as someone whose first movie was starwars (it was a reward for not killing my newly arrived baby brother ) this one stings ill have to be Darth Vader this year for Halloween as I was for most of my t’o’t days (the 2nd one that night was the original Halloween dad always wondered about the wisdom of not being more selective at the drive in ) I watched both sitting in my car seat at the top of the car …

You might have to find it on youtube but back in the late 80s a&e had a “night at the LA improv” show and he hosted it and his monologue was before people found out he did the voice hed have fun with it and he told this story about using it when he was driving a truck between gigs …you have to hear it

Mrs. L.A. had plain white rice for dinner. I looked in the freezer. I got out three Trader Joe’s chicken breast tenderloins, and a bag of Trader Joe’s [Spicy Mexican-Style Riced Cauliflower](https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/mexican-style-riced-cauliflower-069856). I have to give it to them. I could actually taste the ‘spicy’! 🌶 🙂 For the chicken, I put some aluminum foil in the toaster oven pan, sprayed it with PAM, but the frozen chicken on it, sprinkled it with Lawry’s Seasoned Salt, and baked it in the toaster oven at 350ºF for half an hour. There was some La Victoria mild green taco sauce in the fridge, so I used that up. I could taste it was past its best-by date, but it was good enough.

Evening all. Soccer has been coached (ten 8-year old boys can be exhausting, even if only for an hour). Then Wendy’s provided the evening repast which has been consumed and I am now in chill mode until bedtime beckons. Down to 76F now and heading to 60F so should be good sleeping weather.

**Oopsie** , happy staycation! I’ve never been called for jury duty in my 50+ years of eligibility, maybe one of these days…And I know I need to make plans for the just-in-case, will just get up one day and go ahead and do it.

**flyboy** , hope Spousal Unit enjoys her chair. Got a couple large packages from Amazon via USPS (small portable goals for soccer and 4 pairs of slacks) today, but neither in the 60lb class.

**FCM** , I will always remember James Earl Jones’ speech on baseball from _Field of Dreams_. He had a unique voice like no other and I will miss him too.

Whoa! Color me impressed. Does leave several possible Mumper names as possibilities; Submariner, Scuba, Piccard (one of the more noted crewmen of the Trieste).

**Cupcakes** , stick to your guns!

**Red** , sounds like the Peter Principle in actual fact.

**JtC** , hoping this fix takes. And I tend to mow as the whim takes me, varying between side-to-side, up-and-down, and diagonal. So far nobody has complained. And concur on the double-hung windows, that is what I have and much easier to manage.

**Sticky Buns** , hope the Drs. plan works out for the best, and glad you got the new chair, may it be all you wished for.

OK, after 8pm so need to finish my internettin’ and watch some tackleball while working on puzzles. Catch everyone on 2sDay.

My Amazon driver probably hates me right now. I had three large, heavy boxes today with cat litter and both canned and dry food (2x of each). Felt a need to make sure the kids are very well-stocked. Hope he’ll get over it. 🙂 OTOH, not my fault that six good-size items were shipped in three boxes instead of splitting up the weight.

On an unrelated note (I placed this order over the weekend), while erranding today (Buddy’s prescription refill, return a library video, minor groceries) I noticed that mask usage seems to be going back up.

**cupcake** sorry to hear about the runaround with the department store CC payment; what a PITA.

Question for you: first, the chocolate pudding recipe looks pretty good; I’d like to try it. My question is that both Hubs and our daughter are lactose intolerant; Hubs drinks lactose free milk and daughter drinks Oat Beverage (well, she calls it Oat Milk and that’s what it says on the container but as far as I’m concerned, milk comes from the mammaries of mammals and AFAIK oats are not mammals), so I was wondering if either lactose free milk or oat beverage could be substituted for milk?

Oh, I cook with carrots for the flavor and I will happily snack on them raw, but the texture of cooked carrots is just ick for me. Hubs always eats all of the cooked carrots I pick out and put to the side of my plate.

