thursday was another errand day, medical errands. it was a bright, no clouds in the sky, crystal clear morning. starting with a breathing test (yep, i am indeed breathing), and allergy shots. then off to find another pcp, stopped in the office. got an appt. in nov. to see if i like the doc.. a disappointing lunch, usually the diner type place does a good cheeseburger, yest. not so good. fries were good. then on to the office where my pcp retired from to get records transfered. i forgot to go to the pharmacy, figured that out hours after the pharmacy closed. on to dry cleaners and started laundry. got out some halloween decor for the flat. sat with lager between laundry loads. finally a condo meeting and adding halloween decor to the lobby. friday is a misty day. the cloudless thursday became cloud full in the late afternoon followed by rain. i do like misty over other rainy adjectives. you don’t get as wet and your shoes don’t fill with water. looks like the wet and dreary conditions will continue until mid-morning saturday. there is a possiblity that we will break the rainy sunday streak in phila. ---

Good morning. It’s 47F, dark, and mostly clear with some high clouds. It’s forecast to be mostly cloudy to partly cloudy for much of the day, but by mid-to-late afternoon it should be sunny, with a daytime high of 72F. A little rain moves in overnight, and daytime highs will drop back to the low 60s and 50s over the next 10 days. Many No Kings protests are happening around here, and surprisingly, even a few on the eastern side of the state. I’m not sure I’ll go, since we might be heading down to my son’s place. However, we’ll be driving past one of the protests, and I always honk my horn in solidarity. **Doggio** , I hope your PC has finally been delivered. I have both an iPad and my phone, but I prefer typing on my desktop PC and keyboard. I only got the kitchen done yesterday. My stomach started giving me some serious issues, so I just decided to chill out and relax. It was like a cross between extreme heartburn and nausea most of the day, but I am feeling much better today. As for German restaurants, all the good ones have disappeared. We had several in the 70s and 80s, and a few standouts. There was the Bavarian downtown, but it got sold; there was one in University Place, and another in Lakewood. An excellent one sat up on Ehli Hill, overlooking the Puyallup Valley, and served the food I grew up with, along with game. It was my favorite in both quality and vibe. They’re all gone now. I was grateful the Seahawks lost because it meant no fireworks around here. I know that sounds mean, but every win ends in fireworks going for an hour after the game. It’s just dumb and selfish, and my dog suffers the rest of the night. **Mollie** , congrats to Squeaky! I didn’t have a high school ring. I toyed with buying one that had my birthstone, but they were expensive, and my mother couldn’t afford it either. In the end, I’m glad I didn’t get one. As for all the acronyms and military slang, I picked them up because I worked for the military for most of my career. Well, I suppose I should get going. I’m going to finish my coffee and then get the day started. I need to dust and rollsuck, along with running the dishwasher. The dogs are out of doggy ice cream, so I may need to run to the store to restock. Please take care of yourselves. ---

Gosh darn it, I can’t attend either as Daughter & Hubs have plans so DG and Bella will also come over and we’re planning a 3-1/2 mile walk in the woods, then I’m making stuffed bell peppers, sweet potatoes and homemade apple sauce. Then there’s a dutch apple pie with ice cream for dessert. But I’m going to a rally for Abdul El-Sayed with AOC and Ayanna Pressley this afternoon! It was a very surprising start to the day. Hubs was up, dressed and ready to go to Kroger by 8:20. This has never happened before and the possibility that it will again is very slim. I think that he did that today because as soon as I’m done typing and posting this, I am leaving for a funeral service for the mother of my previous Deputy Director. Kroger was great. If you go at the crack of dawn, there’s hardly anyone there. Found a bag of 3 bell peppers, 2 yellow and 1 orange for $1.50. Daughter cannot eat green bell peppers so now I’m set for her. Hubs grabbed 3 bags of Halloween candy; first it was 50% off, then I had a digital coupon to take off an additional 33%. So, we’re all set for 100+ little goblins. Everythings put away and I’ve updated the soup inventory, yes we bought 4 more cans (32 cans total in the house now), so I can say Have as good a Day as possible and scoot out the door. ---

Good morning! Beautiful red oak leaves on our street, plus beautiful orange and yellow hues. Migrating birds for teh kittehs to enjoy and T-cat to ek-ek at (S-cat does not ek). Ballots taken to the main indoor drop box, PO box mail collected, breakfast out with my lovely wife. Then editing, a writing group meeting, and who can say what other wonders? Maybe mowage if the grass is dry enough. ---

