I survived the party. Weather was perfect, and there were maybe 30 kids including invitees and their sibs. Everyone seemed to have a good time. One kid, John, apparently kissed Roxy at recess in school. Today he gave her a ring and a necklace and a note saying he wanted to watch the stars with her. Need I remind you this is kindergarten?!?!? šŸ˜® Anyway, home and exhausted. Not sure what weā€™ll do for supper. ---

Howdy Yā€™all! Been a very slothful day here at da cave. We had one small shower, as in here and gone in five minutes. Now TWPTB say we shall have rain/tstorms/apocalypse within the hour. We shall see. In cooler news, I saw two woodpeckers this morninā€™. I knew they were around somewhere cause Iā€™ve been hearinā€™ 'em. Today was the first time I actually laid eyes on 'em. Theyā€™re noisy, but purty. **Kitten\_Mitten** throwinā€™ things at my 'puter has always worked in the past. Wonder why it didnā€™t this time. šŸ˜› **MOOOOOOM** and now I, call it ā€œused meat.ā€ **MOOOOOOM** can you blame John for beinā€™ all smitten with RoxStar? ---

Chillinā€™ in the living room, thinking I should finish the plumbing hatch on the bathroom wall, when everything went dark and there was a pop. Itā€™s been a little blustery, but not badā€¦ I thought. [A tree fell on the power lines across the street, and thereā€™s a wire down.](https://imgur.com/a/t9TtF8l) Wifey pointed out some smoke a few minutes ago. PSE just pulled up. The Fire Department has our road closed. The Honda 3 KW generator started on the second pull. I guess turning it off by turning the fuel petcock off and letting it run out is keeping the carburettor clean. Internet and cable should be powered from Xfinitiā€™s battery for a couple of hours. If the powerā€™s not on then, we can watch DVDs. ---

Evening all. Back from the 4pm refereeing, it was U-12 girls so I was figuring 'how hard can it be?" Famous last words as always, both teams played at a breakneck pace and werenā€™t too fussy about people being in their way, so lots of fouls and coaches thinking it was a foul. Add to that I had two new referees as my sideline-refs (assistant refs we call them now) who were doing their first game ever, so I was trying to help them along while controlling the pre-pubescent mayhem on the field. But I survived, even did my Sunday shopping at Wal-Mart and am now finishing my Big Bowl Oā€™Pasta. Only worry is that my right wrist and hand are hurting pretty bad, still have movement and flexibility, just with pain, so will see what a nightā€™s rest does or if I need to see a Doc. And just looking at my mail, got 1 item for me, and three for the hose two doors up the street. Guess Iā€™ll take it over when I finish this, a couple look sorta official. **FCM** , how did Roxy react to the PDA? John is apparently a fast moverā€¦ **swampy** , donā€™t think Iā€™ve seen or heard and woodpeckers recently around here. Hope the rains give you a pass, we have an 80% chance tonight according to the Weather Wizards. **flyboy** , glad you had the backup and that it is hopefully easily repairable. OK, need to play mailman and get some ice on the wrist/hand. Take care all, catch you tomorrow. ETA: Just opened a package that was crammed into my mailbox and found a Whataburger mug, a protein bar, and some Drizzilicious Mini-Rice Cakesā€”Birthday Cake Bites. Undoubtedly from my neighbors who are the nicest people in the world and donā€™t deserve having a grumpy old man as a neighborā€¦ ---

Our building has earth day stuff today. It went well. I was at the plant table and all the starter plants and clay pot went. Whew! Then some of us went to a neighbouring building for their thing. I got to ask our commonwealth rep. about how the human compost legislation was doing. Turns out a rep. who is also big funeral is doing everything he can to keep funerals in the hands of ā€œbig funeralā€ and knocking back anything that will give people an alternative. ---

Hubs is leaving WV tomorrow and will probably be home on Wednesday. GG will be very happy, he wants to get up at 0600 and Iā€™m just not a fan. We are going to buy one of the guest beds from the house sellers so we have something to sleep on while we are waiting for our furniture to arrive. We probably wonā€™t keep it once we get our stuff, but it will make us happier to be in our new house instead of a motel, plus it will be less expensive and we will be able to have two doors between GG and outside until he gets moved in. All of our scratching trees are pretty ratty looking and Iā€™d like to just pitch them and buy new, but GG is going to need some of his furniture as well so weā€™ll bring the least ratty looking one and then replace it next year. Itā€™s finally cooled down to 78F and the sun is down so I should probably go out and pull weeds or something. I think Iā€™m just going to stay here and stitch instead. The weeds wonā€™t run away and I have 40 days to get the yard presentable. It wonā€™t rain again until the monsoons come (if they even do) so Iā€™m not going to have to deal with new growth and Iā€™m currently working with silks. Iā€™d much rather stroke silk than pull weeds any day, LOL! ---

Itā€™s 47Ā° this morning, headed to the mid-50s! Like 20Ā° cooler than yesterday!!! Not sure how itā€™ll affect my plans to finish the raised bed - in the sun it should be comfortable enough. We shall see. I never did clean the critter fountain yesterday, so thatā€™s on todayā€™s list. Anyone here ever buy from Zenni Optical? Iā€™m thinking I might give them a try for future specs - they seem to have better prices and options than what Iā€™m getting even with insurance. Iā€™m still waking at stoopit hours in the middle of the night thinking itā€™s time to get up. All I can figure is Iā€™m dreaming that itā€™s 6:30 when in fact itā€™s barely 2AMā€¦ or something. Itā€™s disorienting to be so certain itā€™s one time, then discover it isnā€™t. At least I generally can fall back to sleep. All righty then. Letā€™s get this day started. Happy Sunday!! ---
