a cool rainy day in philly. this means people have lost their minds. traffic was crazy this morning. jtc, that is worrying. i hope they are able to help “hubs” easily. in honour of the autumnal equinox i am wearing my new corduroy jacket in a deep olivish green and autumn leaf socks. the leaves are starting to turn in phila. johnny la, i hope things go well with water and sewer. def. give it a go. it sounds like it may take a bit of time to get through the application process. you won’t be leaving your present job tomorrow. i am a very boring eater. at one place if they see me coming in they will place bets on what i will get. i have a few things that i regularly order. first day of bear voting! ---

Good morning! I slept through my walking alarm, and the bladder alarm got me up a half hour late to go walk. I climbed back in bed, knowing **Mrs Magill’s** alarm would go off in fifteen minutes. forty-five minutes later, we were both awakened to the sound of **Squeaky** quietly getting his phone off the charger. Someone had forgotten to turn on her alarm. I guess we both needed the sleep. I’m still amazed at how non-oily my skin is. I was about to quip about how much this would have helped during puberty, when my face could have been used for lunar lander training, but realized that wouldn’t be much of a joke. Now I’m thinking of years wasted, but I got to spend them with my favorite person and three great kids, so not wasted after all. Is this what they are talking about when they say that emotions are more accessible? Birth stories. Towards the end of **Spike’s** term - he only had a week to finish baking - **Mrs Magill** started itching furiously. We went to her last OB appointment before the scheduled c-section, and the OB ordered a blood draw. I went back to work and she headed to the Home Despot to pick up supplies for an irrigation project she had planned for the back yard during her maternity leave\[1\]. The OB called her and said she had Cholestasis, and she needed to report to the hospital right away for an emergency c-section. She then called me to ask my opinion as to whether she should finish her purchase, pick up **Fang** from day care, wait for her mother to drive over from Garner, and then go to the hospital. 🤦‍♀️ I told her to go straight to the hospital, and I would make arrangements for **Fang**. I could hear her eyes rolling over the phone, but she went to the hospital. I picked up **Fang** , dropped him off with our nextdoor neighbor, called both of our mothers, and met **Mrs Magill** at the hospital. **Spike** was born shortly after midnight, and we didn’t get a room for another two hours. I finally have a good weather report! It was 70F/21C(!!!) upon waking this morning, and as I have taken the day off work the kitties were able to enjoy two entire hours of open window time. That apparently was exhausting as they are both sacked out in the cat tree in the spare bedroom. It’s been a nice slothful morning but that is about to change. I’ve got a doctor appointment in a bit, some errands, and a backlog of laundry to work through today. A few quick notes before I gotta leave: **red** Yay for being home again! Hope you get good news from the dr today. **JtC** Likewise, I hope you and Hubs get good news from all the tests. **Flyboy** Another vote for applying to other jobs. It sounds like this one just doesn’t quite suit you and you gave it a good go. In your shoes, I wouldn’t stop at just applying for the government job. **Mollie** Good to hear you aren’t having any bad side effects from the new meds. They had me help unload the irreg trailer today in Door 27. Not horrible, apart from a some point there had been a blue toner spill. A large blue toner spill. It looked like Papa Smurf had smurfed himself with a 155mm howitzer shell, it was all over the place. I had to wash my hands for a couple of minutes before going to the bathroom, so I didn’t give myself blue balls. And as usual, J and I had the 300 Slide cleaned up, until the belts went off, then we got slammed. I did a quick stop at Aldi, for I forgot the three cheese tortellini for tomorrow’s dinner. It sprinkled a little bit, but no rain yet. Partly rowdy in MSP today and 60F. We’re supposed to see warmer weather in a few days. I thought the third time was the charm with my ongoing attempt to get a Chase credit card. Finally got the right credit bureau unfrozen and called to get the card approved. The woman said “I need to check with Equifax; can you hold?” I said yes and she promptly hung up on me. I hope they got the info they need, because I’m done screwing around with this. Looks like I need to do laundry this PM, as the underwear well is dry. TMI? ---

He’s still debating if he’s going to go to work tomorrow - walking to the train station might be a bit much. It’s about 4x the distance to the doctor’s office, and he said that was quite challenging. ---

Pellets to be delivered on Moanday, which means we have some garage chores to do before then. You’ll recall I cleaned the garage not too long ago. Well, as one might expect, stuff has multiplied to fill the cleared space. So we need to take care of that before Moanday. Rain continues, only 61 Ferrets, and we keep hearing stuff falling outside. So far nothing has fallen on any of our structures. That’s good. Supper will be veggie beef soup - I just pulled it out of the freezer. Beyond that, it’s been a lazy afternoon for me. Apart from throwing a toy for Otis to fetch. ---

