Ehrmehgawd I can’t with this day. Strap in, Mumper friends, it’s been a wild ride today. Many f-bombs will be dropped. This is too much drama for my brain, and I have to put it somewhere. This isn’t the most appropriate place, so scroll ahead or clutch pearls as needed, but y’all are the only ones who know enough of my back-stories to understand: Running on about four hour’s sleep, check the mailbox for my Amazon delivery. Yay, it has arrived. Accompanying it, is a letter from the gov. about needing to provide biometrics, for that naturalization certificate request, at an office about an hour (each way) drive away. As a reminder, I’m doing all this because _I don’t have a fucking valid license right now._ Oh, and the appointment was for a couple of days ago - that’s on me, I should’ve checked my mailbox more often - but I was at work during the scheduled appointment anyway. Tried calling about a possible re-schedule, but because it’s a holiday, that’s a solid “nope.” So I don’t know if my request is toast and I have to start all over, in which case, is my five hundred bucks application fee down the drain too? Who knows? 🫠 It’s not like I can get an answer! … speaking of the holiday, my trash _was_ picked up, so good thing I rolled it out. Also in my mailbox was an envelope from mngmt. at my former job at the BBQ joint. I haven’t worked there in over a year, so I open it like it might be anthrax. I find … a check. And not a piddly one, I’m talking over two months rent. 😮 Well, I’m still friendly with a guy who’s still a manager over there - oh, wait, don’t let me skip that extra part - so I text him asking WTF and he replied, and I quote, “Back wages, from stolen tips from former GMs.” Now I don’t know if I went into much detail at the time - this was a bit over a year ago - but they cut our hours so badly that I couldn’t keep the wolves from my door _and didn’t have fucking power for a month_ so once I was working ridiculous (like 8am-10pm) hours later after they re-jiggered hours for what was left of the roster, I didn’t even care, it’s not like I was ever at home anyway at that point. I just charged my phone at work; went home to get a couple hours sleep and clean socks. Now that I’m being paid fair wages at my current (pizza) job and have tamed most of the wolves, _NOW_ they’re paying me what I’m owed? I’m pissed all over again at that place. Ah, and the final mental drama on this shitshow that is my life? … I don’t come off well here, folks, but, okay. Keep in mind, I didn’t get to sow any wild oats in my younger days, so apparently, I’m getting some things out of my system now. You have been warned. So remember I was freaking out last week but being cryptic about it? That - jeebus 22-year-old - manager I used to work with? We, ah, I believe old-timers called it “going parking” last Friday and it was entirely pre-arranged (not a “whoops, where on earth did my pants go?” thing) and while I enjoyed myself thoroughly, it made me realize how compatible **Gentleman Caller** is for me, on mental/emotional levels. So I was mentally chewing on all _that_ (and trying to figure out what to do about this, since the last time I came on kinda strong about liking G.C. a lot he freaked out and disappeared for a while, only to re-emerge months later hat in hand) when all the government and former-job stuff blew up simultaneously - technically, one might solve the other problem - but it’s just a hell of a lot to process. … maybe I’m making a lot out of nothing. But I’m an emotional mess - goddamn this stoopit naturalization certificate thing, I am so pissed I started looking up kickboxing classes (like I have any physical energy left to burn after being on my feet for ten hours) and … … well … … thank you for reading if you stuck with me. I’m not looking for advice or hugs - I understand my problems are of my own creation - but I needed to vent. And there was too much to explain in the mini-rants thread (“Wait, where do you work now?”) so I apologize for raising some Mumper eyebrows. ---

Swimming and sauna done and the scale shows one more pound lost this past week (would be nice if it would go faster, but I refuse to give up everything; starvation is not a plan to lose weight). But at least the numbers are going in the right direction. Nest above my door alcove has chicks again, hope this batch makes it, they all died last year but the first bunch this season all survived. So, things here… It’s been a bit of a rainy day, so I haven’t spent as much time on the porch as in the past. I did take CtE out to go walking this morning. They brought an umbrella and I was very proud of their dedication. When we got home, they helped me color my hair. I’d share a pic, but it never looks as good inside as it does outside. I will share later though. Tonight is the last game for the Con. It’s the only game that **Hubby** and I are playing in together, so I’m looking forward to it. I’ve been sitting far too much so my back is acting up but I have days to rest so it will all be good. Originally I was planning on getting back into cleaning, but I think self care will be higher on the list. That and more reading. I’m in a geeky poly group on the book of faces and actually managed to meet someone that grew up 30 minutes from where I did in New York. We’ve been chatting a lot today, finding we know some of the same people, remembering some of the same places. We’ve got a lot of geekiness in common and I’m just loving finding a new friend to talk to. I’ve actually made a couple of friends through the group and I’m enjoying having someone new to talk to. It’s helping make MFN’s silence a little easier. Now I’d better go figure out supper before the next game begins. I should be back to normal\* tomorrow! \*Read: As normal as I ever get ---

Hiya, pals! I’m home!I had a wonderful time at my son’s and DIL’s. They wouldn’t let me lift a finger, and they kept making scrumptious food. DIL bought some bubble waffles so I could try them. Yum! They’re popular in Hong Kong, where her mom is from, and DIL found a shop that sold them. I probably gained 50 pounds. On the way to their house, son and I stopped at a grocery store, where I hobbled around grasping the cart. We always scuffle at the credit card reader because we both insist on paying. Son was laughing too hard to say anything, but I kept yelling, “I’m the mother! I’m the mother! Ima bite you!” Luckily the cashier thought it was funny and didn’t call security. One of their dogs, Z, likes to snooze completely covered by a quilt. She’s a medium dog (38 pounds) but somehow disappears when under there. I almost sat on her once. And one time, Old Dog jumped onto the sofa and lay down on the quilt. The look on her face when she jumped straight up–“Holy crap! The couch is _moving_!” was priceless. I called the ortho clinic this a.m. to see how many people were on the waiting list. They didn’t know and wouldn’t transfer me to the scheduler, who would know, because I already have an appointment…in 10 days. The TENS unit still isn’t helping. You could just bob around in the water and hold up the signs, and people would still be impressed. **MetalMouse** , I’m stealing that line about the names of the three brain cells. Cracked me up, it did. shoe, dear, the retroactive anger is understandable. That place REALLY screwed you over, and there was nothing you could do or say about it. You never really got closure, so of course you’re still ticked. Maybe think of the money you got like you won it in a lawsuit against them. “Hah! You lose, suckahs!” As for the naturalization papers, hopefully if you call first thing in the morning, you can reschedule before they dispose of your application and the fee–if they would. Tell 'em you had COVID. They probably don’t want you coming in with that. ---
