A couple of ladies helped me back to my feet, and we went off to the lab, did the two blood draws, and then went next door to the ER for the checkup that, due to the blood thinners, I’m supposed to get every time I fall and hit my head on something. Fortunately nothing seriously wrong so I came home and took a nap. Now my wrist hurts from landing on it, but all the little scratches have stopped bleeding. This “getting old” stuff is _not_ what I expected it to be. ☹ ---

Howdy Y’all! The things got done and RDOS sloth then ensued. We made the executive decision to have majick intartoobz pizza and sallit for sup just cause. Now I shall see whatup on teh intartoobz for a bit and then go beddy bye. **Lucky** you should add a roll of duct tape, a plastic tarp, and a gas can to the list just for funsies. **Knotty** just so you know, you are not actually a good spokesperson for Boo Berry ice cream. Also, it sounds ick! **rocker** bundt cake cupcakes sounds like a well-balanced breakfast to me. **shoe** it’s hard sometimes to decide it’s time to say good bye. However, whatever it is you want, I’ll stand with you. **JtC** sometimes ya just gotta let a chore slide. No shame in that. Happy leaf peepin’! **Mollie** I know what you mean. Some thief is sneakin’ into da cave when we aren’t lookin’ and guzzlin’ the gin. That’s a nice thing you said to that young transwoman. I liked Po Folks too. The po’ folks beef stroganoff is not from there, however. Ground beast is what po’ folks use to make beast stroganoff. **red** glad the a-hole finally went away. JEEZ! **MOOOOOOM** that menu does look good. **BrightTree** hope the speaker problem gets figured out soonest. Same with the Medicare Part D. Hey friends, sorry about not being around as much. The past few years have been taking a bit of a toll. For those not aware I shoot news in our nation’s capital. Currently I’m working nights, a shift a I actually prefer. I’m about 5 years until retirement. News since Covid and BLM has been hard. The industry is dying, companies are being bought out by billionairs and any pretense of journalism is dying. It’s enough to give you PTSD and frankly I think I have some. That said it’s not all doom & gloom! I took on a chief photographer’s position about 8 years ago but got really burned out by about 3 years ago. I had resigned myself to getting fired at some point because I just couldn’t do the managerial and street photog jobs - it was overwhelming and I am NOT a good disciplinarian. Much to my surprise my company brought in an operations manager who basically took all the shit I hated doing away from me while not technically demoting me (still called chief), and didn’t fuck with my pay. I didn’t expect that to be sure. That said I’m still expecting they’ll dump me someday in a corporate merger, but I can technically retire now if needed, so we’ll keep treading water until that happens. In home news I married off my youngest daughter last year to a nice fellow in Oklahoma and they are doing well. My oldest daughter has had some health setbacks and is staring at disability, so she moved home, but that’s good and I’m glad to have her. Those are the big points - not dating and not gonna; I’m enjoying my single life. Am looking at adopting an elderly cat - my last passed almost two years ago and I think I’m finally ready to take on another. Anyway been glancing through the thread while waiting to edit tonight’s story (which I am about to do now). So happy to see so many good people here still! Take care and I will try to be less of a stranger ---

