A couple of the osrters were later to the 300 Table, and Shaggy was there, so I had to do that for a while, then work down the Slide. A lot of out of center packages than usual, so I assume Twilight was having a day last night. We also kept getting a lot of stuff for the 400 Belt. I don’t know if there was a belt problem, or somebody in the Sort Aisle needs to watch the Count from Sesame Street like Alex in _A Clockwork Orange_. When I got out at 10:20, it was already 90 degrees Ferret Height(32.2 Centipedes). I gassed up Carmen, now I’m home and showered, and Spot in I shall take a lengthy siesta. i live by: slop! slip! slap! if slop is unacceptable is slip acceptable? i usually wear a jacket or hoodie for slip. i also have oversized linen shirts that i use for slip if i will be outside mostly. glad he is getting is remembering the slap part. we are under the usual late afternoon/night scattered thunderstorm watch. they are starting to form in the west. the humidity is 79% and the dew point is 75. looking at a heat wave starting this weekend. just in time for the solstice. ---

Good morning. It’s 64°F, the sun is peeking through the clouds, and it just got done raining. We’re expected to have sporadic light rainfall over the next couple of hours, followed by cloudy to partly cloudy skies with occasional sunshine, and a high temperature of 69°F. It’s a mixed bag, to some extent. **Sticky** , I’m glad that Annie doesn’t have Cushing’s, and I hope you all get to the bottom of her affliction. I’m sorry about the interview as well. Let’s hope the third is the charm. **Aspen** , yeah, vet bills are ridiculously expensive. I have to gulp every time I go in. And, for me, almost every vet visit is twice as much due to having two dogs. **Nellie** , your dog friends are being silly. You’re wise to stay out of it. I cannot speak to cruises. I’ve never been on one, and I don’t plan to go ever. To each his or her own. I didn’t grow up with AC, and honestly, don’t even remember having a fan in the house. I spent most of my growing-up years right here in Western Washington. I don’t have AC in this house, either. I have a window unit for the bedroom, and I turn on the overhead fan downstairs. Some days become very uncomfortable, to be sure. **Lily** , I hope the roofing company does the right thing. I treated myself to a nice pedicure yesterday. After that, I went to Costco thinking I’d save money and the convenience tax by going in person. Hah! What a mistake, and I should have known better. I spent far too much money, but what’s done is done. When I order delivery, I rarely go over 100 to 150 bucks. Let’s just say I spent four to five times as much. Jeebus. I’ll stick to delivery. I don’t have much on the agenda for today. However, tomorrow will be the first of the watering trips to my work friend’s home. I’m supposed to go every other day to water and check for leaks in their bathrooms. She told me I didn’t need to go if it rained, but the hanging baskets will still need water, so I’ll go. It’s not that big a deal. I’ll head over around eight in the morning so it’s done and out of my way. Okay, the doggos want to play, and Buster is doing his “woe is me” moaning, so it’s time to go. _Started Typing: 12:44 PM ET Clicked Reply: 1:59 PM ET_ My already-tenuous grasp on what day of the week it is has been upended by this week’s weird schedule: working from home and our DC office on Monday, off yesterday, and working from home today. Combined with having Wegman’s delivered earlier, I keep thinking it’s Thursday! Tomorrow I’ll be in the office when I’d usually work from home, so it’ll probably feel like Wednesday. Heh. I went to bed pretty much right after I posted last night, and fell asleep almost immediately…and, thankfully, Bailey did _not_ feel the need for a middle-of-the-night barking session (good dog!). My alarm was set for 7:30am, but I woke up at 6:30am (after about 8 hours) needing to pee. I went right back to bed, and dozed on and off for ~40 minutes before getting up for good. So far I’m not too tired, but I fully expect to hit a wall around 3-4pm. Assuming I sleep well enough tonight, though, I’ll be back to “normal” tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, it’s a federal holiday (Juneteenth). It isn’t a company holiday, but I’ll enjoy the lighter traffic and not hearing from my customers. 😁 There are three federal holidays every year that aren’t company holidays: Presidents Day, Juneteenth, and Columbus Day. People are allowed to take those days off, but would need to use their leave – though we do get 16 hours of “personal holiday” time each year to help offset two of those holidays (the hours can be used any time; the only difference between them and leave is that they don’t roll over). Nah, I’m in Northern Virginia; just west of D.C. (10 miles from the White House). For once, the Weather Channel was dead on: it got super dark _right_ after I posted, the rain started a minute or two later, and I heard the first thunder rumble at 2:08pm. Yay! ---

