We are going to Jungle Jim’s shortly, and afterwards might do down to Newport Aquarium or Museum Center if it’s not too late. ---

I ended up making it home. It was quite a journy. Apparently **no one** in Cinci knows who W H Taft is. How is that possible? And what’s even stranger is that the Taft family is heavly into politics. So I spent the best part of an hour trying to find the place. One guy sent me to an abandoned museum. I looked at a map before I left, but when I tried to follow it it was wrong. Then I couldn’t find another map with the place on it. I finally called the place and even **they** had a hard time explaining it to me, he refused to tell me how to get there from the interstate. Then after I left it started to rain and it followed me almost all the way home. Well at least it was an adventure. 🙂 ---

Hey! Where were all you people? I mean on Friday (but a little on Saturday too. There were no Dopettes at all!). I was holding down my post at the bar waiting… waiting… “I’m sorry sir, but I think you’ve had enough.” “Enough! I’ll tell YOU when I’s ha’ enough!” Then he did some wierd judo stuff and got the drop on me. Sneaky bastard. Threw me out into the street. Or he would have if it wasn’t for the big parking lot. So I sat on one of those concrete things they have at the front of the parking space that keeps you from pulling up too far and tried to straighten my tie. Bowties are hard to fix fter you get thrown into a gutter. Especially if you forgot to wear one that night. But then! **Shibb** and **Zap** show up! Yay! They go and get a table in back, way far from the mean ol’ bartender, and sneak me in the back. This was the fondue place. Heaven with a pot of melted cheese. Our waiter was a good sport, so **Shibb** laid out vacation plans for him. FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY! Sort of a goodwill cheese embassador. Then we got to the eating and erudite conversation. With humourous voices and sound effects. (We decided that Animal House was a watermark movie with Caddyshack as its heir. Then what? Nat’l Lampoon’s Vacation? Or was it something else? It wound up to Roadtrip (I thought they meant the Britney Spears movie first, but then they said to was the Tom Green one, and that made more sense.) and we figured we had better movies than the Kids Today. We closed the place. At least we stayed until they turned out hotplate off. The last tiger prawn didn’t cook quite as well as one would hope. But that one was **Shibb** , so I escaped unscathed, prawnwise. Saturday **Shibb** and the **Olethlings** took the intrepid **Zappo** to Jungle Jim’s. If you ever show up in Cincinnati, you HAVE to go to Jungle Jim’s. It’s the BEST grocery store EVER. 14 kinds of beef jerky, plus a singing Elvis Lion, plus the Minnow and all the Castaways. They’ll have the monorail up and running soon. I didn’t go. I had Other Plans. But I did meet up with everyone on Saturday. Me an’ the **Little Woman**. ( **Mrs. Shibb** and the **Olethlings** were there too. All lovely people.) I thought I’d go to the desk and ask if our party had arrived. But then I saw our party standing at the bar, so I jumped the line. Introductions around. Then it was **Zapp** , **Shibb** , **thinksnow** , me and the **Little Woman** and the aforementioned **Mrs. Shibb** and the **Olethlings**. **Keeper0** , **Narile** and **Ed the Head** showed up later. Did I mention, NO DOPETTES? (Not that I’m bitter. I had my date.) The Mystery Guest couldn’t even bother to show. (I hate her now.) But then the eating and drinking and chatting commenced. Then we went to get ice cream. We would have done a couple of holes of mini-golf, but we got distracted. We’ll have to do it again some time. -Rue. ---

Well, there’s nothing I can add to **Rue’s** account so I won’t try to add anything. It was a blast, though. A wonderful time was had by all, and mad props to **Shibb and the Oleths** (band name!) for their kind hospitality. You must definitely see Jungle Jim’s if you’re ever in Cincinnati. Anyhow, I’m home. Although I didn’t have (much) rain on the way, I did get to sit on the PA Turnpike between exits for about four hours after some yutz dumped his truck on the road outside the Kittatinny Tunnel. So I called my boss and told him I was extending my vacation, and I’m home to unpack today. The delay wasn’t that bad, though. I got to smoke one of the cigars I bought at Jungle Jim’s, and while I was doing that I walked around my car and removed large hunks of Tennessee from underneath the bumpers. So it wasn’t a total loss. ---

Sounds like fun was had and then some. 🙂 Apologies for not being in attendance as an official Dopette (Doperette? Anything like a Rockette?) but Life has been crapping on the family lately. And not the magazine neither. Jungle Jim’s is pretty neat, I’ve been up there once. You can get practically anything legal there. The other stuff I don’t know so much about.
