I think I can get her paid for this, but have to wait until tomorrow to get started on that. She had Harry out on the back porch today and his raven was a happy bird. It’s getting dark now and I’m going to head to bed early. My eye is still sore and scratchy feeling and needs to stay still and sleep so it can heal and stop being owie. FTR, no pain meds have been involved although I did take a couple of ibuprofen with coffee for the headache. Cataract surgery doesn’t include pain, just very minor and petty annoyance. If I wasn’t such a weenie, I’d be up for a couple more hours. I’ll try to check in before heading to the capital tomorrow. Hubs and I used to ride with the Patriot Guard and stand between the grieving families and the phelps haters. I’ve been coaching folks on peaceful resistance, if things go south tomorrow, it won’t be for lack of effort on my part. ---

Made the grocery run and packed a couple of boxes. I also talked to Sis. Since it’s rained there all day, she’s going to check out how well the different complexes faired flooding wise tomorrow. That may narrow down the list. Neighborhood will likely narrow it down further. Then she’ll schedule tours as needed. Now for chillage. ---

And we certainly have enough orange flavor-aide being consumed already. So the storms hit. Thunder and lightning, very very frightening! We’ve gotten almost an inch of rain in less than an hour, this is the first time I’ve been able to hear our metal roof being metal. It’s kinda neat, but I was hoping to get some sleep and GG does NOT like it when things get loud like that. It can’t go on much longer, the clouds can’t really hold that much…can they? ---

(no cinnamon rolls at breakfast, no soft ice cream snacks, no cookies every time we pass the tray) I do think for the first time we’ll me making an effort to visit the fitness center on at-sea days. The other days we’ll be walking around touring. I was only there a week, but it made an impression! We heard a major downpour earlier and when I looked out just a bit ago, I saw a flash of lightning and I could tell it’s still raining, tho not as hard. According to accuweather, it’ll be sunny for the NoKings rally in Solomons. I need to remember a hat. For now, tho, I think I’ll toddle back to bed. ---

I irked. Mrs. L.A. took the day off. She made a protest sign (‘Resistance becomes ➡ Duty’), and then went off to help hang a banner on an overpass and show the American and Mexican flags. After irk I fed the cats, went to the credit union, hit up the new Trader Joe’s, and then got onto the southbound freeway a few miles to make a U-turn. On the way back north, I came to the pedestrian overpass. I pulled over onto the shoulder and honked my horn and waved. When she got home, Mrs. L.A. told the woman she’d been talking with, ‘That’s my husband!’ She said she saw my dark blue-and-white hibiscus aloha shirt, so she knew it was me. I told her that I wore that shirt and my shiniest watch so that she could see me. (Not that white Priuses are particularly ubiquitous. She probably would have recognised the car.) Anyway I continued on, stopped at a supermarket, and got home only a few minutes before she did. ‘No Kings’ rally mañana. It’s not until 15 o’clock, though. I suggested we have breakfast at the new breakfast place at the VFW. ---

I keep starting to post and then getting interrupted somewhere around chapter 5. Maybe if I keep this shorter, I can actually get it posted. IN the good news department, the corneal specialist says I’ve been stable long enough that I only have to see him ONCE A YEAR! Woo-hoo! It’s been 37 years since I was on an annual schedule. I’m thrilled. I was hoping the retinal doc would do the same, but he said though the glaucoma is stable, I have a history of too many scary things for annual visits. However, He’s put me on semi-annual visits, and I’m happy with that. I feel almost like a Normal Person! Max’s owner found out from people at the doggy day care that she wasn’t paying me nearly enough. She decided to pay me more, but because she’s so cash-strapped, she was going to just not walk Max as much. He’s 18 months old and needs walking. My dad charged quite a bit less than the going rate for wills and things because his clients were mostly blue collar workers who couldn’t afford higher fees. I don’t think I can do any different for dog walking. Yesterday I saw two bluejays pretending they were Blue Angels. So cool. I miss bluebirds. We had a few on our acreage in Wyoming. I also miss cardinals, which I haven’t seen since my Illinois childhood. I’m good to go for the rally tomorrow. They’re expecting 5,000, but I think there’ll be more. My daughter lives in Spokane. A protest turned violent there the other day because ICE escalated it after they detained two legal, hard-working immigrants for zero reason. She’ll be going to the protest there.I hope she stays safe. **Swampy** , I’m so sorry about your friend. A belated Happy Dopeversary, **Boo**! And Happy Belated Birthday, **flyboy** and **VanGo**! Happy Birthday, **Coppertone**! Yesterday was an interesting day. MusicMan and I were supposed to go to Columbus to help his younger son move into his first apartment. Instead, MusicMan went without me. My mom had taken two medicines together that she normally doesn’t combine and her blood pressure and pulse were very, very low. So I didn’t want to leave her alone. By the end of the day she was back to normal and feeling better. MusicMan had a good time going to see and help his boys. And they took him out to dinner for Father’s Day to Dairy Queen. 🤭 Still, it was nice of them to do so. Then he wandered his way back home and didn’t get back too late. I think that my interview went well but we shall see. Oh, and the best and sweetest thing that happened was that my best friend called said that she’d like to come down and take me out to lunch next week the day after my birthday! I’m so looking forward to it. But, I don’t think I’ll make her drive all the way down here, I’ll probably just pick somewhere in Canton and meet her there. Not sure what we’re going to be up to today. Maybe a movie or something. ---