Oh, it is pretty obvious that there is bad blood over the property line and grass growth. You know those powder lines they put down on football fields? I saw one of those marking the line between their pretty big yards. Of course I’ve always looked every time I’ve gone by.

Three stories, wow. The stairs. I’m sure you have a super cute place, but all those stairs aren’t great for old farts with iffy balance. Start taking Tai Chi, that will help too.

> [@Kitten\_Mitten](#):
>
> (well, she calls it Oat Milk and that’s what it says on the container but as far as I’m concerned, milk comes from the mammaries of mammals and AFAIK oats are not mammals),

I call it nut juice, but I don’t have children. Yes, I know that oats are a grain but I classify it the same as almond milk.

Nut juice doesn’t react like cows milk. I’d think you would need to add thickening agents to get it to set properly.

I have made non-dairy cheese in the past for a pizza place. It didn’t really look like cheese, but it could be grated and it did melt. It took a lot of work and more chemicals than you would like to know about.

> [@LH75](#):
>

Fingers crossed that it is good news, but I agree that you are correct and you can’t even make an educated guess at this point. I’m glad the side effects aren’t that bad.

It’s too big. She has to think about it. (Personally, I would have measured the available space and checked the dimensions of the chair. But I’m not telling _her_ that!) It came from Macy’s so if she decides to exchange/return it, I _hope_ it goes smoothly.

Happy Moonday!

Chilly this morning, but it warmed up nicely.
I didn’t wake up until 1030, I suppose I needed sleep.
I’m saying I’m better, even though there is a bit of stuffiness and an occasional cough.

It was another mostly slothful day today.
I have a list of about 20 things to do and exactly three got done.
I have some bills due, but it gives me a headache to think about paying them. Even though the money is there to pay them and it’s only a few clicks on the computer to do so.

My poor dogs are bored out of their minds. We didn’t go to the park for a week while my son was sick. We went one day, and then didn’t go for another week because I was sick.
They had a little excitement today as it was nail trimming and ear cleaning day, but that is not the kind of excitement they like.

Good thing today? The weather was nice and sitting outside in the sun felt really good. I usually don’t like to sit in the sun, but it always makes me feel better after I’ve been sick. I’m sure it’s all in my head, but it feels like the warm sun dries up the sinuses and clears out the lungs.

**MetalMouse** , you really should have a Life Alert or something.
My friend in rehab (RF), after laying for 3 days before the EMTs rescued her, is probably never going home. It does a lot of damage to your body to be stuck on the floor with no food or water for a few days. And, TMI, it does the carpeting no good either.
You’re not 18 anymore, you’re not going to recover quickly.
Of course, I’ll never say anything to (RF). I found out through a mutual friend (D) that RF has not been telling the truth so much. I think she is living in denial.

{{{ **Sticky** }}}
If the knee injections you get as the same kind I get, they work great. I thought I was going to faint the first time I got one. The thought of a needle in the knee actually had me shaking. It’s uncomfortable, but not so bad, and I am a big wimp when it comes to pain. Very Big Wimp!

**Ooopsie** , I have had jury duty more times than I can count. Baltimore had One day/One trial, whichever was longest. I got it pretty much every other year. Boring. Very, very boring, unless you are picked. I never was. Most of the time, nobody was.

I remember reading a very long time ago, that a college education was very prized among recent immigrants. There was more prestige to having a child who was a school teacher making $25,000/year than a child who was making $40,000/year as a plumber. Kind of illogical, but the way it was. Image was important, and somebody who wore a suit and tie to work got more respect than somebody who wore jeans.
I can understand why so many people thought college was the better option. Sitting at a desk in the AC sounds a lot better than physical labor in the heat or cold.
I get it. I don’t agree with it, but I get it.

Thank you for the kind words!

I have been living on my first floor for the last several years because I can’t do the steps easily.

I have not been up to the attic since around 2014?
Ugh…

I’m seriously thinking of moving into an apartment. I have bad balance and a bad back. A really bad back. I am officially an old fart.

But I might still do at least some of the windows before I decide to sell.

