Oh, I’m well aware of the hazards of shoveling when you shouldn’t. Last time I did, I’d shovel a bit (small scoops, not a full load) and then take a break, then come back and do some more. There was no rush so I could go at my own pace. Plus I had a recent stress test and the cardiologist said I was good. 👍

I’ll add it to my watch list. We’re watching _No Offence_ - it has moments of hilarity for all that it’s a serious show.
Just finished baking [these](https://www.theseasonedmom.com/wprm_print/easy-oatmeal-cookies-with-ginger-and-molasses/#) - and I can recommend! I was out of cloves so I used nutmeg instead, and they’re still quite good. But I’ll add cloves to my shopping list.
Speaking of _Death in Paradise,_ the Christmas Special 2023 was particularly stoopit, specifically because of the gasped-out-final-words trope, but also because of a few other stoopit things.
The show starts with the family patriarch found dying in a ravine under a balcony of their sumptuous home. His last words to the woman who found him were a very cryptic “It’s behind you.” Not “My son pushed me” (sorry, spoiler.) Then the woman who found him disappears (later found to have been knocked on the head, resulting in, you guessed it, amnesia.) And the cherry on top - those last words referred to the vase that is seen behind the woman who found him when they were on a business video chat (he in the Caribbean, she in London.) She was going to fly to the islands for Christmas to seal some kind of deal or something - I forgot the premise.
Anyway, apparently in a video chat on a laptop, he recognized the vase as a $6 million Ming Dynasty treasure (it’s always Ming Dynasty, isn’t it?) rather than, yanno, something she picked up at a thrift store. So instead of saying, maybe “Your vase is Ming” he chose to say “It’s behind you.” Got it so far?
OK, the daughter was an art student, so she knew the vase was a treasure. Her boyfriend was a thief, among other things, so the plan was to bring the woman to the island for the holidays while boyfriend broke into her house, stole the vase, replaced it with a replica (of course, they found an exact replica) and ship the vase back to the island. Because brother and sister were broke and they needed the $6 million. Got it so far?
So after seeing a still photo of the woman taken from the video chat, and having been told the last words of the victim, our hero Detective Inspector suddenly figures it all out, the siblings and the boyfriend are hauled off to jail, and the woman, now over her amnesia, is reunited with her fiance and tells him they have a priceless vase and they live happily ever after.
Am I right that it’s just a bit out there?? 🤣
I still like the show - it’s fun to watch, if not even remotely realistic. And, after all, this show was the start of season 13 - I expect it gets hard to come up with fresh plots.
OK, I need to clean the kitchen after my cookie making spree. Quit distracting me!!!

Is it really? Cause I’m still seeing the UPS truck on the highway a couple of times a day and we are still getting regular deliveries, they just aren’t amazon boxes anymore.
Our mattress will be arriving by UPS on Friday if all goes well. This is where my treat box comes in so handy. All of the delivery drivers are willing to put the heavy boxes inside our door if I ask them to.

We will not own a snow shovel because I don’t want to have to beat Hubs to death with it when he has a heart attack shoveling snow. He is too old and his heart is too dicey to be doing that sort of thing anymore. I’m certainly not going to do it, that’s what my checkbook is for.

If you were a trilobite you’d consider that to be dinner and just keep working!
So no swimming for at least three days. As expected when the filters were cracked open and they got a good look inside, they found more broken parts and the pool got filled with ick so it is getting half drained and then chemically shocked.
That kinda sucks because I really do not like doing laps to start with and once I get out of the habit of going every day, it is hard for me to get back into it. I know I really shouldn’t complain all that much, I’m able to use it for free, I should be grateful that they take keeping the water clean and safe so seriously.

I like to watch Storage Wars. Every single episode is the same, people get mad at each other for outbidding them and then go through other people’s stuff before finding something odd that they just happen to know an expert who can identify it. But…I’m also a big Zillow fan just because I like looking in other people’s homes.
Hubs is at the cardio-doc now and will be coming home afterwards. Cousin’s other daughter arrived with husband and two twenty-something daughters last night. One of the daughters has offered to take Hub’s place at cousin’s house with the dog so Hubs will be staying here for a few days.
Ronald is doing marginally better. He’s more aware and responsive, but his white blood cell count is still super high and his kidneys are starting to shut down. He’s had swallowing problems as long as I’ve known him so they are tube feeding him and he is losing weight. He’s one of them scrawny West Virginia hillbillies, he doesn’t have any fat to lose.
I never get tired of watching our fuzzbutts cuddle.

