You are not incorrect.

The event won’t not happen, and having her ~~tattooed pizza schlep~~ lovely daughter on her arm will make her happy.

Maybe.

I did unleash my fashionista bestie, who’s slept in kevlar in tanks in war zones and currently handles White House reporting - and is absolutely not afraid of my mother - to find me the most ostentatious dresses.

She did not disappoint.

Her first text back: “Are you attending a Klan fest?”

After a few dress links, she said, “Oh, I missed OSTENTATIOUS.”

So this is my current favorite:

[https://www.nastygal.com/feather-trim-satin-swing-dress/BGG14302.html?\_gl=1\*h2kmjw\*\_up\*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwooq3BhB3EiwAYqYoElc1egZZl9fHlovhHMM6Vl\_Xd93uzvNGLhLrLVGx3itqqTjQ3ATX6hoCtI4QAvD\_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds](https://www.nastygal.com/feather-trim-satin-swing-dress/BGG14302.html?_gl=1*h2kmjw*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwooq3BhB3EiwAYqYoElc1egZZl9fHlovhHMM6Vl_Xd93uzvNGLhLrLVGx3itqqTjQ3ATX6hoCtI4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)

But I did want to wear something sleeveless or possibly strapless.

To cover up (can’t let people see that I have ink!) we have this absolute nonsense:

… and finally, for your viewing pleasure, my bestie is absolutely GUNNING for me to wear … this …

I mean, I could maybe pull it off? But no pockets, where would I ~~stash things~~ put my supplies?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 80 and light rain. We shall see. High RDOS inactivity is the order of the day as is our wont. We shall visit the little bar down the road for a burger and a beer for today’s main need to feed. Jeans, a tshirt, and sneakers will suffice for appropriate attire. Nuttin’ fancy 'bout that place.

**shoe** well, there is the [slutty prom/bride’s dress option.](https://www.nastygal.com/structured-bardot-puff-sleeve-mini-prom-dress/BGG14473.html?_gl=1*6juuw3*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwooq3BhB3EiwAYqYoElc1egZZl9fHlovhHMM6Vl_Xd93uzvNGLhLrLVGx3itqqTjQ3ATX6hoCtI4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)

**{{{CupCakes}}}** those kinds of anniversaries are always sad. We have a local dawg place called Jimmy’s that sells a very good, but very stinky chili/cheese/onion/slaw dawg. They must be eaten outdoors, that’s how stinky they are. I don’t even want the bag they come in in da cave, that’s how stinky they are. However, they taste soooooo good!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 14c/57f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “I often give zero fucks on days like today. Apparently fucking Mother Nature also gives zero fucks.” OK, it’s not that bad, there’s some cloud and some sun, and it’s delightfully cool out there.

It’s most likely because she doesn’t smell right, so now he knows there’s a familiar-looking cat in the house but it doesn’t smell like the cat he’s used to. That won’t last long, I’m sure she’ll be snuggling up with him soon enough.

> [@FairyChatMom](#):
>
> I’ve spent much of the evening trying to diplomatically tell MIL that neither my daughter, nor my granddaughter (???) could fit in or are even interested in her unneeded clothing.

Sometimes it’s easier to smile, say yes, accept it and know for sure you’ll just be keeping it safe until you thrift it later. Much less stress, makes her happy and it’s really no skin off your nose to shove a bag of clothes into a corner until you can rid yourself of it. If she believes it’s gone to your daughter’s house, she won’t even worry about not seeing any of them.

My sick day yesterday was very pleasant, I did very little apart from watching stuff on the TiVO and looking after the cats. I’m definitely coughing less today so that’s a good thing, and I am back in the office today.

I had to suffer a “return to work” interview with the boss which involved a short form, really she could just have emailed it to me but she likes to think she’s doing things properly. 'Twas a monumental waste of time, but we did talk about some other stuff so what should have been a 10-minute conversation became almost an hour. Then I had an hour-long meeting with my new minion which was very productive.

Just the afternoon to go, and then a pleasant weekend to look forward to. I’m taking myself to the gym in the morning because I need the mental health boost. Then we have a friend coming down from Bolton and we’re off to a gig in the evening. That means yummy dinner at the fab Turkish place we went to last time she was here. Should be a good night, and I get to spend Sunday slothing to get over it.

