Finally got my battery, turns out UPS left it with the next company over in my building. Now it’s installed in my power supply, plus I took the opportunity to adjust the whole entertainment system. Deleted the CD player (haven’t played a CD in years) did some cord management, it looks a bit less like a spaghetti mess back there now, and swept under it. Short cables are your friend, I don’t need 6’ when I’m going 1’. **cookie** Cranberry sauce should be a fairly hands off and quick process, unless your wife does odd things to the sauce. I mean, it’s dump berries, water, sugar , and whatever spices, orange slice, etc in and let it simmer for a half an hour or so. I do a cinnamon stick and a sachet of mulling spices. **metal mouse** Hope the rest of your journey goes smoothly. As I knock loudly on desk. ---

I just finished chopping up leaves with the mower. Now I’m heading to WalMart to pick up some Diet Coke that I ordered, since they have it lots cheaper than Food Lion. We topped off my brake fluid (it was low, but not below the MIN line) and I’m hoping that takes care of the light coming on periodically. Off to the craziness that is Wally World! Well, their pick-up area anyway. ---

Thursday we consumed the annual turkey sacrifice. I had a turkey and provolone sandwich for breakfast yesterday, and we had turkey, stuffing, gravy, green bean casserole, and cranberry sauce for dinner. My breakfast this morning was a grilled turkey-and-cheddar sandwich. ---

Well, I negligently bought a frozen turkey too late for it to thaw by Thursday. Forbidden to thaw it any other way but in the refrigerator, I ruined Thanksgiving. Having, according to my parents at the time, ruined several Christmases as a child, I suppose this was only inevitable. However, I will redeem the opportunity by observing **Chicxulub Day**. For it was on November 26, 66,000,385 BCE, that dinosaurs ceased to be the dominant animal life on earth, supplanted by the mammals. We celebrate this by eating their descendants. ---

Don’t try to be reasonable with me, dammit! Got the fake pencil tree out of storage (we’re not allowed real ones here) and a box of ornaments. Located the Christmas DVDs. Bought a jug of eggnog and broke out the cognac, so things are looking rosier. ---

Then an early bedtime, since I’m still not quite adjusted back to my own time zone. Today we’re planning on a late lunch/early dinner down at the Village, and not much else. Still not 100% certain, but right now it looks like I’m not going back to South Carolina, and I’ll have two full weeks off before Arizona. Sounds good to me. ---

Actually “we” didn’t promise, one of us promised and forgot to tell the other one in time for her to put a side dish together. We’ll pick up a fruit tray when we get into town. Hubs thinks we will be home tonight, but I think he will have one too many beers with his buddies so I’ve reserved a motel room and will give the cats their dinner before we leave and tell them to wait until 5 because that’s the only dinner they will get. I’m positive they will pay close attention. ---

There is a legit public health (and manufacturer liability) issue that arises because there are millions of people in the USA who only actually cook a couple times a year, and one of those times is Thanksgiving. Those folks are dangerously clueless and only the safest and most stringent of precautions can protect people from horror stories and protect manufacturers from an flux of lawsuits & emergency rooms from an influx of patients. Those same clueless folks probably don’t read all those over-the-top precautions, but more sensible folks do. And fall for them. ---

It was a long wait at Wal-Mart but I had my tablet and I finished reading the stoopit book to its convoluted and unbelievably tidy ending. I acknowledge these cheesy books I’ve been reading are not literary treasures, but this one was embarrassing. And I’m still not sure I entirely understood it - maybe it wasn’t convoluted and I just missed something. Nah! Anyway, waiting for **FCD** to get home, sharingmy recliner with Higgs. Chillage. ---

Home. Posting this from my home computer on a keyboard that my fingers work on. Heat has been increased and water is back on. Still have to unpack but right now I’m one tired mouse and slothing will be in my near future, if not nappage. Did manage to get into my house (turned out it was a good idea to leave that one back window that I just barely fit into open) and all seems well/ Promise that next week I’ll be back to my old self (such as it is) and following the MMP much more closely. We had a huge family gathering at my sister and BIL’s house today. Lots of food, talk, memories and card playing. Small groups left at different times and it turns out the leftovers I packed ended up getting handed to someone else. I got some baklava and the leftover sauerbraten I’d cooked. But as my mother used to say if that’s the worse thing that ever happens to me I’m lucky… I got to visit with new relations and some others I hadn’t seen in quite a while. Towards the end it started snowing, so some of us left sooner than planned on. ---