Happy Wednesday everyone.
Working from home today because we had an ice storm come through overnight. The storm woke me up several times last night - it was thundering and sleeting like crazy, and loud enough to jar me awake even with a sound machine going!
Fortunately not so much that power outages are an issue, but by all accounts the roads are a mess.
If roads improve, I might try to pop over to the convenience store, but otherwise will be holed up.

**BBBoo** sorry to hear about your tooth. Dental pain is so terrible and you just can’t ignore it (not to mention how dangerous an infection in your face is). Also, I don’t blame you for not wanting to do a bone graft. I had to do a graft before they did my second implant, and wowzers that was soooo much more painful than the actual implant.

I’ve been remiss in thanking whomever recommended the cat brush I ended up ordering, and I can’t remember who it was. It was from a website selling dog brushes, and I bought the smallest one they had. Has lots of long wire bristles and is purple, if that helps. Anyway, Sadie LOVES this thing, coming in every day begging to be brushed, and it really does a good job of picking up a lot of undercoat hair. I mean, my clothing still looks like I’m wearing a yeti costume, but it’s early days yet. So THANK YOU!

that is sooooo adorable! what cuties.
it is an invasion! more than 1 million people will be squished into the parkway. as the parade moves along the route people will move behind it to the art musuem.
the biggest shutdown in the city was when the pope was here for a weekend. that was insane. we had armed national guard on the streets. lager was on the local news!
i’ll see what mood he’s in on friday. he may take a tour of the edges of the crowd in his eagles shirt. lager does support the philly teams.

Hubby and I both enjoyed it and Warehouse 13 as well. It was a bit strange at first watching Colin Ferguson as the Sheriff, because we had just seen him being rather evil in _[Haven](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haven_(TV_series))_.
We’ll probably watch both _Eureka_ and _Warehouse 13_ again some day.

Loving the visual picture.
My back’s getting better, but I decided to not risk the gym quite yet. Just did some stretches during the day, plus some ibuprofen.
For the last 30+ years, hubby’s been carrying a card I gave him when we were dating. It looks like it fell out of his wallet, and he’s bummed. I’m still hoping it’ll show up randomly in the next weeks. I think I might be able to get the same card, but I’m not sure. At least the company is still in business.
Have to get up early to go to the dentist tomorrow. Hopefully it’s just a normal checkup.

Well, I’m just tickled pink with myself. We’ve been watching shows on Britbox by connecting the laptop via HDMI cable to the TV. Mixed results, and with the new laptop, I’m getting a lot of lag for some reason. So today, armed with nothing but courage and my outsized brain, I decided to try to install the app onto my LG. And, after only mild cursing and sotto voce muttering, I succeeded. I await the plaudits from the Doperverse.

I estimate that we got 4-5" of snow overnight. It’s on the wet side, but was easy enough to shovel this morning. The roads seem alright if a little sloppy around the edges, but I could see some surfaces being a little slick. It’s overcast and temps are just barely above freezing, and we’re supposed to get a wintry mix this evening, so most folks are staying solidly indoors. It’s been pretty quiet out there. 🙂 Schools are closed, and the tattoo removal place also closed today (they called this morning; I rescheduled my appointment to next month). When I shoveled I included the driveway behind my car to the street, but I didn’t clear the car off: tomorow there will be rain in the morning then gradual clearing with a forecasted high in the upper 40s, so I’m hoping Mother Nature will take care of the car for me by the time I have to head to my late afternoon optometrist appointment. Friday will be cooler again but sunny, so after I finish working (around noon) there should be no issues getting Bailey to the vet for boarding and getting myself to MD for the jazz festival weekend. 🎶
I’m officially 6 for 6 in terms of not being selected to attend any of the late February/early March U.S. Supreme Court sessions. But the late March/early April argument sessions are available now, and this time I entered the lotteries for _all_ of them. 🤞 I’ll keep trying for as long as I keep remembering to check [the site](https://ticket.supremecourt.gov/OnlineTicketing/Request) every now and then!
I love that Peanuts strip, **doggio**! I used to have a virtual collection of the baseball-related Peanuts strips. Might be time to rebuild, starting with that one. 😁

I use (and love) fragrance-free Aveeno lotion. 🙂
I tend to avoid floral- or food-scented items. My bathroom soaps are usually in the “fresh water” or “clean linen” families. The exception is my kitchen: I like – or, at least, tolerate – the lemony [Kitchen Fresh Hands](https://www.softsoap.com/en-us/products/hand-soap/antibacterial-kitchen-fresh) (antibacterial and odor neutralizing) soap there.

