Where in Maine am I from. Not a simple answer. Moved there when I was a kid (7 year old) to the very northern tip of the state. I too went to UMO for two semesters (Fall '83 - Spring '84) - and then the rest of my college career was within the UMaine system, but way up north again in Fort Kent. Once I got sick of college I move down state and spent the better part of 30 years knocking around - Scarborough, Westbrook, Portland, South Portland, Brunswick. I did spend about two years in California around the turn of the century, but the rest of the time before I move out here was in and around southern Maine. ---

This place is a bit off the beaten path, hence the lowish price. So probalby eating here; it’s not an inclusive, but prices are OK by Cayman standards. Intending an early night for a long day tomorrow. And calisthenics. I did my morning set today predayn and it hurt so good. Unlike Sint Maarten, today the customs / immigration / taxi to hotel process was super easy / efficient and I was checking onto the hotel 45 minutes after they parked the jet… The Caucasian taxi driver claims to be 11th generation Caymanian, tracing his family ancestry to the original European settlers in 16xx when this was uninhabited dirt. In all the hotel is a quiet place to chill; not a nightlife explosion. Big sign at the open-air bar/eatery: “You are now entering a stress-free zone”. While accurate, they also misspelled “excitement”. I could chase that excitement cross-island, but not feelin’ it tonight. Slept for shit last night and want to make up tonight. Tomorrow will be different. Besides, come Friday I’m back on the excitement overload adrenaline-fueled Virgin cruise experience with a new set of single friends. ---

Went to the dr. She said the sudden hair loss could be stress or malnutrition but that is not the case. It will take forever to grow back. It was thick and now its flat and stringy and I dont know how to fix it. Doctor gave me a note I texted to my boss as to why I couldn’t make it today. Eating my salad, haz the cake in da oven, got some library books. ---

Thanks **BBBoo**. Mom may not have the words for what she means. Despite years of prep, knowing from a tender age that every life ends this way, it can still be an insuperable burden to verbalize what’s at top of mind for the impending decedent. And likewise for their caregivers / loving ones. Push through that barrier. Future you will thank you for that, and so will future MIL for the brief values of “future” available to her. ---

We have a mandatory ‘staff retreat’ tomorrow. I hate those, especially the motivational speaking part. (She’s nice, but I don’t like glurge/feel-good mumbo jumbo.) The good news is that it’s at 13 Coins, which I hear is very good. We can order lunch off of the menu, so I’m eying the Cobb salad. SWMBO wants me to bring back pineapple-crumb crust cheesecake with raspberry syrup. ---

Hah, so we probably almost crossed paths in southern Maine, you were a couple years before me at UMO. Zoots dance club in Portland ring any bells? And I also did a couple years in Cali (San Diego) a little before the turn of the century. I think I left there in 98? And a good afternoon/evening to all. Swimming has been swum and the state of Ali-bama has been mailed my tax paperwork, so those have been my top accomplishments of the day. Nearly made it to 70F and my heating bill and I are giving thanks for that. Same thing tomorrow but with rain in store in the evening hours. **wet one** , enjoy your sloth. **FCM** , I can imagine the next few weeks won’t be a lot of fun, but hopefully when the time comes it will be peaceful and quick. **Pilot** , have a good trip. Enjoy the stress-free lifestyle. **J-Bats** , you tried your best to do a good thing, but sometimes you…just have to do your best. We humans are a strange bunch. **Flyboy** , your neighbor makes my water issues seem minor. Hope his insurance comes through promptly. **Cookie** , you’d be less than human if you didn’t have a heavy heart. Hopefully it also brought along some good remembrances of times past too. OK, time to fix some dinner and get down to the evening’s internettin’. ---

“Lunch” smoke break. Chill day so far. We have a brand-new guy today, an older, quieter guy. Used to work at Little Caesar so he’ll probably do O.K. as long as he keeps showing up. **Oven Master** forgot his earbuds, is bored, and in a _mood_ so we may have some in-house entertainment tonight. I read (here?) that there are fires in Canada, which would explain the recent spectacular sunsets. But tonight is muffled, muted pastels. Timer’s about to go off. Back to it, just gotta slip my shoes back on. ---

Hey ya’ll! We were busier than expected today, I went to surplus produce this morning and received a BIG bag of coleslaw mix. We eat shredded cabbage at times, but no way could we use all of the bag before it went bad, so I took it to Chicken Guy. We also got ground turkey, red and yellow apples, yellow grapefruits, oranges, bread, a container of vegetable stock and a box of nacho lunchables. I gave CG some apples and oranges, he’s on statins and can’t have grapefruit either. I will bring the box with me to Tai Chi tomorrow and NF will take what she wants before I put the rest of the food on the food shelf. It has been 11 days since hubs’ computer flamed out and while my tower is adequate for my needs, it doesn’t have enough umpf for hubs and he really wants his comp back. The warranty place still hasn’t shipped his box and label, so hubs found an authorized repair place in the valley and we headed down the mountain. I think I’ll always get a sad moment when I see where the mountain by Sunset Point was, but you can’t stop progress. The desert was greening up and I started seeing wildflowers on the outskirts of Phoenix. The bougainvillea is blooming and the trees are starting to leaf out. Like it or not, spring is here. After we dropped his tower off at the shop, we went to the seafood buffet for lunch and as usual at a buffet we both wanted to taste everything so we overate one small spoonful at a time. ---

Aisle 4, left side, halfway back, down low. Trust me. You can salve your puncture wounds just fine with a whole bag of tootsie pops or lemon suckers or whatever your favorite thing is. ---

We watched a _Harry Potter_ movie yesterday. In one scene, Hermione obliviates her parents’ memory of her and deletes all of her photographs. But… What about everyone else? I’m sure a lot of people know she exists. ‘Where’s Hermione?’ ‘Who?’ ‘Your daughter.’ ‘We’re childless.’ ‘You’re not! What have you done with her body?’ Baked salmon with rosemary and lemon slices for dinner tonight, with asparagus. I frickin’ love salmon and asparagus. ---

Howdy Y’all! Been home from the Lent thang over to the church house for a little over an hour. Needed some Netflix and chill first thing. It was a good group tonight and a lively discussion which kept pretty much on track. Some delicious taco soup, bread, brownies, and blood oranges were also enjoyed. If they are anything like tonight, the next four weekly discussions should be fun. **MOOOOOOM** this is a tough thing to go through, but you already know that. I know FCD and you will do everything you can to make MIL comfy. I too will chime in on the notion of gettin’ hospice involved. Hospice would be a great resource for her and for all the family. My family got hospice involved with my mom and while it didn’t make it any easier, things went a lot smoother **J-Bats** rest assured you did everything you could for Tony.