I find this kind of stuff really interesting. I wish I could to the same with my family, but both sides came to the states in the early1900s, and records in Poland aren’t there or aren’t find-able. One of my cousins did go to the town (village?) where our grandfather came from, and despite the language barrier, she tracked down some shirt-tail cousins. But the best we can figure is that we’re of peasant stock. That’s probably the most we’ll ever know.

> [@purplehorseshoe](#):

> my bestie is absolutely GUNNING for me to wear … this

I love the jumpsuit! Surely you can find a white bag (or backpack) for carrying your stuff? Or a white hankie on a stick - yanno, retro hobo?

I’m not even gonna ask **swampy** how he found that slutty dress. I don’t want to know _that_ much about his off-board activities… 😮

The challenge of reading my dead-tree book continues. I still try to swipe to turn the page. I forget that I need my bedside light on to read. And I need to keep my tablet at hand to look up some things since I can’t just highlight the text and search, dammit. 😛

But believe it or not, some of the history I learned from my trashy novels is actually helpful putting some of this story in historical context. Of course, If I’d paid better attention in history class, I’d already know some of the stuff. Still, I’m enjoying the book, even tho I read it 50+ years ago and have totally forgotten all of it.

Today is laundry day. Tomorrow, I’m meeting Daughter and her brood at the purple playground (Roxy named all the playgrounds according to the predominant color of the equipment.) This one is small in a small neighborhood, but it has a field where Trevor can cavort and chase balls and almost no one goes there, so they frequently have the place to themselves.

MIL went late into the evening sorting her clothes. She came in with a wool tam and scarf that FIL bought for her in Scotland a gazillion years ago, asking if Roxy might like them. I honestly have no idea, but I suspect not. **boofae** - your idea of packing and hiding stuff is a good one. We’ll see what she did last night - I was already in bed with my book, so I have no idea.

Not sure what the rest of the weekend holds, not that one needs plans when one is a RDOS. I’m sure I’ll find stuff to occupy my time.

Anyway, Happy Saturday!!

So, this is what happens…. I read everything when I don’t have a comfortable place to respond. Then, like now it’s the next morning, I’ve forgotten half of what I wanted to say!

I just wanted to pop in and say that yesterday was a good day. I went to my new job that I’m starting Monday and I am so excited! I’ll be working with a brand new teacher coming up with a master game plan for how the rest of the year will go. I finally found the place where I feel like I belong! It’s actually going to be more days a week to start than I expected which is also good, too.

Good Firday morning all. A fair chance of rain today and almost a guaranteed one for tonight and tomorrow so soccer will probably get rained out. Need to do the Firday Shopping run here in a bit, get me my Kroger 4x points, but nothing much. Only getting to 81F today and feels even cooler.

**Sticky Buns** , hooray for your new job and I hope it only gets better!

**Cupcakes** , I’ll try to remember that.

**Shoe** , not much for picking out dresses (I can just about make it to ‘smart casual’ for myself, but the jumpsuit with feathers ought to get you talked about…

**boofae** , so one boring meeting and one useful one–sounds about par. Glad you are feeling better.

**FCM** , hope your laundry day goes well, and the Purple Playground should be the place’s regular name, IMHO.

OK, need to break my fast and then do the shopping before sloth sets in. Take care all.

OMG - I know it’s Firday. Apparently my fingers don’t. Dammit.

Then again, for us RDOS, every day is like the day before, right?

I was talking to **FCD** this morning. After all the sorting and agonizing last night, MIL got rid of exactly 2 pairs of pants - both size 12. Did I mention she’s a size 6 Petite Short? But she’s sure she’ll gain enough weight to get into her size 10 pants again so she doesn’t want to get rid of them yet. Did I also mention that since April, her weight has mostly been in the 98-101 pound range? Oh, and not a single short sleeved shirt was removed from its hanger. She can’t bring herself to part with anything because she bought good stuff that cost a lot, even on sale…

BIL called me in a bit of a panic, afraid that the money he got from selling is car to Daughter had to be reported to the IRS. **FCD** is right - I’m becoming the surrogate.

So, how’s your day going? Firday, right?

