OMG - one of MIL’s neighbors complained that she and her son were moving around in their apartment during “quiet hours” and MIL got a warning letter. When questioned by the staff, the complainer admitted there probably wasn’t anything they could do to be quieter. So What the Everlovin’ F??? Apparently MIL and BIL should go to bed at 9 and not rise till 7. There are no words. ---

Howdy Y’all! An executive decision got made and we went to the hog trough GC for N.O.L. **MetalMouse** I thought about you whle chowin’ down on some pot roast which I wanted real bad today. Thus, sketties leftovers will now be tomorrow’s sup. Nappage followed that and then day drinkin’. We decided to forego quality cee-mint pond time, mostly cause we decided we like the a/c better than the outside today. ---

Afternoon, all! There’s some minor drama happening at work, with both our customer (at the contract level) and with one of my direct reports (at my level), but things seem to have settled down for the afternoon and I have less than 60 minutes to go… This morning, FB reminded me that I graduated from college 30 years ago today. 30 years! There are grown-ass adults out there who weren’t born yet when I graduated! I know I’m one of the younger Mumpers, but this hurts my head. 😕 It’s gym day and my first 6pm personal training session – vs the 5pm sessions I’ve had to date – and it’s nice to have the extra hour. If I don’t get too sweaty I’ll be going to the grocery store afterwards, which will mean not getting back to the house until close to 8pm: that’s kind of late to eat, but maybe I’ll just have a protein shake and some strawberries. I got pretty yucky on Tuesday, though, so we’ll see what today’s session brings. 🙂 It’s definitely August here at the moment, but tomorrow the high is only supposed to be 83°F – and the overnight low is supposed to get down to 60! A “stray shower or thunderstorm is possible” this evening, and I’m hoping for the latter because it’ll help keep the humidity tolerable. I’d love to be able to sleep with the windows open tomorrow night. 🤞 Saturday should be pleasant, with a high of only 84, which will be appreciated because that’s when I plan to tackle most of the third bedroom work. On Sunday we’ll be back to August, with an expected high of 90: I’m going to the mall with my BFF that morning, and hopefully we’ll be able to eat lunch outside before it gets truly hot (she’s immunocompromised, and it’s still better for her to avoid sitting inside at restaurants if possible). In cord-cutting news, Amazon says the OTA antenna will be delivered sometime between tomorrow and Monday. Whenever it gets here, I’ll call Verizon. Afternoon all. Did make it to the gym for some sweating time and stopped at Kroger to use a digital coupon for Diet Pepsi, and am now waiting until after 4pm to start getting dressed for 8U soccer…we have 97 boys (all born in 2017) signed up and if even half of them show up…should make for an interesting night. **lucky** , YOU were doing the vacuuming and the laundry and HE’S huffy? Dude needs to buy you dinner. **nellie** , keep that sense of humor, it will aid you in the days to come. Best wishes for a quick and successful surgery. As for the soccer dropoff, by age 14-15 many of the best players are with their Middle School/High School teams or have joined “Club” or “Travel” teams, thus dropping out of our recreational league. Others have moved on to other sports/interests. And like **Bumba** noted, hormones have started kicking in by then… We have lower girl numbers at most of the ages, I don’t know if we don’t get the word out well enough or if they’d rather be doing something else (kids these days have dozens of options, it seems like, of things to do). Still have over 500 girls playing from 4-19. **FCM** , bet you’re counting the days until Toby gets potty-trained. And damn on the credit card scammer. Can you get a second card from another bank for the just-in-case scenarios? And as for the complaining neighbor, some folks aren’t happy if they are not b\*\*\*\*in’ about somebody else. Sad but true. **Pilot** , enjoy your time with the energy-monster. I’ve been known to say if we could bottle half the energy of kids 8 and under we could solve global warming in a flash. **Cat Glove** , hopefully the Ukraine meetup goes well. Nice of you to think about it. **JtC** , I still pay for a lot of stuff with cash money, probably more than 90% of people do these days. Fortunately my bank is only several miles away and I always give them a note on how I want my cash broken out…about the only thing I write a check for these days. **Shoe** , I’m sure the tips are for your general good-bigheartedness and way of communicating to the folks. But funny anyway. **swampy** , now you’ve given me a gnawin’ and cravin’ for pot roast, but it’s several weeks down the road on my Sunday Dinner menu…may have to amend it… **Oopsie** , all of us are moving through life at the same 60 seconds per minute, but they do pile up suddenly, don’t they? Hi everyone. I’ve been MIA from here during our vacation, rarely did any looking at the Dope let alone MMP. Vacations aren’t particuarly fun for me because they were among the worst times of my childhood. We spent our waking hours trying to avoid any contact with my father, and forced captivity in the family car for endless hours just weren’t fun. My older sister would somehow come down sick every trip to get time during the madness. However, I’ve worked hard to reduce the stree and make sure that my kids have a better experience. After the insane route getting to Atlanta, it took a couple of days to decompress. We had so many good experiences, including kayaking, my son learning how to do a back flip into water (note that this are not related) and then driving thousands of miles to see relatives and friends. Because of sheparding the two adolesents, planning everything and being the only adult along the trip, it was just too much to keep up with things. We’re actually back now is Taiwan for a week before going back to Japan and the reality of life. ---