I went for my periodontal cleaning today and complained about my implant. I have an appointment to have it removed in three weeks.

The white stuff is starting to fall here, we’re under a storm watch until tomorrow morning. Hope it isn’t too bad, I have no idea what the rental car can do in snow. With my 4WD truck I could plow through most anything.

My keychain feels weird. Blown head gasket is a cancer of cars, along with rust and salt, for those of us in the snow belt.

Our severe weather warning just got extended through tomorrow morning. Possible another inch of snow and windchills of minus 27 degree. No doubt school will be closed for another day so I won’t get to horrify the afterschool building club with strings of bloody drool but then it’s also likely that the University will be closed (it is today) and that’s where my surgery is supposed to happen, at University College of Dentistry post graduate periodontics clinic. It took D-Day levels of calling in markers and nudging multiple faculty members as only a night nurse can to get this appointment instead of waiting 6 weeks to be seen in mid-March at the ‘first available’ appt. I hate to think about the wait if tomorrow falls through. I just want the pain over-it’s sapping my soul.

I know the feeling. 3 vehicles totaled in the past 6 years (never my fault). Nice, loyal low mileage Civics. Crossing appendages for you to find another AWD low mileage loyal vehicle that makes your keychain happy.

Dishes washed, prescriptions filled, and swimming swum. Still need to put the dishes away and put the garbage bin out, but that can come later. Munching on the day’s second apple.
And it is still raining steadily here and will continue into the night. Glad the temperatures are in the 50’sF, if it were 20 degrees cooler we’d be trapped inside until March.
**Sticky Buns** , it’s not often we see the immediate fruits of our labors; enjoy the new washing machine.
**Cookie** , you’re way ahead of me on this app business. Enjoy! (and take two plaudits out of petty cash).
**Oopsie** , continued crossed appendages for winning the Court Lottery; way things are going in D.C. these days you could end up witnessing history…
**VanGO** , like saying goodbye to a family member…only car I was really attached to was a Toyota Highlander I got in 2003 when I came back from overseas…loved that car.

Yes, he’ll be ok, he’s had experience driving in Michigan winter conditions.
And that is just awesome that your snow guy came by and took the initiative to clear your driveway!
It started snowing here 3 hrs ago but they’re little bitty flakes so I doubt there’s even 1/8" yet. Although the sirens went off an hour or so ago meaning get your vehicles off the street so we can plow during the night. After we picked up Hubs car, I stopped at the library, then Kroger to pick up a circular. When I got home, Hubs had already backed his car into the backyard part of the driveway anticipating a snow emergency siren. Smart man.

Good thing cousin’s family is gathering. Best to spend time with someone while they are alive and not have regrets.
**VanGo** I feel you. I got my Explorer in Spring 1996 and it went up onto a flat bed in October 2014 as a tradein. I felt bad about having to let it go (a lot of adventures and memories in that car) but, like yours, it had problems that would have cost $$$$ to repair.
Laundry is done so need to go hang it up. Catch you all after you’re over the hump.

We decided to try the new Mexican place that opened in California (MD) - [Tia’s Cantina.](https://tiascantina.square.site/) It took over an abandoned bank building - **FCD** and I imagined getting your food at the drive-thru via the pneumatic tubes. It got a little silly after that. 🤣
He really liked his taco salad. I got Chesapeake enchiladas (crab and shrimp and waaaaay too much cheese) and I won’t get them again. I thought the menu was rather limited and there weren’t a lot of items that appealed to me. I also didn’t like their rice - very bland and dry. Frankly, I prefer Salsa’s, but **FCD** doesn’t. Anyway, no cooking of cleaning, so there’s that. And the fried ice cream was yum!
Apparently our house is haunted by a cookie-eating ghost. That’s the only explanation for half of the batch I just baked being gone…

It’s rainy but the roads were just wet. It’s supposed to stay above freezing overnight and warm a bit tomorrow. Then maybe rain/snow on Saturday. My goofball sister leaves tomorrow with Mom on a Caribbean cruise. They go just about every year, mostly to the same places. I feel like the one cruise I took there was quite enough for me, but each to his own, right?
Anyway, early supper followed by recliner time!
