You’re old when you don’t know how old you are. But, in the interests of this thread, and with the aid of calculators, calendars, pencil and paper, and to the detriment of the few brains cells that I have left, I calculate that I’m 58. I’m tired now. I’m going to have a lie down. ---

The Old Folks (sorry, **Icarus** ) at the Dope are greater in number than the poll suggests, which probably raises some issues about “average age” and all that sort of thing. If **NinetyWt** or anyone with better spreadsheet skills than mine wants to take the data and play with it, you have my blessings. ---

I neglected to say before that I haven’t been collecting the responses (posts details) from **Giles** ’s poll thread but I will be doing so soon. Bottom line, if you’ve posted to any one of the three threads dealing with the Over 50 issue then I will try to get all those names in one place. It’s totally up to those who haven’t responded to any of the threads which one (or none) they want to be counted in. And only those whose age is 50 or over or whose birth year is 1960 or earlier will be included in the summary data. My whole point to this thread is to try to get an accounting for the Dopers Over 50, purely to get as close as we can to an accurate number of such folks. A little recognition of the fact that we’re a good sized minority here – at least 20% of the active members. Thanks for asking. ---
