Selfish asshole. Wickenburg hasn’t changed much, the billboard entering town is still proudly announcing the impending Arby’s…just as it has every year since I retired. There are new houses on the north side and two roundabouts before you get to the twisty two lane highway up the White Spars. The bar at the old whorehouse in Skull Valley still advertises hourly room rates. I don’t know if you have ever been in there, but the very small rooms still have the narrow iron beds with springs that squeal and squall and squeak with every change in weight. And the mattresses are lumpy. And everyone in the bar knew just what was going on because the walls were old, thin hand-hewn pine boards. The only reason anyone would pay a large amount of money (50 an hour now which made both of us clutch our pearls.) to bounce on one of those beds was because someone brought a floozy and gave them compliments and drinks. They make really good burgers. ---

Depending on which weather site one believes, it’s either going to be cloudy or rainy today, tho they all agree on temps in the lower 60s. I may or may not be taking the kids to the playground. I’m just glad it’s my last kid day this week. Then we have 4 days closer to normal May weather, and the first item on our agenda is a second coat of wax on the hull, since we’re not going in the water till maybe next week. **FCD** said the stern thruster was installed yesterday - so pics tomorrow. Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. **YAWN** ‘Tis 47 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 80 and N.O.S. for the day. Today is a high sloth and general overall uselessness day. Sup shall be grilled chikin tenders, sallit and cheesey garlic bread. **Shades** I use canned salmon. I add some flour and cornmeal, chopped onion, a couple of aigs, and a little salt and pepper, form into patties and fry ‘em up. Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 15c/58f with a predicted high of 16c/61f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Look on the bright side. It’s only cloudy. At least you’re not on fire. That’s fucking good, right?” I’d agree with that, but also, it’s sunny out there with a little bit of cloud in the sky so pretty decent really. **Wheelie** Murph looks great, you’ve done a fantastic job there. It will be useful to have the bed stored away when it’s not in use so you can do what you want with the space. **Seanette** good to see you back again! I’ve been to visit the Book of Faces and joined Buddy’s new group to keep up with his adventures. **swampy** that gave me the kind of mental image that will keep me laughing for ages 🙂 Nothing exciting in my day today, I had a meeting this morning which was not too bad although it’s generated one for tomorrow as I need to raise some issues with someone else. Other than that, I’m pottering through my day doing bits and pieces of stuff. Not bad for a Thursday. July trip planning is coming along, we have a potential route for our travels and an idea of where we’re staying/how many nights, and I have a downloaded guide book to look at. Fun times! ---

Morning all. Another pretty day with temperatures heading to 75F. Thinking about mowing the lawn, there is about a 45% chance of rain this weekend when I planned on mowage, so we’ll see how much ambition I can work up. Also need to get to Staples and Kohl’s for some shopping this AM, and maybe some gym time before soccer practice, but otherwise should be a quiet day. **Seanette** , always good to see you round these parts. **Sensei** , enjoy the sights. **FCM** , had to look up nerf bars, interesting name for them. **doggio** , May 4th for me is the memory of the shooting at Kent State in 1970; I was a Senior in High School about 12 miles from there and ended up attending KSU the next year so the memory is still with me. **JtC** , pretty pictures and glad you and Hubs got out for awhile. Tragic loss, so many of us do silly things, but survive them (mostly). Sympathy to his wife and the other driver. And eating burgers in an old whorehouse…I envy you. **Pilot, flyboy** , longest flight I ever did in coach was Sydney, Australia to Dallas, Tx, 16+ hours–did not take measurements of my butt at the time… **flyboy** , don’t have tractor ruts, but I’m thinking of redoing my lawn, it’s getting rather dead-looking and has a few bumps and holes in it. Good morning, kids! Apparently there’s a nonzero chance that the state governor will visit the campus today? I wouldn’t mind shaking his hand, his administration is vigorously trans-rights-y and he seems like a decent guy. I got the library thoroughly tidied yesterday, so today I’m mostly twiddling my thumbs unless and until he shows. Then tonight I’ll be packing my bags and doing a last bit of housekeeping at home before my little trip to scenic Pennsylvania. I’m a pretty meticulously tidy sort, but my mom’s gonna come stay with me for a week after graduation, so. Mornin’ all! I’m unpacking from our install trip last week. It’s nice to have my tools back where they belong. Discovered I have a bunch of stuff that belongs to the other guy. Mornin’ all. Late morning here. Coffee and breakfast onboard, sheveled, and now pissing away the day in my usual fashion w y’all. My on-call irkage today was silent and I’m now into my 2-1/2 days off. Her Ladyship awoke feeling off, so has gone to her PCP for a walk-in visit. Meantime I’m bach-in’ it. As to the crane, the operator is on duty up in his cab, but the crane has not moved all morning. There are two men sound asleep on the tower landing about 8 stories up where they’d left the staging gizmo overnight. Work is proceeding normally within the building as best I can see. So it sorta looks like they’re supposed to disassemble more of the crane today but that crew is waiting for workmen or tools or something. Otherwise a lovely day here in paradise. ---

My eyeballs are tired. I stayed up late last night like a genius. A bang woke me up at 4:35 a.m. (never figured out what it was), then I was mostly awake until my alarm went off at 5 a.m. for my twice-weekly waddle. Overlyboy turned 17 yesterday - huzzah! Mom wasn’t able to join us for dinner, but yesterday seemed to be a better day than than the previous. She’ll be coming by for a small celebration Sunday. She’s slowing down a lot - getting to and from radiation wipes her out, even though it’s late enough in the day that past mom would’ve been scandalized at current mom getting dressed only at 11. She comes home and sleeps for 2-3 hours, or until I call and wake her up, which worries me. I’m impressed she’s able to get to her appointments under her own power, but my sister & I are going to talk to her about the relative safety of her living alone and driving at this point. She can, but can and should don’t always coincide. It’s bright and beautiful outside and supposed to get really warm. I’m very glad. It was in the upper 30s this morning when we waddled. I have one difficult meeting and several easy ones today. The difficult meeting is telling someone they didn’t get a job they applied for. It sucks because I think this person was the best for the future version of this job, but not for the right now version of this job. And the future version of the job won’t emerge for about a year. That and the fact that I won’t have time to train them were the only deciding factors. Normally HR covers these discussions but I usually do my own, and this person is incredible and I want to make it clear I’d like them on my team if I get another position. So there. ---

Good morning everyone. It is now 51 degrees, dark and dreary outside. The high will be around 55, and the day will contain rain showers and clouds. The next several days will be the same. I had visions of mowing the lawn yesterday when I signed off my work computer, but Polar needed a bath and Polar baths are _always_ dramatic and traumatic. I bought one of those collapsible pools to use outside. We filled it with warm water so Polar could lie down and soak some crud off. Since his anal cancer surgery, his back end needs washing up because he can’t always retract his anus immediately. Things become messy and crusty, so we have to give him butt baths often, and every so often, he needs a real bath. Getting him up the stairs for a bath and into the tub is really rough on him. So, I bought the pool. I still had to rinse him with cold water, but yesterday afternoon reached the mid-70s so it wasn’t awful. Polar was not happy and the dramatic howling was very impressive. At any rate, I couldn’t mow the lawn after the bath because we dumped the pool on the lawn. Maybe I can sneak a mow in today. Work was…not great, but I am off until Monday, so I’ll concentrate on that. That Murphy bed looks great, **wheelie.** I am debating visiting the plant nursery today just for something fun for me to do. That truck is _purty_. I happen to like deep reds. My Jeep is a deep red. Well, I suppose I should get that kitchen tidied. I slept in for a bit today and am behind in chores.
