Fed, puzzled and exercised. Nice and sunny today. Yesterday’s visit with daughter and niece was nice. The two of them only met once back in 2009 and enjoyed getting to know each other. Took the niece to lunch later. My daughter let slip the alarming news that my eldest son is Republican. I had no idea - which may be a good thing, as it likely means he’s not a fringe lunatic. She said that he’s not a Trumper, which is also a good thing, but I’m shocked that he is a righty, given the politics he grew up around. I’m not going to bring it up with him, as I don’t want to start a feud, but I’m disappointed. If he turns out to be a Trumper, I’ll disown him; seriously. ---

Car has been dropped off. I came prepared for 2-3 hours, when they said it would be 5-6 I took them up on the ride home and will stay encamped here until they call. So a lot of Moanday stuff may get shuffled off too later in the week. Meanwhile I’ll get the heavyweight comforter out of the back closet and install it on my bed and maybe do some other house chores (who am I kidding, I’ll be sitting at the computer for the next 4 hours). My watch died the other day, so I got a new one. I haven’t yet taught this one all my pill-time alarms, so there’s that to do. Parkinson’s Disease gives you a lot of pill times. ---

A light Monday. Which was a good thing, because I was loading, but spent an hour anna half on the sort table. I did my Aldi run after work, $32 since I only needed rice, potates, and nuts. I’ve had my oatmeal(apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, and Agostora bitters), and Spot’s had his dry, flavorless bits. The rain has cease. Time for a nap. I made a quick run to Food Lion, the credit union, and CVS - all within visual distance of each other, so not a major trek. I scored a nice, used hunk of London Broil which has been divided into 3 pieces, vacuum-sealed, and tucked in the freezer. I also picked up a piece of Red Velvet cake for **FCD** ’s b-day. I figure the two of us will share it and its calories. It’s his birthday, dammit!!! 🎂 He’s in his shop, the dog is outside, too, so I’m going to have some quiet crochet time. ---

It’s a concert week (symphony), so I’ll be busy. Skipping tonight’s rehearsal (chamber chorus) because I can miss one rehearsal per concert. That will help a little. I’m glad we got the kittens, but sometimes I also wonder what we got ourselves into. This morning I was making a smoothie; I put a measuring cup in the sink and Ash jumped up to lick it off, and while I was dealing with that, Hazel jumped up behind me and went straight for the smoothie cup. Dealt with her: rinse and repeat. They also ate a chunk of my bread last night. ---

Happy Moanday! Between dogs and the worst migraine in years, I haven’t been able to check in. I shall skip further mention of the dogs and any mention of my back. The big excitement last week for me was that I heard such loud pounding, I went to the peephole to make sure it wasn’t on my door. It was the door across the hall, the one belonging to the matriarch of a very large, LOUD and loving Hispanic family. And it was guys in black uniforms. I was afraid it was ICE, but one turned, and I saw his uniform said he was city police. They pounded twice more, yelling that they were the police, but nobody answered, so they drove away in a city police car. I have no idea what that was about, especially because it was in the morning, and there hadn’t been any loud music in a few days. I hope everyone’s OK. My daughter was an acolyte for two years at our Catholic Church. She loved it. My brother was an acolyte clear back when they were called altar boys. They were supposed to pour just a small amount of wine into the chalice, as it was a populous parish (14+ Masses every Sunday), so priests often had to say 3-5 masses per Sunday. Sometimes they’d deliberately pour in more than they were supposed to, and the priest would mutter at them. JtC, I’m appalled and angry that you got arrested. As always, I salute your courage and determination, but since when is standing on the sidewalk near the capitol in handmaiden garb a crime? I hope your doc can get you in to see an ortho guy sooner rather than later. It sounds like that shoulder is a mess. Gotta get you back to doing the Power to the People salute with either arm! And if you’ve seen bona fide chanterelles (as I’m sure you have!) it’s all but impossible to confuse them with the faux variety. The similarities are superficial, and you’re much too careful. Now thinking about making a meat loaf for dinner tonight and sandwiches another day. Ollie is recovering from his every-other-day medicated bath. It’s my latest effort to address his itchy skin. The Cytopoint injections and Apoquel don’t seem to help at all. I have to leave the shampoo on him for 10 minutes after lathering, so that’s fun for us both. But wonder of wonders, it seems to help. I’m encouraged enough to keep it up. This is what currently constitutes excitement in my gripping life. 😉 Hope everyone has the best week they can! ---

