For “extra fancy” do you also use the frilly colorful toothpicks?

Also, I have had an unrequited gnawing & cravin’ _all DAMN day_ for really good chicken salad on Hawai’ian rolls, and I BLAME YOU.

If you want, I can send you the link to an absolutely _silent_ analog clock I got on Amazon. Comes in a buncha colors (including glow in the dark numbers, very handy!) and it is as utterly quiet as the most deserted of outer space.

For working so many closing shifts in a row, this week has gone pretty O.K. (… so far, she said, totally jinxing it.)

I’ve been trying to be extremely mindful of self-care, esp. eating, like, every damn day. Taking a vitamin and some anti inflammation supplements as often as I remember. Seems to be working, or at least helping.

Tonight I had to clean a fryer, which sometimes is at my max physical levels of ability - but tonight it was mostly a nothingburger (except for a few grunts & groans lifting a heavy thing at an awkward angle) which made me feel at least very slightly like somewhat of a semi-badass.

Also, I got to wear a brand-new kerchief, gifted to me by a Mumper that I’ve never met in person, whose _sister_ made it for me, so that’s like a whole extra level of not-knowingness, and the amount of love and effort from people I … know, but I don’t _know_ know, you know? … it really touched my soul.

Plus it was a lot of fun to be all super mysterious at work about it.
“Nice! Where’d you get it?”
“It’s … uh, it’s kinda complicated.”
" … ?"

Monkey is being all snuggly in my lap.

{ _examines **Monks** under brighter light_ }

Monkey also has a weird irritated looking spot by his eye that wasn’t there yesterday, so if it doesn’t look better in a day or two, _someone_ is getting carted off to the vet, while _someone_ hopes to hell she can afford whatever happens next.

Always sumpin’.

We’ve always been on the ground floor, so I’ve had to listen to plenty of track meets and elephant mosh pits.

Buddy is facing a vet visit tomorrow (I’m typing shortly before midnight my time). Hopefully, we can lower his steroid dosage. The increased appetite is leading to some weight gain (not to mention me having to guard Allie at supper so she can eat in peace without him deciding to “help” her).

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 15c/59f with a predicted high of 20c/68f, and cloudy. Weather app says “This fucking overcast nonsense is utter shit. Utter fucking rubbish.” I disagree, it’s warm enough for me and there’s no sun so that’s better for my eyes. I’m happy with it today.

They’ve turned quite sensible just lately ☹ The latest idea is a partnership with a company that recycles/refurbishes small electrical items so now you can leave things like kettles, toasters printers (and batteries) out on top of your bin, and they should take them away. They must have learned that one from the bits they took out of the neighbour’s bin and left on his garden path. Naturally, there are some instructions about what and how to leave things out, so I fully expect the neighbours to not read that far…

Mum had a hearing aid for one ear, she always complained that she could hear her hair moving! One of the friends I was with last night wears them in both ears and often complains that his don’t do much apart from amplify background noise so he has to keep adjusting them to suit the environment.

> Buddy is facing a vet visit tomorrow

I hope it goes well and he behaves himself!

I was out late-ish last night and up early this morning, I’m in the office and feeling pretty tired already! One of the things we talked about in the pub last night was the start of the football season which is fast approaching. We’re not football fans by any stretch, the only reason I look at the fixtures is to see how much of a nuisance it will be to me 🙂

Next week there’s a home game on Wednesday so we’ll have to make sure we decamp to a pub away from town to avoid the crowds. The one we were at last night is a home supporters pub so on match days it’s packed. Not fun at all.

Nothing exciting in my irk-calendar today, I’ve got some stuff to update in our virtual learning site so that’s going to occupy me for a while. And I need to keep a check on marking because all due to be completed next week. Then we will be a week or so away from the Board of Examiners meetings.

I don’t have anything planned for tonight either, it’s my turn to make dinner so I’ll be doing chicken curry since chicken’s what came out of the freezer last night. Other than that, a bit of sofa time and an early night beckons!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of _only_ 87 (BRR!) and N.O.S. The big item on today’s agenda is to take care of candle and other duties over to the church house and then we shall be bears who brunch at Eggs Up, which shall suffice as today’s main need to feed. The rest of the day shall be spent in high RDOS inactivities.

**Lily** I figure I’ll slap chikin sallit on thirty-two little rolls and call it done. Cut in half that will be sixty-four little half sammiches. Needless to say there will be bunches of other fancy reception type thingys.

**MetalMouse** **GLAD THE HEARIN’ AIDS ARE WORKIN’ FOR YA!**

**red** ain’t nuttin’ wrong with needin’ a pj/mental health day.

**Hippie** poor groundhawg! I agree with you on wonderin’ what goes through people’s minds to make this acceptable.

**Oopsie** is the place Chikin Sallit Chick? They do make a good chikin sallit, even if’n it’s a bit pricey IMO. Plus, I make better. Popcorn is yet another proof God wants us to be happy.

**shades** I shall have to look for the sammich bread sometime. However, I have thirty-two little rolls in da fridge as I post, so that’ll be for Sunday.

