That’s been a thing since forever and I’ve never gotten it. Back when I dressed to catch the male eye, I would have gotten my feelings hurt if nobody looked! (I really liked it best he would look and she would glare, hehehe.)

It’s odd how much I dislike someone I’ve never met and really don’t even know her name.

What a lovely surprise! Daffodils didn’t do well in AZ, but this spring EVERYONE but me has them all over their yards and lining their fences. I bought a couple of pots of them on sale so this fall I will have my own bulbs to plant along the edge of our front gardens.

Gardening somewhere where the magical sky water falls more than a couple of times a year is amazing!

> As I told GF, had I ever dated either of them, the second time they sent food back over a trifle I’d have walked out, never to return.

How my dates treated the waitstaff on the first date would make a big difference in my willingness to floozy with them or even a second date. I always assumed that people who would be mean to “servants” would be selfish in bed and a slob in the living room. I might have been a floozy, but I had standards!

I’ve never sent food back myself. Mom always raised us to eat what we were given and to be grateful that someone else was cooking and cleaning. It does help that I’m not really a picky eater and I know how to read menus and ask the waitperson if I have questions.

Dang, I hope he didn’t hurt himself.

FCD is an engineer, he fixes things. That’s what he’s done all of his life, but when his parents got old and started failing, he couldn’t fix that and now he feels guilty. You can’t reason him out of this, he emotioned himself into it and needs someone better trained than you to help him look at why he’s blaming himself needlessly.

IMHO that is, I could be full of what makes the grass grow.

We had our crawl space fully sealed off and insulated with moisture barriers and all. It’s been less than a week and we can feel the difference. The floors aren’t as cold as they were and our furnace isn’t working nearly as hard.

Are your knees doing better now that you’ve lost so much weight? My hip would probably be much happier if I lost some of my extra poundage as well.

Are you being reimbursed for using your personal equipment for work? Mission creep is happening and you shouldn’t be paying for it.

>
> Thank goodness I froze my Visa - someone tried to charge $147 worth of crap. So whoever found it thought they scored.

That just sucks, I’m glad you froze it as well.

So, my day started with fasting blood work and my doctor’s office was under new management and everything was a mess. Nobody knew how to do the things on their computers and every patient had to be re-registered as they came in. I had four minutes left before I was going to ask for my lab orders to go when I was called back.

The intake nurse is also their vampire so usually blood draws get taken right back because she is so fast, waiting for almost an hour wasn’t acceptable. I’m hoping I won’t have to find another doctor, I like this one but not enough to wait that long on a regular basis.

After that ordeal, I had my coffee YES and turned civilized so Hubs and I went to Lowes for garden dirt and landscaping bark. While I was there, I saw a woman looking at the ($24.99)ferns and quietly went over and told her where to go to to buy nicer ones for 15 bucks and she listened to me!

When she came in the store, she said she’d never visited because it looks like nothing from outside. She bought four ferns, some tomatoes, onions and a big bag of raw peanuts for the squirrels.

I hope she goes home and tells all of her friends!

I also talked to a couple more ladies who did crafty things and learned that the library has a meeting room that folks can use with no charge. Of course, that would mean no wine ☹

While I was at work, Hubs put one of our front planting areas together. It looks very nice, but so stark and bare.

[![Imgur](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54459062758_5f8e5ede4b_b.jpg "planter 041725") ](https://www.flickr.com/photos/191587192@N04/54459062758/in/dateposted-public/)

That won’t last, things here grow so fast!

So lettuce in the pot on the right, onions along side the Marygolds with room for a tomato plant on each end, the left pot will be radishes. I’ve got some catnip started in a couple of pots, I know better than to plant it in the ground. It took over our yards in AZ, it would probably be worse than kudzu if I let it go here.

I’ll be putting pots of posies around the bigger planters, I’m still figuring that out.

I am, currently, alive. Started the morning with a big breakfast because I knew i’d have to front-load my calories.

Called at 8:15 for rehearsal. Started pre-mass music at 9:30. Mass ended at about 11:45. Fought through traffic to get to school and taught from 12:30 to 4:30. Enjoying my first break in eight hours now. Dinner and a few administrative things, then back into the fray. 6:15 call, followed by two more services tonight.

I almost never use the printer. I’ve probably used the printer at the office for personal stuff more than I’ve used the Wife’s.