I finally made carbonara with pancetta instead of bacon. Big difference in flavor. I’ve never seen guanciale in a local butcher shop, either here or in Portland, but this must be a decent substitute. ---

So, the 5+ hour car work only turned out to be a little more than 2 hours, so I Uber’ed back over there (my choice, they would have picked me up, but Uber was faster). The new running boards look neat and gives my foot something to do that it is used to. Gave them sums of money and then drove to do my shopping and samimich routine–but got a ‘giant’ size sammich to take home so I could have something pre- and post games. Came home and booked two soccer games tonight (both as a sideline ref) and then collected some mail stuff and some laundry stuff and my gym bag and took off again. Mail and laundry were easy, got to the gym…and I had packed my sweatpants instead of my gym stuff, and by the time I finished cussing myself and made it home, the timing was just not right for both gym exercise and soccer. So home again and have eaten 1/2 of the Jersey Mike sammich with the other half awaiting my return sometime around 9pm tonight. Just hope I make it through the games, my bladder, after exemplary behavior all weekend is now making me go whenever I stand up after sitting down for awhile, and it is not taking ‘wait a minute’ for an answer. Since I’ll be on my feet for the soccer games and there are restroom next to the field, I am not expecting any ‘emergencies’, but we’ll see. **Knots** , never knew you had Parkinson’s, I can imagine the pill routine must be somewhat torturous. Been lucky so far, only two pills a day and both first thing in the morning. **Pavo** , kittens are both inqusitive and also have the feline instinct (“what’s mine is mine and yours is mine, too, if I decide it is”). Good luck. **nellie** , interesting activity about your place; might have been a noise complaint or maybe something else… And need to watch a bit of TV (make the Neilsen people happy) before dressing for the evening’s soccer matches. If so, that may be the issue. You’re not perspiring as much, plus you body isn’t attempting to rid itself of fluid that it has to keep warm with the rest of your carcass. I could get into my BIL’s truck if there were no running boards. The running board is too high for me to use as a step (only a couple of inches below the door frame) and too far out for me to reach the _oh shit_ bar to help myself in. He made a small wooden step for me to use when I ride with him.. Is it any wonder he’s my favorite BIL? I went out rambling the neighborhood today. I followed the street that FoodTown and Giant Dollar are on (Victory / Little York) and found another FoodTown and Giant Dollar a mile down the street. They were smaller stores than the first ones, but I think it’s one of those pairings like Ross and Home Goods stores are. Da Jungle just delivered a package and when I opened the door to get it, Nelson saw an old man (one of my neighbors) walking between my car and the next one and began barking his fool head off. He even went out onto the walkway and made the old man verrrrrrrry cautious. I assured my neighbor that he didn’t bite, but was protecting the car and he just chuckled. ---

Howdy Y’all! We did not get shorn as OYKW woke up all sinusy and decided to go back to bed with Ben. When he rewoke (is too a word, I just made it up!) the motivation to do so was gone. I must tomorrow, however. One mustn’t have shaggy hair at convention! So we practiced our RDOS skilz. The biiiiiig trash can got hauled all the way back up the driveway to where it lives. Sup got fixed and et and the kitchen cleanded up as well. **JtC** yikes about the lockup and the shoulder! Always remember us Mumpers are always characters who can be witnesses. ---

That’s why I always spray my counters down with food safe sanitizer (Star-san) before preparing food. And then I don’t put food on the counters anyhow, I use cutting boards and plates. The only relief we could give him suppressed his immune system which wasn’t great for a cat that came pre-loaded with FIV. They want to scare us off and a few of us won’t be back. I will say that carrying a burner phone with only three numbers made them huddle around and discuss how to deal with me - the numbers were called Lawyer, Husband and Catsitter. It was the Lawyer entry that seemed to worry them. We will be talking to my lawyer tomorrow.
