I’m a male, 52, and my longtime girlfriend is 51. I once shared with her the fact that a woman has to be within 10 years of my age for me to be “attracted” to her. Younger women are of course nice to look at, but when they’re young enough to be my daughter, there’s no attraction. She replied, "Well, then we have a problem - _I am only 29!"_ ---

While I’m sure I’ve received my share of derision from people, I can’t imagine what it’d be like if I were female. Or had an older female lover. Actually, it seems there is one heck of social stigma against large age differences in either direction in straight relationships - old men “taking advantage” of younger women, and the cougar and boy-toy phenomenon. ---

I’m 54 and find plenty of young women attractive, once they have substantially acquired the secondary sex characteristics. This has waned somewhat as they also have started appearing somewhat childlike too. It is hard to attach an age because people are so varied. I thought the character Baby was too young to be sexy in Dirty Dancing, but actress Jennifer Grey played her at age 27. But speaking of babies, I thought Brooke Shields was very sexy in Pretty Baby, at the age of 12. I think I was SUPPOSED to find her sexy. But I also think I was creepy. And speaking of creepy, I think the publicity stills of Jonbenet Ramsey combined a successful “Hey, Sailor” come-on look with the cranial structure of a child little past the toddler stage. I think they were supposed to, too. For me this perfectly captures the unsavory loathing I feel for child modeling, or whatever they call it. ---

18 is kind of on the line because it’s possible to still be in high school at that age, and _that_ feels wronger than the age itself. I’m not really bothered at all if I am attracted to 19-year-olds. 1/2 my age + 7 is 19, so I guess that makes sense. For just having casual conversations with teenagers, even kids under 18, I don’t always find it different from talking to people my own age. Totally depends on the person. ---
