That’s strictly for managers.

Man, lotta bra shopping going on 'round here.

Alright, I’ve had a comfy bio-break, and am gonna put on a “sleep story” and hopefully go the hell back to slumberland for a while.

I actually do go to a specialist shop for Italian bread, cos there’s a really good one the next town over, but that’s a pane instead. Not been in yonks, come to think of it. Maybe next Saturday…

I do relax with a lap full of Pepper sometimes, but she’s one of my ratties, and there’s only one of her. She’s a bit too hyper to be good at relaxing though. Her skills are more focused towards climbing, begging for treats and generally causing chaos.

Happy birthday **Wet One**!

Been a nice laid-back weekend here (which means I didn’t get the housework done, but don’t tell anyone!). I went to dinner last night with a group of friends and we went to a restaurant that serves Taiwanese food and it was rather tasty - most of the dishes are smaller plates meant to be shared so that meant we all got a good taste of just about everything on the menu. Never had Taiwanese food before and quite enjoyed it.

Meeting a different group for a late lunch today so need to try to run some errands before then. This is a chatty bunch so it’ll probably last two/three hours and take up most of the afternoon. Then it will be time for those thrilling Sunday evening chores such as laundry.

Nothing going on today. Still no newspaper, so those puzzles are undone.

I’ll be making hamburger stroganoff later today, as I don’t feel like paying exorbitant amounts for ribeye to slice up and the flavor profile is pretty much the same.

I mentioned my grand-kid above, who sings and plays in a high school jazz band. I posted how impressed I was with it on FB and promptly got taken to task by my son for using the wrong gender for her/him. I’ve known this kid since she/he was a baby and my brain just sometimes forgets that I’m now supposed to use male gender pronouns because she/he came out as trans. Also, at my age, the whole list of alternate identities is just confusing as hell. I’m not even sure what “trans” is supposed to mean. The kid is physically female but identifies as male? Is that it? Anyway, I dislike being nitpicked about it when I misspeak.

To quote **doggio** , _Otter corrupt is full of shirt_.

Happy birthday **wet one**!

Up, semi-caffeinated, breakfasted, a dryer full of towels folded / put away, Nelson’s car bed washed and in the dryer and KP done. Sis and BIL are off to Indiana. Stuff would have gotten done earlier, but I opted to stay out of their way while they were getting ready to go.

Every time I sit down in the living room, I have at least one pupper on my lap and a couple more on the other half of the love seat. Even Pugsly, Nelson’s brother-cousin has ventured up!

I just heard the dryer bell ding and I should get sheveled. Stay safe and healthy y’all!

That’s it. Your grand child is male in their identity and self. They are still just as much yours and need you in their corner more than ever.

“I dislike being nitpicked about it when I misspeak.”

Imagine how they feel when they are deadnamed. That’s a lot more painful and damaging than being ‘nitpicked’.

I’m sorry your son wasn’t more kind and thoughtful when he talked to you about it-he’s fiercely protecting his vulnerable child, which all of us understand.

Keep trying even though it is a learning process to not misspeak. We all believe you can do it.

Mostly yes, but it’s more than that. I’m willing to bet that all his life, he felt wrong. Not “He felt like something was wrong,” but rather he felt _wrong_. And that is a terrible feeling to have. Your grandkid is lucky though. He figured it out early and it sounds like your son’s love for him is without condition.

Your grandkid is on a very hard road and needs all the allies he can get.

I hope I didn’t come across as scolding. It’s obvious you’re proud of your grandkid. You should do - he’s done great things. He is also extremely brave. He came out. At a time when his right to even exist is being questioned, he came out. In high school, that wretched hive of scum and villainry, where peer pressure reigns supreme, he came out.

Your grandkid is extraordinary, and he deserves to know that his extraordinary grandfather has his back.

Oh. Gawd.

* * *

It’s been a busy spring, and summer looks like it will be more of the same. Mowing never ends but I’m kind of on top of it for the moment. Eternal vigilance is the key. The poor lawn tractor Had Issues early in the season that required repair twice before I could get mowing underway in earnest. The poor old thing! I think about buying a new one, but they’re just not sturdy enough for the abuse I put them to.