I’ve been on cruises with only a hundred, and useually under 2000. I’m not interested in the bigger ships, either. Roof guy says he’ll make it right but that the HVAC line wasn’t installed to code. Now we’ll talk to the HVAC guy again. We are fortunate to be able to make the repair ourselves, though it will make for a tight several months. I’m glad for horses, cats, and dogs whose health is improving or not turning out to be on the scarier diagnostic end. ---

Howdy all. Have read all of the day’s tidings but being restricted to my cell phone makes it very hard (for me at least) to respond as I would like, so yea, boo, hugs, and cussin’ wherever it is needed. Got to near 80F today and I was out and walking for about 8-9 hours so a bit tired. Saw the Science Museum (nice but it was school group visiting day so pretty noisy), The Victoria and Albert Museum (nice but not my style), Parliament (actually got to go inside and sit in the gallery to watch for 20 minutes) and then Westminster Abbey (which is very ornate mostly filled with dead people). So all-in-all a good day. Also got to see the King’s Horse Guards perform a ‘go back to barracks’ ceremony which was pretty neat. Nearing 9:30pm now and still not dark outside, so bedtime will be a little later. On MSC cruises, first time with them so we’ll see how it goes. OK, take care and if I can get my laptop working maybe more of a conversation from me. Take care all. ---

Glad you’re enjoying London. This morning I had a personal training session after the trainer being on vacation for 6 weeks. She was up in Finland and said they got all 4 seasons, which is to be expected in May/June. We’re starting another heat wave, but with no rain in the forecast. I need to water the front, side, and back yards, which I find annoying. We usually get enough rain that I don’t have to worry about the north (front) side, as that rarely dries out. Bah. ---

I prefer the smaller ships - mostly we’ve been on ships with under 3000 passengers. Weather dot com showed historic temps of highs in the mid-50s and lows in the mid-40s for July. To me, that’s no biggie - early spring temps. He’s thinking about taking a heavy jacket. I’m taking a hoodie, some long sleeve pullovers and maybe a sweater. Layers, yanno. I think he’s forgotten that it was mostly in the 40s here all winter, and we didn’t freeze. The hobo bag I got at WalMart is going to work out great. It’s big enough to hold **FCD** ’s collapsible stool with space for a souvenir or two! And it’s got a wide strap, so it won’t cut into my shoulder. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s a cream color fabric, so it’ll show dirt easily. But it was only $20, so if it gets ruined, it’s no biggie. I had a tuna steak for supper. **FCD** had fruit salad. He’s dropped 25# so far! He had to buy some new jeans for the cruise. I’m hoping his blood chemistry will no longer show pre-diabetic - we’ll see after we get back. ---

Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions and got ‘em stowed away. Then we had some quality cee-mint pond time. We decided it was time to be inside in the a/c after a couple of hours cause of the humidity. Nappage and day drinkin’ happened along with the makeage and eatage of sup. Thus has been the day in swampland. ---

Got tags for the car today. Nelson even got a T-R-E-A-T from the nice lady at the drive up window (she even spelled it, so I have to assume she’s a dog mom). After that we dropped out some cards at the post office. He always gets excited when I pull up to the blue box, then backs off when he sees that there’s no one handing out treats. 😛 I got a box of pictures packed and most of the Cricut cartridges today. Sis went to two of the apartments on my list. One that I wasn’t expecting to be high on the list actually has me getting excited. ---

My complaints here over the last couple of years about our air conditioning probably have people rolling their eyes. For three years I’ve been complaining to management about the poor cooling provided by this system, and even though I’ve explained that the problem has to be with the unit and not the system, I’ve been ignored. Today, the newest maintenance guy was here to deal with the water leak I mentioned a few days ago, and I told him that the cooling is inadequate and that the air output vent temperature never gets below about 75F. He thought for a few minutes, checked a couple of things, then replaced a defective part. Cool air! It’s good to know that I was right, but frustrating that nobody would listen to me for three years. The contractor found the source of the water leak and they are replacing the piping starting in an apartment several floors up. They’ll hopefully finish tomorrow. On the plus side of all this, I came across a vacuum attachment I’ve been looking for the last couple of years while unloading the closet so the contractor could get in there. ---
