**doggio** Say hello to Wilmington for me while you’re there. I spent about 2 years in the late 90s.

**flyboy** IMHO a sliding barn door for a bathroom is a really bad choice. The inherent physics of a barn door lead to a gap. Generally like at least a half inch.

As to me, I limped through Trader Joes…the sciatica is barking today. Apparently the two things I really went there for are either discontinued or in a production delay. Damn, I wanted falafel with tahini sauce. I’m couch riding (and day drinking) the rest of the day.

She went out to take a picture of the magnolia in its pot.

You can get [falafel mix](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=osem+falafel+mix&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8) at the supermarket, and it’s cheap too. I’ve never made tahini, but it looks pretty easy. They might even have some at the supermarket. I like falafel with tzatziki, which is also easy to make (and I’ve never seen Trader Joe’s out of it).

I decided to de-scale the ice maker. It took half a gallon of vinegar and a scotch brite pad to get the worst of it off. I need to clean it more frequently. Do those brita filters remove the minerals from hard water?

Bean soup is simmering. I’m chilling till it’s time to add the veggies. Higgs is hogging the footrest. Such is my life.

An Englishman goes into an American diner and orders the soup of the day. When he sees it he says disgustedly, ‘Good lord! What is this?’ The waitress replies, ‘It’s bean soup.’ The Englishman says, ‘I don’t care what it’s been! What is it now?’

Well, it’s the afternoon on Saturday and I’m back home. Left about 7:15am and after coaching 2 games and refereeing two more (U12’s, each 1 hour playing time), I am a bit tired…as in I haven’t changed clothes or even had the ambition to untie my shoes yet (feet are propped up though and I am loathe to move them). Was about 42F this morning, got up to 62F now, good weather but a little chilly to be running around in shorts. Still, it showed all that swimming and pedaling is paying off, I kept up with the players pretty good and while I am a little sore, it’s much better than I used to be. (unties and removes shoes).

So lets see what has been discussed while I was out on the fields…

I like your style. And hope the limp goes away.

**Shoe** , just think about your next paycheck… And concur, have made use of the Kroger faciilites before, they are usually in the front of the store and relatively clean. As for the parent and presents…open the damn box when you are ready, not before.

**Shady** , that is weird weather for sure.

**swampy** , sounds like you will have a bunch of well-fed church folks tomorrow.

**Sticky Buns** , I hope they listen to you and let you try the other option, and sucidal ideation as a side effect…EEEK!

**Pilot** , we will await your housing decision with great interest.

**Oopsie** , glad Bailey-dog is doing good, think you are being responsible on the medications.

**Flyboy** , wife is just keeping you busy and out of trouble…And I’m thinking about doing my first mowage tomorrow, since it now April…

**doggio** , I saw the North Carolina last suimmer; spent three hours looking around it and was never bored, hope you have a similar experience.

OK, shoes are off and socks rolled down, think I will try standing and walking to the bedroom for a change in my wardrobe. Catch you later tonight, all.

I bought buttermilk. 😲

I bought some keto hot dog buns this morning. I thought, ‘Hm… We have a couple of cans of oysters in the cupboard. Why not use them to make po’boys?’ OK, I know you’re supposed to use fresh oysters. And of course a po’boy should be served on a baguet or a French roll. But A) There are no keto baguettes; and 2) We _have_ the canned oysters.

Normally when I fry (canned) oysters I coat them with cornstarch, dip them in a beaten egg, and dredge them in seasoned flour. Today I’m giong to soak the oysters in **\*ick\*** buttermilk, and then dredge them in a mixture of cornmeal, flour, kosher salt, and paprika.

I think drinking buttermilk is disgusting 🤮; but it’s good as an ingredient.

Training was good. I didn’t know what to do, but the woman showed me. Left with a yummuy drink. I was to do 10-4 but am not at 100% yet so left at 2.
I am figuring all these health worries that keep popping up may be because last year I had 5 rounds, seperately, of antibiotics and it has messed with my immune system.
I am trying to figure what to take; probiotics? When I can afford it, I will get some B12 and Biotin for my dry breaking hair.
My lips are flaky too, but I am hydrating properly.
It is sunny and 50 out.
Monday tis to be sunny, until 3, and 70.

