children they have is between the two of them.
By what right do we judge them? Are these children better or worse off for having a lot of siblings? Only they know, everything else is conjecture.

You are correct - i pronounce finger fin-ger and not fin-jur. Although i pronounce singer sing-er rather than sin-ger so i spose my point still stands.
