Short of visiting the Library of Congress, where can I find texts online that contain demographic information from decades ago? Say, I wanted to look up the population of Nazi Germany as reported in 1936, or the GNP of Manchukuo in 1938, or the literacy of the Tuvan Republic in 1940?

Are there any resources akin to this online?