For those protesting … Yesterday I passed a gaggle of 20-some people protesting something. At the intersection of two two-lane each way urban roads. Everyone was carrying a sign with illegibly small writing. The only words I was able to recognize as I dribbled past at 15mph were “trump” and “honk”, each on different signs. I have no idea if this was a pro or anti-trump group. I suspect, from the relative paucity of red, white, and blue, that they were anti-trump. But I came to that thought 2 blocks after I’d passed them. _Nothing_ from their signs was usefully conveyed to the passing cars. So I was unable to honk in support since I sure didn’t want to honk in support of a pro-trump group. if you’re going to protest at roadside, make a sign about 3x4 feet, that says something very short & simple (I suggest “fuck trump”) in plain block uppercase letters at least 8" tall with at least 1-1/2" stroke width, and be done with it. 100% of anything more elaborate is pure waste only meaningful to your fellow protesters. ---

Mornin’ all - ‘Tis a bit after sunrise as I start to drivel. Weather like yesterday and tomorrow: presently 83/28 on the way to 90/32 and now a light breeze. It was above 80 when I started balconatin’ at 0530. Perfect. The sun is now playing hide and seek with the puffies and soon I’ll be driven indoors by the blast of light. My live music last night was good, had interesting yaks with a lady who knew some of the performers and was herself a singer around town. Fun to get an insider’s view of the gig scene here. It being a day ending in “Y” I have no chores or obligations to speak of. The krinkly-feeling skin in the middle of my back suggests today I should skip the beach; that’s the one spot I can’t apply sunscreen, so I’d have to wear an SPF shirt. And what’s the point in beaching if you can’t be mostly exposed to the great god Ra while absorbing the life-giving warmth? Weird dream last night - I was going to direct a production of _1776_ but I only had 5 others with me - so everyone would have to do multiple roles. But worst of all, I couldn’t find a pad or paper and I lost my pen!! Can you imagine?!?!? Despite a pretty good night’s sleep, I woke exhausted. Theater will wear a body out! (As if I had any idea.) I need to check the email again - I think I’m supposed to be there at 10, but it might be earlier (just checked - 10 it is.). I’ve got a NoKings t-shirt that I ordered on line. I was going to make a sign, but I didn’t. They said they’d have stuff there to do one, so maybe I’ll try that. I’ll pass Aldi on the way home and I thought about stopping there, but I’m not going to provoke a confrontation, not that I know for sure. But this part of the state is pretty red and I don’t want to deal with crazies one-on-one. As it is, we’ll be on the side of the road, and I’ve heard tales of drinks being flung at protesters… OK, to get to the rally at 10, I need to leave here about 9:20 - a bit over 2 hours from now. No rain expected till this afternoon, so I’m good there. I need to remember to spray my legs with insect repellent - ticks are thick already. And I need a hat. And some water. So I need to finish my computer time and get in gear. Happy Saturday and Happy No Kings Day!! ---

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 21c/70f with no predicted change, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Just think, if it gets any fucking warmer outside, there will also probably be more fucking hornets.” There might be, and there might not. That is most excellent news, I am thrilled for you too. And semi-annual visits with the retinal doc sounds like a good compromise so he can make sure everything is still good. I had a pretty good sleep last night on the new mattress, and 'im indoors did not fall out of bed. He was a bit concerned about that because the old mattress had quite a firm ridge around the edge and the new one does not. I had to remind him that I offered to take him to the bed shop to test out mattresses but he declined the offer, so 'tis his own fault if he falls out. I was up reasonably early today, went to the gym and was so overheated by the time we finished, I came straight home instead of stopping off at the pet store. I have put some dye on my hair instead, and after that’s done its thing, we’ll head off for lunch at Jack’s and then pick up cat litter and Muffin food at the pet store, then I need to stop off at the supermarket to get petrol before the Middle East implodes and fuel prices skyrocket…and will also pop into the supermarket for some fizzy pop and some salad veggies. We have no other plans so might take a wander back towards town via a juicer or two, as we did last week. It worked out pretty well so could be a good plan for the afternoon.
