Huh, I never thought about that. I always split the tuna water between lager and koritza. Tonight should be the last meeting/event thing this week. Lager just acted out and got put in time out. He will be happier when our evening routine is more normal. ---

Evening all. Made it back to the gym and according to the machine’s computers burned an additional 400 calories for the day. And walking at 3.2 mph with a 6% incline for 11 minutes uses 108 calories, if the treadmill is to be believed. Home now and no plans to move anywhere except to bed Garbage is out at the curb, which means they won’t be around to pick it up until 2pm. **JtC** , an Apple Butter festival sounds like fun. Just had a bowl of applesauce upon coming home from the gym. **FCM** , guess she has to worry about something. I lived in 4 houses growing up and numerous apartments and this home on my own and never worried about them, **swampy** , stay safe and dry (except when you need to wet your whistle…) And that’s all for Hump day. I know that only because word around the kitchen is that mngmnt. ordered us a 12-pack of their unholy sibling: **Oreo flavored Coke** so we can all try it. I fear for humanity. * * * Didn’t give the ratties water before work, nor pack myself any lunch, since I thought I’d simply be off in a few hours. So I burned my 15 min. “lunch” break running home to refill all their water bottles & grab my treasured Stouffers to nibble on the rest of the night. They may be livestock destined for a snake-y ending, but they’re living creatures trapped under my sole care. I owe them the best I can do. We had TONS of “dead dough” towards the end of the shift so I had my pick of their “rat crackers” for tonight, the baking of which amuses management to no end. … they smell pretty good fresh out of the ovens, too, sorta like bland pita chips. ---

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ 'Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 78 and hurricane/tropical storm/apocalypse. So far it’s mostly rain, which is soon to start again. Looks like more on the line of below tropical storm winds are predicted. We shall see as the day goes on. Needless to say we shall remain inside and dry. Long as the power stays on, we’re good, I reckon. Looks like gubmint orifices and skools all around the area are closed today. I woke (did I really?) and saw the clock at 1:11. Then it seemed like just a minute or two later I had to visit the facilities, and it was 4:15. Then it was a couple of minutes later (?) and **FCD** was up, so it woke me a bit after 6. Maybe I slept more than I thought, or maybe not. Luckily, I don’t have to go anywhere today. I’ve been watching a couple of documentaries made in England - one on shoreline archeology and one on Irish lighthouses - and I saw that Prime has one on New England Mysteries. HAH! It’s some ghost-hunting BS. So disappointing. I want reality, not some woman claiming the ghost of a chauffeur who committed suicide tried to steal her camera. I’m sure I can find something else worth watching while I crochet. Today is our mostly non-rainy day of the week. Not that it matters - it’s too soggy out to do much yard work, especially not mowing. No idea what I’ll do. No doubt some mystery adventure will present itself, because my life is a mystery adventure… right. Happy Thursday! ---

Mornin’ everyone. It’s 51 degrees Fahrenheit, and our expected temperature is around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. We’ll have mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies and light overnight rain. It rained off and on yesterday, too. I don’t mind the rain; it makes the mushrooms grow. I am sending good thoughts to those of you in Helene’s path. I hope no one suffers any damage and everyone remains safe. We tried the Coke-flavored Oreos. Um, not my thing. They just tasted weird and nothing like Coke, and I have no plans to try Oreo-flavored Coke. I don’t really drink all that much soda anymore. I drink Diet Coke and, at the most, have one can a day. I drink water mostly, but every once in a while, I do enjoy a good old-fashioned Sasparilla, Birch beer, or root beer. The formal performance review went well, and we discussed plans for the upcoming year about both professional growth and plans for my program within the state. Some of those plans were the same plans I had last year but were shelved because of the extensive records management project, state meeting, hiring surge, and then trying to execute full-year spending in four months. I already have projects on my plate, like building a new state SharePoint site and coming up with a whole “local” onboarding program, training program, and various other modernization projects. BLUF: Review went well, and there was no criticism of anything I had done or planned. No bonuses. I did receive a 2500-dollar performance award over the summer for the year’s work. The state is allocated a set amount of money to be used as performance awards. Technically, employees should be rewarded on a quarterly basis, but since they don’t allocate any money until late in the FY for awards, we receive our awards during late summer. I receive the allocation, prepare a matrix with projected award amounts for all employees, and then send it out to the supervisors for discussion. We make final decisions on award amounts or time-off awards, prepare the paperwork and matrix, and send them off to HR and budget for fund certification. I sent the awards matrix during the last week of August; by mid-September, everyone had received their awards. I am a panel member for three interviews today that will suck up three to four hours of my morning so we can get the last of the hires in under the wire. I also need to check in with the new MPA, work with him if he’s still not wrapped up in training, design a new onboarding checklist, see if it’ll work as a Power App, and do some general housekeeping with my electronic files. Part of me wants this to be a spreadsheet kind of application because there are some things that are ongoing and require commenting and updating, and some forms don’t have the capability for that. I don’t know; I must figure it out and get those creative juices flowing. I haven’t really done much with Power app forms other than creating a survey. I’m sure I’ll be interrupted a lot today, so the chances of anything actually being complete are low. I need another cup of coffee. ---

That’s on top of the departmental meeting I was at yesterday, so tomorrow will most likely involve two sets of minutes to write. Oh joy. Good morning everyone. It is still raining! It is wonderful, everything is wet and drippy and the grass is practically growing in front of my eyes. Something’s going on around the curve where the burned transformer was, I can see traffic slowing and pausing but I’d have to walk down the street (in the rain) to see what’s happening. Most of the local arts and crafts will probably be too country for my taste, but there will be lots of people selling all sorts of different foods so I’ll probably spend a bit of money there. Morning all. Up to micturate about 4:30am and then went back to bed until 7am. haver broken fast and will run the dishwasher here shortly. All we’ll get from Helene is rain and thunderstorms starting sometime this afternoon, so like **FCM** my mowage is on indefinite hold. Will probably try to get to the gym for a bit pre-rain exercise and since I’ve heard the trash truck pass by, I’ll bring the bin into the garage. We’re supposed to have a soccer game today but I suspect they’ll close the fields before we can play it. **Shoe** , my Mom had bone spurs, they are not fun and my best wishes to **SM.** And Coke-flavored Oreos (or Oreo-flavored Coke) are two tastes that probably go better as separate ingestions. I love Oreos, but Coke flavored Oreos sound gross. OTOH, Oreo flavored Coke would be chocolate Coke which isn’t bad. Having allergy shots this morning followed by the yearly cardiologist check in. Then sloth. ---

So I was loading and split sorting in Blue 128 today. which while chaotic, is enjoyable. Except…someone in the sort aisle was heaving unscanned boxes onto Blue belt, and the mouth breather doing the pick off for Blue wasn’t throwing missorts and unscans down the missort chute, but just letting them ride to 128. Loader looking at empty rollers: “Are we getting anything?” Me: "No. Litterally none of this is scanned. that took a while to unscrew. and I tore my pants. And i have a hole on my sock. And I just don’t feel fresh. But I survived it.
