Well, made it to nearly 9am this morning (I was up till 11:45pm, so guess I was more tired than I thought). Tru-Green man doing the lawn service finally woke me up, will break fast here in a bit and then probably do a couple loads of laundry. Have a 6:30-8:00pm soccer meeting, so that is on the agenda, but rest of the day is clear. Weather is more of the same, about 67F outside going to 78F and nary a drop of rain. **JtC** , that’s a great story, even if I had to wince in sympathy with the young man. And that the company deliberately packs wax removal cream shows that he was probably not alone. **shoe** , thanks for the gardening answer. And I wondered how many would get that, even with all us geezers here. **Flyboy** , spent a few days in LA a couple decades ago, I remember a tour up to Griffith Observatory (it was closed) and the Hollywood sign and going to an Angels game, but nothing else. May have to add the West coast to future vacation plans. Happy Voting, **swampy**. And sorry for the interruption, just got a robot-call from Tru-Green that their person would be out today (has already finished and left). Now where was I… **Nut** , know what you mean, my usual get-up time is usually around 7am, but about once a week I go past 8-8:30am, don’t know why. And thanks to all the gardening folks who responded to my question, it is a community I’ve never been a part of (did plant tomatoes for my Mom when I was a teenager) so am often baffled about it (truth be told, I’m often baffled by many things, but the topic was gardening on this occasion…). **Knots** , thanks for the answer, I can see that happening. And thanks all for the volcabulary lesson for the morning, I have heard all those words over my life, but never together in a group such as this. **Taters** , I’ll get that way sometimes, just don’t wanna go. They kept pulling Fritz and me up to the Sort Table, so the Slide kept filling up. Which was bad because either Yellow Belt broke, or the SSLAWs in small weren’t working. So we got avalanched with all sorts of Smalls right at 9. There was a lot of Left in Building today, including Next Day Air. At least there were much in the way of damages. Although one of them was an empty box. Empty because as a closure, they used part of the thermal label the tracking number was printed on. 🙄. But I was out by 10:45, and came straight home. I had a bowl of soup(Progresso creamy chicken noodle) for lunch, and started the pasta sauce in the slow cooker. Painting didn’t happen after all, since **FCD** had more constructing to do. So I finished my unplanting. I can’t bring myself to toss all the lilies and liriope and I don’t feel like pretending to be a landscaper, so I came up with what I hope is a good solution. There’s a section beside the ditch that’s a pain in the patoot to mow. So I’ve asked **FCD** to help dig some trenches and I’ll put the clumps that I dug up in them. I don’t know how well the lilies will do, but the liriope should be happy. For now, I’m taking a break. And _now_ **FCD** is ready for painting. He may be out there doing it even tho I told him I would after I take a break. I just don’t get it. We’re not on any schedule. It’s too late in the year to go anywhere, not that we can afford it with diesel as $$$ as it is. He won’t sleep in because he has to “get it all done” - well, yeah, it has to get done, but there’s no deadline. He just hasn’t mastered RDOS - he won’t even try!! Supper will be shrimp because I couldn’t find the pulled poke and I didn’t feel like deconstructing the freezer. I’ll make some Jiffy cornbread plus we’ll have slaw. That sounds semi-healthy, doesn’t it? ---

Howdy Y’all! We procured and stowed provisions this mornin’. We went to vote and got there just as the precinct opened. OYKW was number four and I was number five. However, there were people in line behind us and more comin’ in as we were leavin’. Who knows how many folks will vote before they close up at seven p.m. Sup got fixed and et after we voted. I was goin’ to go to Evening Prayer, but the desire to put on goin’ out in public pants is nil, so here I am. **Mollie** unless you are AT&T, you are not my provider. Even if you are, haven’t had any problems here today. If you are Dish, haven’t had problems either. **MOOOOOM** Jiffy mix is not cornbread. It’s more like cake or a sweet muffin. Cornbread does not contain sugar. I will die on that hill. However, Jiffy mix does make for a good waffle or even pancakes. ---

