Good morning.
Itās 40F and cloudy outside. The day will contain considerable cloudiness and afternoon rain showers, with an expected high temperature of 51F.
**BooFae** , I also saw the news about your sweet boy on FB. I wish I could do more than send internet hugs. He was well-loved and had a good home with you. Now, he gets to romp with Ophelia.
**BBBoo** , thanks for passing on greetings from **Nellie.** I look forward to her return.
**Shoe,** Iām sorry last night was so incredibly sucky. I hope today is much, MUCH better.
**FCM,** with as much crap as youāve had with credit cards, Iād be once bitten, twice shy too. Iām glad your BiL may not lose his place, but I hope those dealing with him have a backup plan.
Thanks to all of you for your hugs and support. @Chefguy, with the number of years of service I have, I _ **shouldnāt** _ have to worry about potentially losing my job, but these people are not playing by the rules. They are coming for our pay and benefits next, and Iām also worried about my retirement. I have nearly 42 years of public service and would like to continue serving. I love my agencyās mission and we do a lot of good.
In the meantime, others have lost their jobs, and itās just wrong. **JtC,** of _course_ theyāll blame Biden. Idiots.
Iām supposed to return to the mall for some facial thing today. I donwanna. I want to hang out with my pups. I missed my āofficematesā and want to spend as much time as possible with them. I also need to do laundry.
I also need to run the steam cleaner because I woke up to Maisie throwing up on the carpet in my bedroom this morning. I cleaned it up as much as possible for now, but my husband is still sleeping, so I must wait for him to wake up. I donāt know what the hell she threw up. Most of it looked like bile.
The good news is that my daughterās new house is really coming along. The drywall is in, so theyāre coming down the homestretch.
The grandkids are doing fantastic and seem to love life over in Missouri. I miss them, but I hope to see them sometime this year. Right now, I need to get through this crap before I make plans where Iām spending large sums of money.
Buster is sleeping on my feet as I type this. Itās nice and quiet, and I will finish my coffee before I start my chores. You all take care of yourselves.

**FCD** got a call from his current case worker and passed on a message that heād like to meet, face to face, with the next person handling BIL to give some background. I hope they take him up on it because thereās a lot of history that Iām sure it will help for them to know. But weāll have to see.
Oddly enough, BIL seems to trust me more than his brother. I fear he may see me as a surrogate mother. \< _shudder_ \> Hereās hoping the new case workers/whatever can get a handle on his issues quickly.
I went to the garage to get more cat litter and I heard a fan. It sounded like the one in the attic, but that only comes on when it gets hot up there, and itās definitely not hot today. Then I figured out it was **FCD** ās vehicle. So I called him to the garage. Turns out, if you push the start button twice when you turn off the car, it goes into āAccessoriesā mode, and thatās why the fan was on. Much as I like his vehicle, I HATE some of the stuff Hyundai has done that canāt be undone. Iāve seen complaints on their website and requests for a software update. Itād be nice if they listen.
I swear. some designers/programmers donāt know how to think like ordinary users. Remember how difficult it was to set the clock on VCRs? Setting the clock on my microwave is a fiasco, too. And finding settings and such on my phone and tablet - it shouldnāt be as complicated as it is. Companies should put their products in front of ordinary folks and watch them_emphasized text_ try to figure out how to do things. Seriously! Iām not stupid, but Iām also not a programmer and whatās obvious or instinctive to them aināt that way to me.

Morning all. Have made the Sunday NY Times run so waiting for the clock to move along before heading off to the Golden Corral. Tunder-boomers and high winds last night but the back fence survived this time so that is one less worry. However, it brought in a cold front and high temperatures this week wonāt get past the 40āsF, and we might get a dusting of snow on Wednesdayā¦and to think a week ago it was near 70Fā¦weather be weird.
**{{{{boo fae}}}** , so very sad for your loss, it is one of the great heart-breaks that our pets cannot live as long as we do. Be well.
**Shoe** , some folks tend to wear their emotions on their sleeve and rather ignore that other people are about; hopefully his chastisement by **S.M.** calmed his behavior. Glad your nose survived.
**{{{Taters}}}** , just hope things start calming down this week so you (and your chiefs) can get a handle on the chaos.

And that is the most infuriating part of all of this. So many people depend so heavily on government services but voted to make them go away or be privatized. (pay more and get less)
You have my most sincere sympathy. Iāve given up myself. A month ago, I would have been horrified to know that the rents on the low income apartments were going up from $40 a month to $1200 a month. I would have been so worried about the residents and would have been helping raise money and find other places to live, letters to politicians and newpapers, etc. Now I just figure that this is what they voted for, Iām happy they got what they wanted.
The rains are still falling. The flooding is relentless and record breaking. The neighbors by the river have water lapping at their back doors and a lot of folks are stranded on the wrong side of the water.