**doggio** will you water ski while wearin’ a tutu and tiara? I can totally see that.

**Flyboy** have fun with the magnolia and door. I agree with your opinion of buttermilk. It’s definitely for cookin’, not drinkin’.

My granny used to crumble a wedge of cornbread in an iced tea glass and pour buttermilk over it. She’d eat it with an iced tea spoon and called it a hillbilly milkshake.

I hope that your sciatica works itself out soonest **VanGo**.

I got an email from the H&R Block tax site saying that something else was needed to complete filing. After much cussing and a sudden 180 to recieving a refund to owing the exact same amount made me call the local branch and make an appointment for tomorrow. Oy!

Other than that, it’s been a quiet day. Dad called and we talked for a bit, but most of the day was spent hanging out in the studio.

Canned oysters are not ideal for po’boys. The intact ones are too small, and there’s a lot of ‘debris’. Sandwiches were good, though. Next time I’ll used the ones in the jar from the refrigerated section.

I haven’t been sleeping well. I don’t know why I keep having nightmares about my ex, but it’s getting old fast. However, I took the babushka cart to the garden store (Could’t go yesterdayy due to weather) to get this year’s hummingbird-loving fuchsia plus another flower that attracts hummingbirds. Then I walked to the grocery store and thence to World Market for SF coffee flavoring, which I use for tea and oatmeal.

Altogether, I walked just shy of 6 miles. My knee is crabby, but who cares?

Waves from Albuquerque. It is cold and windy. The room has lots of lamps so NF and I can both have good light.

As others have said, no apologies. Those are mongo toxic people and you are welcome to come here and offload some of that.

Virtual power indeed. And lots of it. Although you have some power to resist.

I hear that box will fit nicely in the biiiig trash bin without being opened. Just sayin.

As to your comment a couple of posts earlier about your likely last words with Dad. …

As we both know, even if there’s a great relationship, and even if you do everything as rightly as possible leading up to their death, there will always be that nagging feeling afterwards that you could have done more or different, or said one more sentence that you now regret never came out.

The trick is to recognize that even if you _had_ done those things differently per your recurrent grief-/worry-script, you’d still be having these feelings, just about some different thing left unsaid or undone.

With as badly as your situation with Dad, and especially Mom, is, there won’t be a good send-off; they’ll simply disappear one day and a bit like **Sticky** , you’ll get the news third hand some days or weeks later.

So start now with the self-talk that you already did your final good bye and the rest of what happened since then is just irrelevant details. The sooner you persuade yourself that’s true, the less it will hurt later. They sure don’t care, at least not in a way that’s nurturing to you. So you to not care either, because not caring about this/them is the way to nurture yourself.

Happy Saturday!

Or what’s left of it.

It got nice and N.O.S. this afternoon. It felt good to have the sun shining in the windows.

**Coppertone** , have you had your thyroid checked?
Sounds like it could be underactive.

**Oppsie** , check about Rimadyl and Prednisone together. I think it’s not that they can’t be taken together on the same day, but they can’t be taken together at all. I can’t remember for sure, but I think when Ripple had cancer, I had to take him off Rimadyl for several days before he could start prednisone.
Then again, I am often wrong and I can’t remember shit anymore.

Chicken Kiev is chicken stuffed with herbed butter. Chicken Cordon Bleu is stufffed with ham and cheese. You can usually find both in the frozen food section. There are other stuffings, like broccoli and cheese, and marinara and cheese.

My old house had a magnolia in the back yard. I miss it, it was very pretty in the spring, although the blooms don’t last very long.

**Nellie,** I’m sorry about the weird dreams.
And the cranky knee. Can you get a shot in it, it makes a world of difference.

Now if I could just work myself up to getting shots in my back.