Hard an incredibly hard time sleeping last night. Reason: I never shared that when we went to the Bark in the Park, that I received a parking ticket; I was quite traumatized, I had never received one as I am not in the habit of ever parking illegally. You had to pay or dispute it within 30 days. Today was the 30th day. I had not parked illegally, there’s no signage saying you can’t park there. The notation was that I was parked in a moving line of traffic. Um, absolutely not. I was parked at the curb. It’s a one house block and the rest of the street, as it were, goes to a parking garage for Little Caesars Arena (used by Red Wings and Pistons). There was NO activity at LCA that night. So, first I tried to dispute it on-line but the ticket hadn’t been entered into the system yet. I called and the very nice lady who answered the phone told me that meant the officer hadn’t turned in the book of parking tickets yet. Well, the ticket was issued 30 days ago and s/he hadn’t turned in the ticket book yet?!? She said that in order to dispute it, I would now have to come in person. So, I sort of procrastinated a bit but finally got myself together and left about 10:40. I had to stop and get some quarters because I was concerned there might be meters that I would need quarters for. I bought a whole roll $10 worth. When I arrived at the Parking Violation office, the street parking was free. I walked up to the entrance and there were 2 gentlemen in security uniforms who nicely asked how I was doing. I briefly mentioned hoping that I wouldn’t cry as I was there to dispute a ticket. They opened the door for me, had me sign in, put my metal stuff into a tray and had me walk through one of those detection frames. Then they showed me where to go. The 2 ladies behind the glass window couldn’t have been nicer, they also asked how I was today and again I mentioned hoping I wouldn’t cry. They took my license, registration and ticket, made copies and entered the info into the computer. Then had me go sit in a big room full of chairs and an administrative official and a clerk. There were no other people there. After about 5 minutes the administrative official called me to a podium and asked me what I had to say about the ticket. I had my say, showed a picture on my phone of my car parking at the curb, no signage, no traffic. The clerk kept trying to bring the location up on a huge screen and she was unable to. I tried helping out several ways by passing my phone to the security guard to show the administrative official with the exact location being shown and also by pointing at the screen showing where it was but each time she went to the driving view, she was unable to find it. Finally the administrative official said that since they were unable to substantiate the charge, that the ticket was dismissed. Yay! I was slightly shaking as I went to get the paper stating that the ticket was dismissed from the clerk. Of course as I walked out, I was feeling very emotional. What a 40 minutes I spent in there. Was an RDOS for most of the afternoon until Hubs asked for some help trimming the evergreen bushes in front of the house. I trimmed for awhile until my back was hurting and the trimmer became too heavy to hold. Had chili with extra sharp cheddar cheese and asparagus for dinner. ---

Evening all. Finally did get out to the gym late and stayed there until it was time for my Soccer meeting, which I did not contribute much too, but was able to talk to the Commissioner about my ‘issue’ and he assured me the AYSO HQ was on it and I shouldn’t worry about it, so I won’t. Then home for a late Chee-burger and an earlier bedtime than last night. Temp is down to about 56F outside (74F inside), but still resisting turning the heat on. Now to play catch-up and merrily I’ll scroll along… **doggio** , I always enjoy your descriptions of work, even if I don’t always understand all the references..I can usually get the idea. **Cookie** , I know what cold comfort means, guess I’m a old fogey too. And your two laundry loads ahead of me today (maybe tomorrow). **FCM** , nice pics, you get your calorie burn the old-fashioned way while I trod the treadmills. And some folks never seem to relax–more’s the pity. **swampy** , happy you got your vote in, I have a couple more weeks to go. **Cat Glove** , haven’t had a parking ticket in quiet some time, but did get pulled over years ago while I was still working and got a speeding ticket, not traumatizing but still not comfortable. And great news about beating the rap! I doubt many people do that and just pay the fine instead of taking the time and care to dispute it. **shoe** , hope it’s just a normally slow night and not a bad business sign… And that’s all I have at 9:20pm. Have a couple You Tubes to view before heading to the sleepin’ room, so take care and I’ll see you Thorsday. ---

Hello, hello! It’s been what qualifies as a busy day here. The morning started with a text from my stepmom saying they were sheltering in their basement due to a tornado warning. They were fine, though they continued their day with tornado and flood watches. They’re getting a pile of rain overnight, but they should be ok. My own weather is delightfully boring: Started off with 39Ferrets, climbed to 71F and is currently 67F. Sunny and cool. I hope you are less sore today, **VanGo**! It’s a big Praise 'n Treat time in his life, so he reminds me on the bing of 9:00 p.m. that it’s Ollie Cookie Time by staring meaningfully in the direction of where the cookies are kept. He lets me stuff those pills right down his throat with not a bit of fuss, keeping his eyes on the prize. Happily, he doesn’t mind the pills at all. He’s fine today, as I expected he would be. Lately I’ve been teaching him to “speak”! and I suspect I may regret it. He’s mouthy enough as it is. Ran into town today to do some banking, deposit my ballot in a drop box, meet a friend for a nice long lunch and then pick up some milk on the way home. I’ll track the ballot until I know it’s been received and counted. They may offer push notifications, but I haven’t checked to see if they do and haven’t signed up for them. It’s enough to be able to verify receipt and counting. Breakfast was a toasted English muffin smeared with crunchy peanut butter. Dinner tonight was that lonely portion of lasagna still in the fridge with some steamed green beans. At least some of it is now gone. I forgot to ask my friend today if she and her hubby would like some. I’ll get another chance to ask soon. Tomorrow I have to run into town for a blood draw in advance of a doc visit next week.