There _is_ one thing though. The household printer is, as I said, too blurry for contracts. I either have to wait to go to the office – which is only once a month now – or go to UPS for printing. Since Mi Esposa’s printer/scanner can only make single-page .pdf files, I either have to send the pages to myself and paste the images into a Word document (which is kinda kludgy) or have UPS scan them. I can and should submit an expense report. When I was on salary, I didn’t bother. Now that I’m hourly, I’ll have to start doing that.

In my public library you can drink wine in their community meeting rooms. Also, who’s to say what is in those Stanley thermos cups? Hmmmmm……?

Since you’re in the Bible Belt you might need to plaster a sweet and innocent bunch of stickers on those ‘coffee’ mugs.

Thank you, that makes my cold heart feel better, knowing I have y’all on my side.

And, is that a horse trough from like, Tractor Supply as a raised bed? Brilliant!!

As for the work thing, I’m on until the end of June for sure. We find out if grants go through during June, if they do, I’m set. However, in the meantime, I’m in a shady area with regards to the union and “am I a member of it yet”. I believe I have completed the provisional period, but with the position being re-defined, no one seems to know.

Thanks all about congratulations on new house everyone. It’s great. It’s amazing. We are keeping two homes for a bit and I’m trying to keep them both going. Which of course means - tools.

I bought a work desk yesterday and I swear it had 70 screws to put it together. Um… I don’t have my drill/screw gun. It’s at the other house (that we must sell). Well, now I have two 1/2 inch hammer drills. Ok.

We now have… four chess boards. One at mountain house, one down from elevation at new house. One is a travel job, and one that we can just leave outside. Yes, we play a lot of chess. Almost always 3 games a night.

We are slowly learning new restaurants and our way around.

My eye is much better today, like 80%, so I’m very relieved, also grateful for all the crossed fingers and good wishes. I had a hair appointment this morning, and then walked errands, one of which was to go to the dollar store to load up on sunglasses. I figure when the tariffs hit, the dollar stores won’t be carrying sunglasses any more, and I’m very dependent on those shades. I wear them even when it’s cloudy, as well as in brightly lit rooms.

My brother called when I got home, as he was worried about my peepers. Old Flame is calling this evening.

A friend of mine in New England always complains about a woman in her friend group who sends food back to the kitchen every time they go out so that she gets her meal comped. Like **pilot** , I have no patience with that sort of thing. It doesn’t say anything good about a person’s character to pull stunts like that. Like **BooFae** , I’ve never done it. I’m not that fussy, plus I hate being a bother.

This is when I miss my students. I could always rely on them to say things like, “Ms. \_\_, you have a smudge on your left shoe.” My favorite was the time a girl told me the back of an earring was about to fall off. How could she SEE the back of my earring? It’s not like I’m Dumbo or anything.

That’s a good point, but in my case the print was “100% cotton/ Made in Vietnam/Machine wash cold” and was on the front. Yes, I achieved the rare double-screwup, the goal of ditzes everywhere: backwards AND inside-out. My only solace is that I didn’t wear my bra over the shirt.

**JtC** - you’re exactly right about the engineer side of **FCD** overshadowing his acceptance of his parents’ deaths. He refuses to go for any kind of counseling and I don’t know what to do. Have I ever mentioned that he’s a tad stubborn?

We’ve packed out everything we could from our room and Daughter packed their dirties. So I could only take 2 bags to the car. She’s going to pack what she can once the kids are done in the pool. We’ll have one bag tomorrow, who knows what she’ll have…

One last night, then one long day on the road. Can’t wait. And yes, I’d like some cheese with that whine. 😉

Aw, you’d _love_ it in my area right now. There are daffys everywhere, in seemingly random places where I doubt anyone does any gardening, like by the side of the highway near abandoned buildings.

* * *

Burned my lunch break running to Petco for crickets & worms for my dragon buddy, as he’s clearly hungry.
The worms were half off. Did you know live worms can be sold on clearance for quick sale?

Got home from work in time to let Monkey out for a bit before twilight.

I have a headache (slept very badly) and wouldn’t mind just going straight to bed, but I want to make one last foray back out … overheard someone discussing Easter plans and realized I have been completely remiss in obtaining one of those tiny (what, 1/4 sized?) spiral hams!

So imma head back out - and wanted to maximize Monkey’s outside time, he SO wanted to go out earlier but we didn’t have time - and see if there’s any oink left. I hope they’re not totally out!

I pulled out two ribs for my dinner, and removed the rib bones. Fortunately The Spousal Unit helped me eat the meat, as it really was too much. We both had coleslaw, and she put raisins in hers.

