Nah, some of it’s bad news.
It sounds as if your local paper has gone the way ours has. Jeez, it has won Pulitzer’s in it’s day, not it doesn’t even have local columnists or accept letters to the editor. It’s not even printed here in town, so breaking local news is always first on television. I subscribed for thirty years, and gave it up about five years ago. It’s a total rag now.
