Ten slats are nailed to two crosspieces. Taller end slats have two slots each in them, and tongues on the crosspieces are glues into them. As for the legs, I don’t have (or know how to use) a lathe so I can make tapered legs. But Amazon has some. The table currently has legs about 11 or 11½ inches in length. Amazon has [12-inch legs](https://www.amazon.com/Furniture-Replacement-Projects-Armchair-Cabinet%EF%BC%88Set/dp/B09H3ZDZDG?th=1) that look simple to attach. What I don’t know: What kind of wood should I use? Ash? Pine?