The big property challenge I’m dealing with just now is how to repair my pond. Thought I had it fixed but a new drainage hole has opened up. Obviously the problem is bigger than I first thought. But… who does one call to fix a leaking farm pond? I’ve Googlied every way I can think of, and there’s nothing in my area. There seem to be some expensive products made specifically to address this issue, but I’d prefer to pay an experienced person to apply them rather than just try my luck. The search for help continues, and I hope I find it in time.

Ollie is doing well and seems to have hit a maturity milestone with turning three. No more potty accidents in the house and he’s finally (sort of) learned recall so long as peanuts are involved. He only peed a little at the vet’s office on Friday when someone Not Me picked him up. He used to leave a trail, so I’ll take this improvement. I’ve cured his anal gland issues with psyllium husk, green beans and pumpkin. And we’ve got his itchy skin under control, too, with Zenrelia. Progress is so gratifying!

Hopefully I can keep up a bit better now the mowing is under control. My best to everyone, with hogs and quiches all around.

I missed the “folded” part, since your method is also mine. (If my shirt is rumpled, you know it’s clean! Cuz I had to fish it out from under a towel or whatever.)

Therefore @Mollie_Magill is more on the ball with life than me. 🏅

Soon, I will briefly murder some zombies, then go BACK to work and close AGAIN. I swear, this whole “working” and “adulting” and “chores” stuff is bullshit, man.

I stashed some brie & Triscuits in the walk-in, and in a hidden cubby 🤫 a squash soup, too, so I suppose sustenance awaits, as consolation.

I have a pile of clean but not-yet-folded laundry.

Happy birthday, wet one!

Currently 63 ferrets out of the predicted 73. It was downright chilly in here last night – down to 39 ferrets outside. Only supposed to go down to 51 tonight… .

Guess I’ll go fix a sandwich for lunch, and then start on that laundry. (At least get the two sheets that are in there folded and stowed, anyway.)

An excellent suggestion, but perhaps unfairly, my translation of “civil engineering” = $$$… $$$. Not an available option.

> [@BippityBoppityBoo](#):
>
> Or your county Extension office?

I did think of this, but I’m hesitant because I don’t know what obligation the Extension office has to notify other county agencies of these issues. Oregon takes the position that all surface water is theirs, and I have no quarrel with that. They’ve kindly overlooked my use of pond water to irrigate the landscaping around my house – a minor amount of water. I’m not growing commercial crops or anything. But if the county is looking for a reason to shut down that use and they find out the pond is no longer functional, they may not allow me to repair it. I’d hate to set that in motion, even if it’s only a remote possibility. It’s a great suggestion, though.

I mostly miss the wildlife that use it: Fish, newts, ducks, deer, bear, cougar and who knows what else. A mated pair of Bufflehead ducks used to nest on the pond every year. Two pairs of Canada geese always stopped by on their migrations. Blue herons and egrets. Hours of endless fun to watch!

Back when I had to count out the daily money, I had a coin bowl in my desk. Ten cents short? Put in a dime. Five cents over? Take a nickle out. It seemed to even out over time which I thought was interesting. I suspect my boss knew, but if she didn’t see me she couldn’t bitch about it.

Easy to tell that you are retired. Tomorrow is Memorial day, folks were getting ready for picnics and BBQs.

(I can sure see the results of trumps war, last Memorial day weekend traffic on the highway was constant, RV’s mixed between groups of motorcycles and side-by-sides. Its been very quiet this year, maybe ten groups of side-by-sides all weekend and no boats at all.)

I was over it long before I retired. Come to think about it, I was over it by the time I got my first paycheck.

So another day of sloth is ongoing. Yesterday I dragged all of the patio furniture cushions to the lawn and sprayed the dust off them, then let them dry in the sun. When I turned them over this morning, they were all overed with little slugs ICKICKICK!!! I left them on the grass and the slugs crawled off to get out of the sun.

I found a bag of the chestnuts I bought back in December and figured that I wouldn’t like them any more now than I did when I tried them last time so I put them out for the birds. The birds don’t seem ot be any more impressed than we were…