Evening all. Signed up to referee at 9am tomorrow at a field about 20 miles away (our region is done with the regular season but the other local ones are still playing). Only other open game is at 2:30pm, so I think I’ll see how the first game works out and maybe sign up for the afternoon one tomorrow. Meanwhile the silverware has been sorted out and put back in the drawer and Big Bowl O’Sallit has been consumed, so all is right with the world. Temperature is only down to 65F so should be a good night for sleeping (if bladder cooperates). Did sample my Halloween candy (mini-snickers, mini M&M’s and mini-nestle Crunch) just for qualify assurance purposes, of course… Now to review the day’s happenings. **FCM** , we had a First Watch open up here not long ago, it seems popular but looking at the menu on-line, it is a bit pricey and ‘fancy’, IMHO, but it might be worth the visit. **Bright Tree** , glad things are returning to normal for you (whatever your definition of normal is, of course…). As for the leftovers, they will join the Ice Cream pints in testing my resistance to temptation… We have one house that has gone Full Ghoul for Halloween decorations and my neighbors have a couple small things, me–I’ll have the lights on tomorrow for the T-and-T’ers. **Herald** , Ouch, glad the fall wasn’t more serious, especially if you are on blood thinners. **2gig** , given your job and the last couple of years, I suspect you have been busier than usual. And reading further it is depressing how media has changed, I still buy the NY Times paper edition 2-3 times a week because I grew up with newspapers in my hand and don’t want to lose them now. Glad family life is still a bright spot and expect pictures of new feline buddy once they decide to adopt you… And it’s after 9pm so I need to finish a couple You Tubes and head off to Slumberland (but set the alarm clock first). Ironically since I kinda set all the talk off but, despite having half a zillion candles lying around, I’ve barely used a single one since getting a rechargeable LED touch-light. The bright setting is BRIGHT, and I think the lowest brightness (which is plenty for middle-of-the-night excursions) lasts something like 200+ hours. You just tap it on/off. Y’all inspired me to fire 🔥 up one of my few scented candles, “Juicy Melon” (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew) and now my home smells sweetly of fruit, and not at all like old lady farts & devil’s lettuce. Monkey was safely a whole 1.5 feet away, but since he’s snoozin’ the slumber of the innocent, all is well. _{ foof! }_ Candle snuffed. Off to SluberLand m’self. ---

Good Mornin’ Y’al!! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ Tis 63 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 78. TWPTB say rain will be here around six p.m. We shall see. Tomorrow is first Sunday brunch, so I shall make crock pot bbq with a Boston \< snerk \> BUTT! \< snerk \>, a corn casserole and some pee-kahn brownies. I am sure it will all disappear. One of us will go to Jack’s to obtain foodstuffs for lunch as today’s main need to feed. My **DAWGS** play Flahrduh this afternoon at three-thirty. The game is usually played in Jacksonville, FL, but due to stadium construction there, for the next two years it will be played at other neutral sites. This year it’s at the Benz in Etlanner. The game is billed as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, but since it’s at Benz, it will be the World’s Largest Indoor Cocktail Party. I expect to become mildly inebriated and in need of extra speshul sooper sekrete double confession tomorrow. **2gig** sounds like an umm.. innerestin’ last few years. Great that you got rid of the irk stuff you don’t like and still for the same pay! Hope you can hang on until the retirement age you want. Fantastic news about younger daughter bein’ happy and doin’ well. Hope oldest daughter can get disability without too much hassle and glad you are happy to have her home. Should OYKW kick it before me, I will be happy to spent the rest of my existence as a single, grumpy, gray, gay old man. **MetalMouse** happy refereein’! So I looked up an audio pronunciation guide and the bot dude pronounced it with a flat “a”, as in “DALL-ya”. Mine is quite sickly looking and is starting to die back. It did have a last little wimpy bud or two, but they’ve given up. I’m waiting for it to be completely dead and then I’ll dig up the tuber for winter storage in ziploc bags with sawdust. ---

Up and broken fast, will leave shortly for my soccer referee duties as the field is some 30 minutes driving and has several turns/road changes to deal with. Irk wasn’t too irksome, despite me having to very sternly tell TM she was not permitted to log into our team meeting next week because she’s on annual leave. Don’t think she was too happy about it, but being on leave means being on leave. I know she logs in and looks at work emails when she’s off, she had a run-in (more than once, I suspect) with previous managers about doing that. I told her she could read the meeting notes when she was back from her three days off. Got home in good time, had yummy spagbol for dinner, then Uber’d ourselves into town and had a very fun evening at the Giffard. Two of our gig buddies were seeing The Wonderstuff and Inspiral Carpets at another local venue but they came to the Giff afterwards and we had a catch-up with them. Chatted to a couple of other people, found out some interesting band-related gossip 🙂 and made our way home in the early hours. Today’s plans are to stay in the house! There’s football this afternoon so town will be full of fans and the visiting team’s fans have a not very good reputation so we decided there was absolutely no need to go anywhere near that. Instead, we’re planning a slothful afternoon on the sofa watching films just because we can.
