The difference of course is that according to Jewish history, Cyrus was a moral and honorable man who just happened to not be Jewish. Trump on the other hand is a vile Narcissistic sociopath who claims to be Christian. ---

Of course not. The average MAGA had never heard of Cyrus before Trump entered the scene, and still have no idea who was. All they know is that his existence in the bible means that they have something that they can point to when anyone tries to point out that Trump is the exact opposite of everything they claim to believe in. So now that that’s solved they don’t have to think about it anymore. The MAGAs have many such “fig leaves” to cover up cognitive dissonance, they don’t have to bear uo to the tiniest whiff of scrutiny they just have to be good enough for the MAGAs, who desperately want to believe them, to fool themselves. ---

I went to public school in Arkansas. Every morning after the Pledge of Allegiance and the daily prayer one student got to read a Bible verse to the class. I always chose something from the Book of Revelation, just to be difficult I guess. The teacher would take delight in asking me to explain what I just read but in my tiny brain it was just a bunch of gibberish. But I would try to come up with something anyway. One day there must have been some kind of court ruling about prayer in public school. The principal’s reaction was to call all of the students of the entire school out to the flagpole and bow our heads for a really long prayer to Jesus. By the way, in the 60s it was the Democrats doing all of this, at least in Arkansas. We didn’t really have Republicans in Arkansas back then. ---

It was more of a “Solid South” movement, and it wasn’t until the mid to late 60’s that some of them changed their status from Democrat (mostly in name only) to Republican. ---

For the most part, this didn’t happen in Arkansas until the mid to late 70s. There were some Republicans elected in the 60s, _e.g._, representative Hammerschmidt and governor Rockefeller, but they were always Republicans. ---