Cashiers are used to people going all \>\< if we hand them a stack of ones. Chances are, they may be _dying_ to get rid of those onesies. I’ve had days where two-in-a-row customers paid for multiple pizzas _in ones and quarters_. That was a messy drawer. … or, they may just be totally out. (I’ve had corner store clerks lately ask if they can buy any ones or fivers off me, especially if I’m still wearing my work shirt/apron when I stop in. They know I work for tips and often have small paper bills on me. If possible, I oblige.) ETA: there was that one “fun” morning where three (3) customers, in a row _the first orders of the day_ all getting themselves a single small whatever pizza … each handed over a hundred. Not a one even asked, “Hey, can you break this?” Just, “Naah, here’s a hundred dollars for my $16 thing, I’m assuming Bank Of Pizza That Just Opened can totally break that without me even asking, riiiight?” ---

I suspect some of those people are hoping the checkout person will simply say “I can’t break that big bill; just take the item for free.” That scam only has to work rarely to be profitable for the greedy people who practice it. ---

Yikes **czar**! Glad you and yours are OK. Sorry about your hubby’s job **seanette**. Glad yours is still going well. I met with my new lead and supe today to plan out a work flow. We will no longer be dealing with one of our accounts that we had previously, so all of that stuff is leaving our area. We are also picking the receiving and grading inspections that we used to have (I’ve done receiving and have trained on the grading inspections, but don’t have the requisite contrast vision to do it well), so they asked for suggestions for optimum work flow and, given that they are coming from the building next door, who to contact for what. It’s nice to be needed (and respected enough to be asked). I still have to work the stupid OT shift next week, but sometime after that, I’ll go to human hours. 🙂 Meanwhile, Nelson is getting spoiled by Miss Vicky, the sitter who used to live in our complex. She moved to a different complex, but on my way to irk, so she agreed to meet me at the door at 0stupid30 to sit for him. She said that she takes off his harness, he and her dog Max (Nelson’s terrier mix bud) jump into the bed with her to go back to sleep for a couple more hours. Then they go the dog park. If I die, I want to come back as one of the dogs that Miss Vicky takes care of. 😛 Read / skimmed most, remembered squat, so **rosie** ’s sig to all. Stay safe and healthy y’all! ---

Evening all. Spent an hour dealing with fifteen 7-year old boys, they had fun and my throat is sore but I think everyone had a good time. Practices start Monday and our first games are next Saturday (the 26th), so that should keep me busy until the end of October. TruGreen did whatever they do to my lawn, so that is complete. Dinner was the aforementioned double Chee-burger, so I’m stuffed until tomorrow. **Sensie** , welcome home, both to Japan and the MMP. And vacations can be fun, hope they keep going well for you. **shoe** , I often pack a $100 and sometimes a couple $50’s, but only for stuff close to those totals (like gas or my main monthly shopping trip). Using that currency for mundane costs is ridiculous, IMHO. **red** , hope work comes off as well as Nelson does. OK, after 8pm, so need to finish my internettin’ and since I picked up a NY Times at Kroger today, I have some reading and puzzle-solving to while away the time before bedding down. We use plastic for gas and routine shopping, that’s what it is made for. We each have a 50 very cleverly hidden in our owner’s manuals but that is for emergencies. I’ve not worked retail front lines, but I have been in low level retail management and heard enough people complaining about large bills that I refuse to use them and really, there is no reason for us to do so. Our bank asks how we want our cash when we pull it out and most of the ATM’s only have 20’s loaded. My silly TC friend figured out that if we were selling the baby gate for 25 bucks and her classes are 8 bucks each…that she owed me a dollar and I have to remember to only pay 7 bucks for my 4th class. Like that’s going to happen, it’s three weeks in the future and I’ll be lucky to remember in three days. NF’s husband is feeling well enough to want visitors and she has invited hubs and I over when we can all find an unscheduled afternoon at the same time. We are all retired, it shouldn’t be that complicated! The weather guessers are all saying we are going to be getting rain for the next three or four days. It is getting pretty cloudy and it is horrible muggy outside but I’m not convinced that water will actually hit the ground, so I guess I’d better go out and water my posies. ---
