Thought she’d had her surgery? Poor George.

I am always happy to pass along things from my grandma. It’s one way she still lives.

1/4 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
3 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tablespoon butter

Scald 2-1/2 cups of the milk. Blend the dry ingredients until evenly mixed. Stir in the 1/2 milk ubtil smooth. Stir this carefully into the scalded milk. Cook until thick, stirring to be sure it doesn’t scorch._(I put it in the top of a double boiler to cook)_ When thickened take it from the fir and stir in vanilla and butter. It can then be poured into serving dishes.

As a pie I poured it into a baked crust and chilled it, then topped with slightly sweetened whipped cream. When Kool Whip came out grandma was satisfied to us that, but I love real cream on some things. This pudding is very versatile. If you make it let me know how it comes out. To me it’s a taste of my childhood.

Her first spay was back in March. The vet missed a bit of ovarian tissue and has to go back in and find it.

This is the third time she has gone into heat since we got her. All of the other reasons for her acting out had to be investigated first. We get it, this isn’t a common thing and we certainly don’t want a vet who would cut into our cat on our word alone. But…living with an in-heat cat just sucks. Nobody is happy and the furry ones are confused.

The official name for what we are dealing with is Ovarian Remnant Syndrome. It happens and we aren’t mad at the vet.

We think it is kinda ironic because all of our other cats came through the Cat Distribution System (except GG who was a spite cat). Free cats are never free and usually cost a lot of money. We thought we could game the system by paying for a rescue cat.

HA!HA! said the CDS. The progesterone test alone was 300 bucks.

So after 44 hours off football horror, I’m ready to pour Everclear on my cerebral cortex and move on to hockey season in 16 days. But I cleaned the apartment, did 2 loads of laundry, cleaned Spot’s box, took out the trash and recycling, and took a late afternoon nap. Now I’m having poke loin, baked **N.O.T.** , salad, and a martini for dinner. Back to work in the early A.M.

Also, one time the local cops raided the nail shop next to Chuck’s, so I walk out of work to see 8 RPD cars parked in front of Chuck E. Cheese with lights a flashin’.

I was referring to the second surgery to fix that. 🙂

Hope it happens soon, for everyone’s sanity (including hers).

So yesterday I removed the sides, ends, and the top of the 20’x10’ canopy garage. I put on the new top (which was a royal PITA) and the sides, and blew out the debris with a leaf blower. I think I mentioned I’d hit the wall and couldn’t do anymore. Have I ever mentioned both of my knees were damaged over 40 years ago? Today after putting out the trash and recycling and going to church, I put up the ends and put the Seca II, YZF-R1, and the MGB into their positions within. I’d put down 10 cinder blocks to ensure the garage wouldn’t move in the wind – even though I have ratchet straps in tie-downs. I took those up and made an elevated platform at the rear of the garage. Then I used the old elastic-and-ball things from the old canopy to hang the kayak stuff. After resting a night and taking ibuprofen, today’s job went quickly.

SWMBO made me go to church with her. We sat behind a particularly annoying (to me) woman. First of all, I don’t like the songs they sing in this church. I had a secular upbringing, so I expect songs out of a hymn book. The songs they sing in this church are new. But this woman insists on singing. _Loudly_. And she’s flat. And she can’t keep the tempo and/or she’s trying to sing harmonies and back-up. It hurts my ears. SWMBO says it’s God testing me. I told her it’s torture.

Ons of Wifey, RN’s patients is a pet-sitter. We’re going on holiday next month, and the sitter came by to meet the cats. They wanted none of her (as I suspected). Abbey hid under a bed. Goo was coaxed out from wherever she was when I got out some Temptations treats. She’s take them from me (although I had to put them on the floor), but the sitter had _very_ limited success. Anyway, we have someone to watch the cats while we’re away. We’re staying in the state, so we’re only a day’s drive away if we need to come home.

BLATs for dinner tonight.

> That is some profound misdirection though lol.

It makes for a great story, but it’s not _that_ bad. Dallas is relatively close to the OK border, and the whole DFW metroplex is so vast that heading from the eastern part of Dallas to a suburb in the western part of Ft. Worth could conceivably take approx. the same amount of time.

At least they both know the routine.

Sorry you’re dealing with her, though; cats in heat are No Fun. (Unless, I suppose, you’re a tomcat.)