Happy travels **JtC**.
I don’t know about Tai Chi. My balance is not good.
I also have, I don’t know, I get tired of talking about my health.
When I twisted my ankle, I swore the sidewalk went out from under me. Of course it didn’t. It doesn’t happen often but sometimes when I’m walking, I get weird sensations.
A few weeks ago, when I was letting the dogs out. I stepped down by the door and it felt like there was no floor there. I could see the floor, I could see my foot on the floor, but it felt like I stepped into a bottomless hole. I had just opened the door, so I could hold onto the door until the feeling passed.
I don’t know if that is from vertigo? Not that I know for sure I have vertigo, although the PT person thought from my eyes that I do.
My PCP was supposed to prescribe something for it and she didn’t. I’ll have to ask again next time I go.

Happy Vacationing **Doggio**

I’m sorry your parents are such PITAs **Shoe**

**Wheelie** , you are right, I am the last of those who put up with B/H mom.
If I repeated some of the things she has said…
She said something nasty in front of Petey dad one day. The look on his face!
And **Taters,** you are right, it’s not good to have negative people around
I don’t know why I haven’t told her off/hung up on her/ blocked her.
At least I have detached, so now I just let her ramble

Echo is not herself. I don’t know what is wrong with her.
I don’t think she is sick. She may be depressed. We haven’t been to the park for a bit. Petey dad has been sick and he’s not been going, so neither have we.
My son isn’t feeling good either. I don’t know what to do about him. He’s not sick like he was but he says his stomach hurts and burns. He’s being careful with what he eats and I got him some probiotic gummies. I think he may not be eating enough; he’s still living on yogurt and applesauce.

I had a rough night last night. I was up three times because of sciatic pain. I took another gabapentin at 330 and didn’t wake up until 930. I then slept most of today. I am tired of sleeping my days away. There is stuff that needs to be done.

Far too late to mention now, but as a heads up … nothing, and I mean _nothing_ will grow under a fully mature magnolia. You can have a yard full of dandelions, but under a magnolia tree will be nuthin’ but bare dirt.

And I read your advice. I don’t quite know how to respond, and I’m not sure if I’ll heed it or not, yet, but I wanted you to know your words weren’t ignored.

That is actually really good advice. A lot of what she’s describing could be an underactive thyroid.
Unfortunately, they could be a lot of other things, too, but a thyroid check for @SuntanLotion is an excellent idea.

> Chicken Kiev is chicken stuffed with herbed butter. Chicken Cordon Bleu is stufffed with ham and cheese. You can usually find both in the frozen food section.

They are both delishush, and the frozen premade ones are approx. 2.8 million times easier than homemade from scratch.

There’s a coupla-three different brands. Some use pre-cooked chicken so you can play it a bit fast & loose with baking times if you’re hungry & in a hurry, but at least one brand uses raw chicken - which is _not_ a knock against their quality, quite the opposite in fact - but for that one, def make sure you bake it as directed.

DAMMIT now I want one & the store closes in 14 minutes (and I hate being “that person” who runs in last minute for “just one thing!”) …

ETA: guess who lives just barely close enough to not be a complete asshole (made it out with four minutes to spare) _AND_ is preheating her oven?

May I pass along some sage advice from a few of my crew, when I showed up at work all sniffly and cringing about a toxic woman in my life?

“Ah, fuck her.”

Easier said than done, obvs.

Ulcer? Heartburn?

Jesus. Even I eat more than that. (Sometimes.)

ETA II: well never mind on the thyroid suggestion!

Monkey had been fussing at the windows since I got home from work, and when I returned from the last-minute grocery run, his black ass shot out the door betwixt my ankles.

I’m sure it’s the similar-looking black neighbor cat, causing trouble.

Anyway, I set a reminder to check for him in an hour and slammed the door shut. He thinks he can just roam in & out as he pleases in the middle of the damn night?

Nah.

He can whine and cry under the (cracked open) windows in the chilly air for a while.

Hmph. Time for supper.
