A thoroughly lazy day of utter slothage here at Casa Del Shoe today.

Slept in, ate, smoked, snuggled **Monkey** until he was sick of the attention, wandered back to bed & took an extended nap (it was the cat’s idea), grudgingly shuffled back up & out since I can’t smoke in bed anymore (and cuz, well, had to pee), and since I was vertical threw some frozen shit in the oven, ate some more, decided a post-meal smoke would be nice, etc.; much stoopit video watching ensued in the meantime.

I would go nutz if this was my every day (no wonder my retired neighbor mowed the same strip of lawn _three times_ earlier this afternoon) but man, sometimes ya gotta do some sittin’ around. This the 1st day in a while that my back doesn’t remind me of my increasingly decrepit age.

* * *

I’d turn off **Coolio** (my window A/C) since it’s not too balmy out, but a coupla days ago, I threw away the other old smoke detector. Now that it’s out in the bin & buried under some really filthy garbage, it’s started emitting this pathetic, nonstop beeping.

Of COURSE I forgot it’s a holiday & trash pickup is delayed a day, so the damn thing has been beeping out there at the curb for a while now. My neighbors must hate me.

Anyway, **Coolio** is on “fan” mode to provide white noise as auditory coverup.

I was enjoying sitting outside last night watching the stars come out & listening to the frogs/crickets, but the mosquitoes & beeping eventually drove me ~~insane~~ back inside.

I’m pretty sure that Amazon thinks it would take a large percentage of the DSM to describe me. Doesn’t help that DH and I use the same account (we feel no need to pay for separate Prime accounts for the same household).

Going to a really skeezy part of Frankfurt and drinking with the GIs, for one. We’re talking about the roughest part of the city: booze, sex, drugs, etc. They were always in a group, but that doesn’t deter somebody who’s determined.

That’s kinda tame. I thought she was sharing her floozy stories. My mother does not know that I had sex on two Air Force 1s. As far as she knows I was as pure as Ivory Soap until I got married.

Not much happened today. It stayed nice and cool and we even got a little rain which was nice. Harry has been out on his mower, so Hubs will probably get out in the morning so he can keep up with the Joneses.

I have a long list of things to do tomorrow, starting with calling our new vet to ask if he will feel comfortable re-spaying Jolene. We were originally going to take her back to the original surgeon because she knows how she works so might not have to poke around as much, but Hubs is concerned that the vet might resent the implication that she had made a mistake. Or something like that.

I’m pretty sure he’s wrong, I can’t imagine a rescue vet being so unkind or unprofessional, especially when we are willing to pay for the re-do. I also kinda think the original vet might want to be the one to re-do the surgery as a learning experience, but this is not a hill worth dying over.

Dinner tonight was the leftover chicken and parm sauce from last night but different. I cut up the leftover breast and put it in a bowl and mixed it along some chopped carrots, sauteed mushrooms and thawed frozen peas into the sauce. That got poured into a casserole dish and covered with leftover mashed taters. I baked it until it got bubbly and then broiled it until the potatoes browned.

It came out pretty good, but needed more salt. I always forget how much potatoes absorb salt, this is a common mistake for me.

I started a new needlework piece today and learned that while Jolene is able to ignore me when I’m using regular floss, she cannot resist metallics. The shiny gold sparkling in the light is just too tempting for her to ignore. I’ll be stitching that one while they are sleeping, lest one of us get hurt when she launches herself at my needle.

From what I’ve heard heard, management is getting replacement estimates. The kids across the fence have knocked it down in places and the ones before them made the holes. Nelson is always leashed outside ('cause he’s a cabroncito to our gentle giant neighbor dog, he doesn’t even get to be unhooked for supervised play time with the poodles next door).

Oh, trust me, I get the humor!

If it was louder/more annoying, I’d be tempted to ~~set fire to the whole thing~~ do, I dunno, something, but as it is, it’s just this muffled _“beep beep mmeeeep … beep beep mmeeeep …”_ from underneath a mound of stinky used rat bedding, and it just sounds so hilariously pathetic.

Aw, SHIT I totally forgot!! One of the crew showed up Sunday night with what _had_ to have been a hickey on her neck, and I meant to give her a bit of ~~crap~~ gentle teasing for it, and then stuff happened and I forgot.

I used to have a friend who bred and showed Poms. She had two intact males who were as sweet as could be with every dog they ever met. Her retired male was an aggressive asshole who had to be leashed and muzzled anytime they went out somewhere other dogs were because he would start the fight and the other dogs would finish it.

I’m not a big fan of metallics, but the new ones are much easier to work with as long as you stitch with the twist. The finished piece will be two cats in profile, silver over gold. The pics were beautiful, so here’s hoping I get it right.

One of my sisters told me that she was preggy with child #3 (with father #3). I guess I just assumed she had told Mom because Mom was the one paying her rent.

I was wrong, I just dropped it in conversation and Mom said “Linda’s pregnant again? How did that happen?!?!” Me: Mom, you had four kids, haven’t you figured it out by now?

How was it? I tend to forget about them because they are so long between.

Our housekeeper’s kid was sick today so she called off. I thought that our kitchen floor looked too grubby to wait until Friday so picked the kibble bowl up and unplugged the fountain. As long as I was started, I dumped the fountain and put it in the dishwasher and got that started, then tossed the kitchen rug and all of the place mats into the washing machine.

Then I mopped the floor. I have a love/hate relationship with that floor. The white ceramic tile has raised textures that were placed to make a beautiful pattern. It just glows when it is clean. One drop of water makes it look nobody has mopped it in a week. I usually spot mop on a daily basis while depending on our housekeeper to get the corners and edges when she is here.

Half an hour later, Jolene woke up from their nap and went to the kitchen for some kibble. When she saw that the bowl and place mat was gone, she ran right into Hub’s room and climbed into his lap and whined at him. That got GG going, his kitten was unhappy. So now everyone is upset because Jolene had to drink water from a bowl on the floor because I am such a beast.

I’m making a weed run on Wednesday.