And an updated morning report; shopping has been completed and my finances have been depleted some, but it is all put away in it’s proper place and I have a full load of laundry in the washer, to be followed by the shirts and then we’ll see. I have an electric blanket to preheat my bed and an electric throw for when I’m reading on the couch of an evening. Of course there also a Siamese cat that is happy to drape herself across my bosom. Man, yesterday was a drag. I think the changes in weather really mess me up, as I’ve noticed that sudden barometric drops make me achy and tired. We had heavy rains all day. High winds today as the system blows itself out, and my energy level is higher. I even made it to exercise this morning. It’s noticeably cooler (47F at 1100) and I had to turn on a portable heater upon arising, as the building heat is not yet on. Sadie has been sitting and staring at me for the last ten minutes, so I’m assuming her food plate is empty. Off to serve the master of the house. ---

Afternoon. Having a bit of a grumpy day; I really need to get the kitchen replaced, it’s ancient, awfully designed and the counter got sawed in half when they fitted the heating system\[1\]. I’ve had a couple of attempts to get a quote, but we have a major shortage of irkmen who do such things, so I’ve had several say they’ll come and measure then never show up, two who came and measured up then ghosted me, and not one single quote. I’m getting a bit sick of it. Then an Ikea opened up nearby, which advertises a measuring and fitting service- I went there a while back. Slightly higher price than I could probably get elsewhere, and there’s a £35 fee for measuring, but at this point I just need to get it done. So, I made another trip out to have a look at the designs in the shop and book the measuring service… and they don’t actually have a measuring service. I pointed out that it’s literally advertised _all over_ the store that this is something they offer, but they just shrugged and said ‘Yeah, that’s just a thing in the big stores, not here. We can do installations, and they measure when they come to install it if they don’t think it’s right’. Even the other customer the staff member was talking to interrupted to agree with me that it was ridiculous. I’m not ripping the whole kitchen out then having someone come round to install a new one based on my amateur measurements, because this is not something I normally do, nor do I know the regs so I also risk getting them going ‘Ohhh, no, sorry, that can’t be installed there’ because I didn’t know something wasn’t allowed. So now I’m back to square 1. Again. \*Grump\* * * * 1. which is on, and set to 17C, for those keeping records ---

**fly boy** I’ve never worked a job where I got the day after T Day off. It’s not a federal holiday and everyplace I’ve worked followed the fed schedule. Saw the PA about my shoulder/ac joint. I had a cortisone shot 6 months ago and it worked a treat. The pain came back over the weekend. She recommended an MRI to see if my rotator cuff is involved. I trust her so the MRI with contrast will be performed. I did not have a high school class ring. I don’t remember why I did not get one. I don’t think it was a thing in my high school. I did not get a college class ring either although I wish I had had had. I suppose I could buy one now. ---

Sheesh, that should be obvious!!! Seriously, the last batch I did last year was to use up the last bits. Then a few months ago, I wanted to make more, so I ordered a metric buttload. Then I went to WalMart and bought some more, but not quite enough, hence the need for more. Making these is therapeutic on top of it being a good deed. Anyway, now I have one huge skein of red and two smaller skeins of purple because my sweetie wanted to make sure he got me enough. Which he did. And I can use the leftovers on other blankets! 😉 I had an email that was an early invitation to an upcoming Trump rally because I’m apparently a Patriot - capital letter theirs. I don’t know why the GOP emails me anything - I’m not one of them, nor have I been for more than 50 years. And even then, I just picked it because my dad was Republican. As an aside, I’m glad he’s not alive to see what his party has become. It’s been a kitchen day. I made some cole slaw, semi-cheat style. I use Mazetti’s dressing and jazz it up with onion powder, celery salt, and pepper. I also shred carrots to mix with the cabbage. It should be very tasty tomorrow - one must let it sit overnight. I also made a big pot of veggie-beef-barley soup. We’ll have some for supper and the rest will be bagged and frozen for future meals. And I ran the dishwasher! And did 3 loads of laundry. _Soooooo_ domestical! Just back from Food Lion, awaiting word from Daughter that they’re enroute. So temporary chillage time.