His mom took care of him and then he got married and his wife took care of him until she was tired of it. Then his mom took care of him again. Heās used to females taking care of him, of course he expects you to take over, its all he knows.
So as mentioned above, there is a lot of water in many wrong places today. Weāve had half an inch of rain so far today and its still coming down. There was some pretty loud thunder last night which upset the fuzzbutts a whole lot.
Currently Iām counting emergency vehicles heading down towards the river crossing a couple of miles away. The last one was a four-wheeler hauling a boat so Iām guessing theyāve got a car in the water because all of the homes that way are single level.

Oh, the microwave is a piece of cake compared to my car. Unless the battery needs to be disconnected for some reason, the time never gets changed, I just remember that itās an hour off for part of the year.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, chicken marinating for a Sunday dinner of chicken korma and fixing to KP / Sunday chores.
Last night, it poured rain and the wind howled. I got flash flood alerts three times and around 0400, I heard a branch fall from one of the trees. When I took Nelson out this morning, there was a good sized branch across my stoop, another on the walkway, one on the roof, one across the patio next door and a limb across the walk three doors down. My two neighbors and I managed to move the branches soās the dogs could be walked (the two standard poodles next door, Link three doors down and Nelson) and sent a snapshot to maintenance. I was kind of worried, since one of the big oaks in front of my next door neighborās apartment is marked for cutting. Now the WPTB are calling for snow.

I hope you arenāt in danger of flooding! And random question - how did you decide WV was the place you wanted to move to when you left Arizona?
Itās been a busy weekend. Logged onto to work for several hours yesterday and again this morning. Hopefully Iām done for the day. Iām trying to muster up energy to put on real clothes and go to the store. But I also need to figure out what Iām going to eat this week, so using that indecision as a great excuse to put it off a bit longer. Which I will regret because then the store will be packedā¦

One good thing about changing all the accounts that VISA pays - Iāve memorized the account/date/CVV for the new card now. But I have to call 2 places because they donāt allow updating on their sites. And Iām having a terrible time with my internet provider - something in our account isnāt right. I think Iāll be making a phone call tomorrow, hoping I can get a person instead of the stoopit bot phone tree.
Rain has been weird - going from essentially nothing to gawd-awful downpour to gentle shower. All I know for sure is the yard is squish-squish-squish and it wonāt be getting better anytime soon.
Iām getting away form the screen for a bit.

Thanks for the concern, we are fine. The river is at 27-28 ft now and expect to peak at around 31 ft. We are across a one lane road, a train track on a nice berm and a gully from the river and probably another 10 ft higher.

He has family here and believe it or not, AZ is more maga than WV. It was rather intimidating to have an unfriendly group of armed men take my picture when I was walking into a polling place as was common in AZ.
And water. I missed water so much, I would dream of large bodies of water and wake up crying. Our water bill was around 150 a month when we left July last year and the rates have tripled since then.
I wanted to look out the window and see more green than our struggling patch of clover.
Global warming made the summers hotter and longer, the monsoons were mostly nonsoons and the cost of living was sky-rocketing.
tldr: it was complicated.

Oh, _into_ the pantry! Iām okay with that, but taking them out, not so much.
Iām going to get way behind on stuff today, no way around it. The NASCAR season kicks off with the Daytona 500, and weāre having guests over for it. Theyāre bringing charcuterie, which helps, but it cuts into my puzzles, games, and news-growfing time.
(My Dire Straits pill alarm just went off. Iām back now.)

For my last cat, I got one of those cat toys thatās a wad of rubber bands and feathers on the end of a long, springy wire. I clamped it to a chair, and Freckles would amuse himself for hours, jumping and grabbing that thing. Heād stop, and the air from the furnace would make the feathers twitch. He couldnāt resist pouncing again.
{{{{Boofae}}}} Itās so hard to lose a pet. After our last one, they sent us a little carved wooden box with his ashes in it, along with a plaster cast of his little paw print. That was supposed to be comforting, but after a while with those on the mantle, I dunno.

Sometimes I get upset that pets donāt live longer. Thatās a little, very little, joke. My Atilla is approaching and while he seems healthy for a senior, heās been yowling every so often, loudly, and I donāt know why.
Remember the funny times, the times he knocked things over, or curled up on you. I will give both my pets extra scritches in his honor.

I mean the decision to leave doesnāt sound complicated at all. Iāve enjoyed Arizona every time Iāve visited, but the climate isnāt for me. Like you, I need more green things and water in my life. I was just surprised that WV is where you chose to land, as it isnāt a place I think of where people move to it vs away from it. But having family around certainly simplifies the decision.