When I was at the supermarket I picked a package of beef ribs from the BIBIR bin. Three or four ribs. They were seasoned with ‘Saint Louis BBQ Rub’. I put them into the deep freezer for another date.

Speaking of beef, I got this out of the BIBIR bin several days ago for the next time I make a small pot of chili. (It’s in the freezer.) I’m a little confused about the label.

And a good evening all. My HVAC is good but I’m going to spend some money increasing my insulation in the attic, it probably won’t reduce my bill enough to matter much but it’s an improvement that has been recommended to me by others earlier so it’ll get done this month. Don’t know if the Tru-Green guy came by while I was at the gym or soccer practice, will have to see if there is a note on the door or not. Practice went pretty well, 8 out of 11 boys made it and the weather was perfect in the evening. Home to grilled Ham-n-Cheesers with some Ritz Crackers as a side. Am now in for the night for internettin’ and readin’.

**Metal mouse** Culver’s was out of walleye so I had a single Butterburger and coleslaw. The CT took 10 minutes. Results tomorrow.

Keep up that schedule and you won’t survive to retire! Oh my goodness, all I did today was plant a couple of posies and make dinner and I’m totally worn out!

There is no way I’d be going back out after dinner, I didn’t like doing that when I was working a real job and now that I’m used to not rushing, there aren’t many reasons to leave the property after dinner.

It’s a real shame that they did this to you, you used to be so positive about your job and now you sound like me during my last decade of government work.

So, “I drink wine because murder is illegal” would probably not be good?

It is kinda odd here, some folks are super religious (his family included, which isn’t surprising considering all of the preachers in his background) but my Miskatonic University sticker on my back window has been recognized and laughed at by several folks wearing religious t-shirts and my Cthulhu hat and label pins have also been recognized and commented on - always in a favorable and jovial fashion.

Your life would have been so much different and you would have been close to retirement if not retired by now had she not fucked you over like she did. That’s kinda hard to forgive.

I’m really hoping things will be more settled soon and that you and @Taters jobs will be more secure soon.

Oh yeah, that’s one of my favorites!

You do know how to make a floozy feel seen! Strutting would have commenced 🙂

We moved states a year ago and this part is both fun and frustrating for us. Thank goodness for GPS, it helps so much.

The front was hanging out and down. That meant the back had almost slid off and she cared enough to warn you.

I adore you!!!

I really do wish I knew some helpful words, but I don’t. Hubs spent his life repairing radars as an active duty Marine or doing auto body work when he got out. He still hasn’t come to terms with being an adult orphan. Sigh.

Drive carefully and enjoy your recliner and bed when you get home!

My coworkers used to tease me about burning my lunch break to buy kittah supplies.

How often do dragons need to eat? How do you know it is hungry. Do you know what gender it is? How often do they poop and is it horrible to clean up?

No wonder the EU doesn’t want to buy our food, we don’t even know what it is now that the USDA has stopped inspecting it.

Ours are not nearly that polite about it. They want their breakfast on time and then they want us up because they want to sit in other rooms and need us available for scritches and admiration.

Hubs is trying to find somewhere to buy worms for my raised bed. He’s looking for places to buy bait worms (Red Wigglers) but **shoe** helpfully reminded me that we could buy worms at pet stores.

Along with shredded carrots. I’ve had it with dried cranberries once which I thought was pretty great so I ate Hub’s as well. He didn’t like it because he also likes routine in his food.

> it probably won’t reduce my bill enough to matter much but it’s an improvement that has been recommended to me by others earlier so it’ll get done this month.

When we bought this place our home inspector looked at our insulation and recommended we ask for money off the selling price to allow us to improve it. So, saying that to say that if you are going to be selling in the next decade, best do it now cause things aren’t going to get cheaper anytime soon.

I always like to support local businesses even if it does sometimes cost a little more. It often doesn’t but people won’t know that unless they get told.

I only went into the produce store last year because I always look for local options and look at me now: I have the store’s float in my desk drawer and a huge credit to spend on stock.

We finally hashed that out tonight. Boss is in Prescott and had time to have a conversation instead of texting. For the record, she hasn’t left me with the keys unsupervised. Her dad lives right down the street and comes in often and everyone has smart phones nowadays. The cash register sends a daily report to her phone so she does know what is going on behind her back.

She’s happy enough with all of that that she wants to take another week to drive home because she wants to see the Grand Canyon. That means I’ll be working at least 14 days which means I’ll be able to keep Hubs in eggs for at least a month! Kewl!!!