I don’t eat cooked carrots. I do enjoy raw carrots, no problem with them. When they are cooked there is a numbing thing that happens. It concerns me enough that I don’t want to push it to see if it would get to anaphylactic.

Funny thing, one time I was home sick and had chicken noodle soup. Of course I picked out all the carrots bits and pieces. Stretch the super d duper had been diagnosed with thyroid troubles and had become a feeding frenzy shark. He was trying to climb into the bowl. I moved him away from me and showed him the carrots.

He ate them with a very funny expression.

I guess they smelled enough like chicken, but when he bit into them…they sure didn’t taste like chicken.

The picture I took still brings a smile.

Evening, everyone!! Started yet another class today. 's called Tech Reporting. I’ll confess, when I signed up for the class I thought it was gonna be about networking and stuff (y’know, because “tech”), but it’s a very gen-ed kind of class, being moreso about communicating in a professional environment. I mean hey, I’m not complaining, I like gen-ed courses since they give me a breather from working with computers all the time, plus writing is one of my strong suits! So an easy chill breather course, I certainly cannot complain about that.

We went through a long period where our govt was doing its best to encourage everyone to go to university, totally ignoring the fact that some people simply aren’t academically inclined. Vocational courses are just as valid, and necessary - no point having a top class degree in golf studies when you need a plumber!

One of my favourite lyrics is “Nothing needs worship to be”.

**Legend** Yay for specialists who are actually special!

> He was relatively well-behaved for a terrified cat - lots of howling, but no biting or scratching - and was immediately given some gooshy-fud upon home arrival to soothe his wounded soul.

That reminds me, I have a note in my calendar that Shadow is due for his vet visit. He goes every three months for a blood test to check his thyroid levels. As a reward, he gets a mani-pedi while he’s there 🙂

Yesterday’s semi-mandatory work event was boring and told me absolutely nothing of any significance. A friend messaged me afterwards and we agreed it was 2hrs of our lives we’ll never see again. Sadly, we have to go through this again on Thursday but it’s an all-day event of a different sort, but still one that will do very little for us. And it’s taking us out of the office for far too long in a period when we are extremely busy with stuff for next year.

Yesterday was, therefore, a bit of a wasted day. I did get some stuff done in the morning but it was not particularly productive. After irk, I went home and did feline tums and bums, washed up the food tubs I’d used during the day, set up my laptop ready for this morning, and then vegged on the sofa for a while as 'im indoors was making dinner.

I took a couple of tubs out of the freezer for tonight, it’s a spicy beef thing I made and had intended to maybe use for campus food but I think it’ll go well with rice so that will be tonight’s dinner. We have to go shopping today too, so that will happen after I log out for the day.

Last night I also emptied the bins and hauled the biiiiiig rubbish bin out for today’s collection. They’ve already been, it’s normal rubbish so they don’t even look in the bins for that. The dustcart had to reverse down the road as it’s still closed off to through-traffic so that was fun to watch. Now I need to get another cuppa, and I should go out and rescue the bin.

> I opened a credit card at a department store. I’ve only used it once and have had trouble. Got the bill, paid it by mail with a check.

This all seems curiously old-fashioned. My wife opened a new CC in a store last month to claim a big discount on something. She gave them her details but my email so I would get the usual spam.

When the bill arrived online, it took a few clicks to transfer the payment from our account to theirs. Later on, I was able to check their statement to be sure the transaction had gone through.

It’s unlikely to be used again, but we will keep the card (and I will keep deleting the junk mail) until it dies a natural death in a year or so,

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 82 and partly N.O.S. for the day. Absolutely Fall weather for these parts! Today is laundry day. I can hardly contain myself. Also, I will (no, really!) do the errands I did not do yestiddy, as the weather is nicer today. All that should get completed this mornin’ which will lead to a well-deserved afternoon of high RDOS inactivities. Sup shall be leftovers from last night’s sup.

I read all, but comprehension is not my friend this mornin’, so, yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies and how _you_ doin’s all around, as needed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I shall purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!