**shoe** the frilly colored toothpicks would make it look like I’m puttin’ on airs for the Bishop. One must remain humble. Pimento cheese is also good on Hawai’ian rolls.

**BooFae** the Amurrkin kolledge football season is about to crank up. It’s the only one I care about anymore. **GO DAWGS!!! WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!**

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers, I suppose I must needs purtify and don acceptable attire for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. This is two days in a row. The public is so demandin’ of me!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

_BWAHAHAHAHA!_

What a night - MIL was talking on and off all night. Then she got up before 7! I might have gotten 4 hours of sleep, maybe. And I have Tobias today - yeah, that could be further exhausting. I’ll take him to a playground after lunch for a few hours and to give MIL a break from the noise (as if she hears anything when she’s asleep.)

Supper will be fried chicken and sides from the deli. I may even have it delivered, so one less thing. Daughter will work from home tomorrow and keep Tobias with her. That means I won’t have help to do laundry. 😉

BTW - 52° to start the day, going up to mid-70s. Good playground day. And so it begins.

Happy Thursday!

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 59F and raining at the moment. The rain will taper off around 7:00 a.m. and we’ll have cloudy skies and a high temperature of around 70F.

I have skimmed but not retained all that much.

Roxy and Tobias are cutie-patooties. I love the pics. My granddaughter, Zoe, started kindergarten yesterday. She’ll be six the first week of September. She was not super excited about going to school but dutifully got on the bus without fussing. I hope her first day was awesome.

I left my son’s place and got home late yesterday afternoon. I felt like I should have stayed another day and made it clear that he should call me immediately if he needed me to come back. Although the surgery went well, his recovery time at the hospital was a little slower than expected, and we didn’t get back to his place until early evening on Sunday. He was definitely in some pain and didn’t have a good night between the pain from the surgical sites and the gas from the surgery. Monday, I drove down to the drugstore and got him some ice packs along with ibuprofen and acetaminophen so he could switch off between the two every few hours to keep the pain tamped down. He started off pretty well on Tuesday morning, but things went downhill, so I stayed another night. Yesterday, it was the same, but he rallied. Part of his problem was that I could not get him to eat anything substantial. It was very frustrating because I knew he needed to eat. He got cranky about that several times, but he’s a grown-assed man and as stubborn as his mamma. I made him a pot of split pea soup (his favorite) in hopes that it would stimulate his appetite, and he did a pretty good job of eating some of that on Tuesday.

Anyway, I’ll check in on him later this morning. Hopefully, he’ll be doing okay, but somehow, I doubt it. Between the Tyelonol, Motrin, and two kinds of antibiotics, his stomach is probably a mess.

I came home to discover the pups both have ear infections…again! I’ll have to call the vet today. It’s always something.

My first week at work after vacation has been pretty stressful. Nothing was done in my absence, and I was scrambling to take care of some overdue tasks. The data calls came while I was on leave, but the deputy didn’t answer them. Both the deputy and director had a list of stuff they wanted from me, and I’ve been trying to get that done, catch up on the budget, run down various other things, and take care of my son. I’m a little tired.

Well, that’s all for now. I’m sending hugs, yays and boos as appropriate.

Need to load the dishwasher and get ready for work.

When Roxy started Kindergarten, she was most excited about riding the bus! Now, it’s just routine!

I looked up the county’s rules for starting kindergarten - you have to be 5 by Sept 1. Tobias will turn 5 on Nov 15, 2027, so he’s got 3 more years at the Montessori school, unless Daughter can get him in early - assuming he meets the standards. He’s 2 - he can count to 30. Something tells me he’ll be more than ready for K. We shall see.

I’m showered and dressed. Mr. T should be here in a half hour or so. **FCD** has gone to the boatyard, but he’ll be back fairly soon. MIL got up at 7, and she’s sleeping and talking on the couch. Just another routine day at FairyChat Estate.

This post brought to you by WHAT THE EVER LIVING FUCK!

I’ve been waiting a month for an MRI of my knee due to the Baker’s cyst. Yesterday, I went for the MRI and it was of my lower leg, knee not included. I was so angry. And the MRI was ridiculously painful. I agreed to do it anyways just in case there was something that I didn’t know and there was a valid reason. I’m waiting to hear back from the doc on what the hell he was thinking…

Otherwise, I did read all 80 posts since I last visited but you know how that goes…. Love to you all!

Morning all. Shirts sorted and hung up, new clock in place and have pilled myself and gnawed at the morning apple, so a fairly constructive start to the day. 73F heading to 88F today, so hotter here than some of the more Northern Mumpers, but still not to bad. Deliberately did not put the hearing aids in this morning, want to see how things sound ‘the old way’ (keyboard is much quieter), but will install them later for soccer practice.

**shady** , that’s a nice re-purposing; don’t have anything like that here I could store, but congrats to you for your imagination.

**Coppertone** , Conga-rats on the new job! Hope it works out for you.

**JtC** , figured that story had a lot of sitcom moments to it. Thanks for sharing.

**shoe** , have lived both top and bottom in apartments, so know what you mean. This is just the slapping of the shoes on concrete/flooring etc. that somehow sounds…different. Hope Monks is OK.