What a delightful start to Firday morning. /sarcasm

I’ve had slow leak in one tire on the truck since like feb, I’d fill it every 2 weeks or so. Filled yesterday afternoon, this morning, completely flat, it had never gotten close to that before. So, bust out the tire changing tools, get the spare off its little crane thingy from under the bed of the truck. I can’t get the lug nuts off. I had to call AAA. Hour anna half later, spare is on.

Now I must get on a phone meeting.

So what started to be a reasonable day, went a tad south. there was a jam on the 100 feed belt near the 200 boxline, and that lead to an overload, which lead to the 100 Table going to 100%, and me having to help up there. Plus the stacked a bunch of bulk stuff in my work space for..reasons, and there was a 67 box bulk Next Day Air order that came down at the end. So ended my work week. And it is raining.

Yeesh.

I’m trying to dig out from under the First Of The Month Datalanche. I had a file open when I get an email from BMCRA. They told us years ago to send raw data, and they can handle anything we give them The email said they can’t handle the file we send for one data contributor. They told me that before, so I wrote a couple of programs to convert the two ‘report format’/‘open invoice format’ files into flat files. They said they don’t have the resources to process _those_ files.

I was about to respond to them when I got a call from a different member. She’s upset that she’s not receiving reports on clients from a different agency that’s supposed to alert them about such things as licensing issues with their customers. I had to talk on the phone (which I don’t like to do), and then compose an email to this other agency to find out WTH is happening. And my ‘favourite’ Account Executive, whom I copied, starts sending me emails. I took care of that, and then got back to BMCRA’s issue.

I basically told them that they have a lot more resources than I do, and to just write the program. Not specifically said, because I actually try to be nice sometimes: I’m already doing the hard part for them. If I can get so far just using Easytrieve, they should be able to do their job with Easytrieve (that they still have), COBOL, and whatever OO languages they use. I told La Jefa that I _could_ write programs to give them a combined, flat, file, but it would be a PITA and I don’t want to. She replied, ‘I agree. I think we are doing enough of their work.’

I’ll tell you, it’s almost feeling like it’s Friday the 13th or something!

She did and has a two 1\2 inch long incision on her three inch long belly because the vet wanted to dig around and be sure she found everything. The vet is not sure. She showed me a couple little bits of tissue and pointed ar things like she thought I could understand.

Bottom line: if Jolene goes into heat again, its specialist time because her very high progesterone levels are pointing at cancer. Vet says she looked at everything she could without cutting connective tissue and didn’t see anything, plus the things she couldn’t look at did’t appear swollen or misshaped so there is that.

Jolene has eaten and used the litter box, but mostly she is sleeping. GG is willing to be in the same room but no comforting has happened.

Shoe, I love that you are willing to do this for your Mom. I would do the same but would insist on white sneaks cause now way am I carrying all that stuff in heels.

Mom, I hope I am wrong but I think its very likely that you are going to end up with bil in you basement after his total breakdown when Mil passes. Good luck.

So we don’t have power today. The forest caught fire yesterday and a tree took out a power line. They don’t seem to get very excited about forest fires here, they let it burn until it got close to a house and then fire trucks surrounded the house and saved it.

The fire is still burning along the ridge. I know WV has no reason to have a fleet of slurry bombers, but there has been plenty of time to borrow one by now

There are over three thousand homes without power over a twenty mile area. We are hoping it will be back by dark.

We used our camp stove to make coffee, hooked the genny up to keep our food cold and went to Bob Evans for breakfast. It was pretty crowded so we didn’t feel alone in our suffering.

Just popping in for a quick update.

I have been in a lot of pain with my back (and carpal tunnel or wrist & arm neuropathy - who knows). It’s been difficult to sit and type. Went to the doctor on Wednesday and he prescribed prednisone which I have never taken before.

It’s been a bit of a wild roid ride for sure. I feel like an angry senior citizen with a metallic taste in my nose. A little better today but not liking this particular medication. It is helping with the symptoms though.

I think the exasperation/anxiety has simmered down a bit since I managed to resolve a vexing problem trying to link my social security account to [login.gov](http://login.gov). That one had me in a bureaucratic loop of indignation for 2 days.

Now maybe I can try to pack for an upcoming trip to Ireland on September 23rd.

Sadly, I’m already at my lease limit for pets, and DH would rather not own anything canine anyway. He’s friendly with neighbor dogs, just thinks they’re too high-maintenance as household members. I’m also probably not even in the right time zone for these ladies.