Today was Day 2 of the long, boring meeting that _also_ started really early. Yaaaay. It ended about a half hour ago (at 5pm) and I’m finally done for the day; I’m staying in the office just long enough for this post, because I know I’ll be too tired later. 🙂 My birthday evening was uneventful, which was fine with me! I did some Lego-building when I finally got home (the long/boring/early meeting also ended late), and I did enjoy a few forkfuls of tuna-and-rice, but by 9:30pm I was beat; I didn’t even attempt the usual daily NY Times puzzles (Connections, Strands, and the Spelling Bee). I knew today’s alarm would go off early again, so I was in bed by 10pm and asleep shortly thereafter. Only about an hour earlier than I normally turn in, but it made me feel somewhat older than my (now) 55 years. 😁 Tonight will likely be a clone of last night: Lego and a little dinner when I get home, followed by maybe an hour of TV before I go to bed. I have one more early day tomorrow, then on Thursday I’ll get to sleep until a “normal” time (before I finish packing and hit the road to upstate NY). > [@swampbear](#): > > My 'rents were married on May 10th 1946. My big brother was a mysterious 6 month baby. Folks married in June, he was born in December. As predicted, too many meetings to get much done, but I did make some progress of the “body table”. It’s going to be a cartoonish thing with a whole bunch of artificial parts. Think open a door and see a shoulder replacement, or open a different door and see a heart being goosed by a pacemaker. And I think my Newton’s cradle golf hole is ready to get installed, just need a day with no visitor or rain. So, next summer? And I know I said I just took the ACs out of the windows, but it almost feels like I need to turn on the furnace. 40 ferrets is chilly. ---

My mother had an “immature” uterus and had to have shots for several years before she had me. I have no idea what that means, nobody bothered to explain that sort of thing to women back then. I was born a couple of years after the Korean war treaties were signed. Dad was born on 7/27 and died the same date. I still miss him. While I was checking in at the surgeons office, they asked if I was having feelings of wanting to hurt myself or others. I said I’ve been wanting to bitch-slap a couple of my sisters for years. She gave me a _ **look** _ and then checked no. The PA was super impressed with my progress and said she wished more of her patients did their homework. I still have to go back in two months which is disappointing. I don’t have to go back to PT, but I do need to work on my my upper body strength. After that, we went to the decent Mexican place and got served BIG margaritas. We always have communication issues in mexican places, our spanglish is useless this side of the country. We stopped at Aldi on the way home and the entire aisle of shame was empty except for the first rack by the cash registers. When I pointed it out to Hubs, he just rolled his eyes and tried to move me on. He doesn’t get the whole Aldi thing, but he’s cute Speaking of which, we are being proactive over his heart issues. His family has always died of heart problems, his father died of congestive heart failure at 88 years of age. His mother died … (anti-vax, caught the flu and ended up in the hospital. Diagnostics showed heart failure and instead of allowing her to recover, they cut her chest open and she died on the operating table. I say she died because of the flu but Hubs disagrees. I think the flu took his father as well, but…) during heart bypass surgery when she was 84. Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put where it stays until it gets dirty again. Then it was high RDOS sloth and nappage time. Then we day drank and I made sup which was most nummy if’n I say so myself and there’s leftovers for tomorrow. I have not been aboe to Fat Bear vote at all today as the site seems to be in permanent crash status. **MetalMouse** our laundry is co-mingled. Does that look dirty all typed out to y’all, or is it just me? Underwear is no problem cause I like boxers and he likes briefs. The white ankle socks both of us like all live in the same drawer, so no biggy there. The tshirts and shorts we like to wear around the house are no biggy either. Slacks and dressy shirts, we know the ones that belong to each of us. All the dressy socks also live in the same drawer. We also know which jeans belong to each of us. **Knotty** I wonder what the smell of pot brownies would do to the chance of a sale. **rocker** I tend to be a borin’ eater as well. At a few places we eat, I am almost surprised that my order isn’t placed in front of me when I sit down. **Mollie** I only ever find cube steak at the Food Kitty or the Pig. Publix is too high falutin’ for such things. **52** window time will take it all out of a kitteh! **Oopsie** sounds like the perfect bday evenin’ to me. For a lot of my irk life I started at seven a.m., so I would be in bed no later than nine-thirty p.m. on irk nights. Even now, stayin’ up until ten p.m. makes me feel like I stayed up late. ---

Doc says that kidney function is almost back to normal and they’re going to set me up with an MRI to measure progress. Keep your appendages crossed that this nightmare is almost over! ---
