And there’s dinner. I grilled a mahi-mahi patty with Swiss cheese and grilled pineapple for The Wife. I had a grilled salmon burger with Swiss on low-carb bread, Baken-ets, and a small avocado. ---

I admire your dedication to eating properly. I did pretty darn good for a long time, but have largely fallen off that wagon in the last year-plus. I hope to regain my centered state once I’m done irking. But I fear rather the opposite, as the need to stay healthy for irk will stop being a motivator. ---

The visit with my niece was nice. She was late, stayed about 4 hours, we had pizza for lunch, and talked a lot. Though not a lot about the estate stuff. She showed me stuff she had signed and how things were supposed to be. She brought our Christmas presents, and they are very nice. What is confusing is that my sister sent gifts, only my niece wasn’t supposed to tell us that she did. You stole my diamond ring, and then you gave me a sweater for Christmas? My younger niece found stuff that is mine, stuff I had been looking for and figured got lost somewhere. Just sentimental stuff. My niece brought that with her too. There’s also the mysterious flatware. I had flatware at my mother’s house and I couldn’t find it. It was nice, and a pattern I really liked. My younger niece had found a bag of flatware and asked me if it was mine. I couldn’t see the pattern in the picture. My niece brought that out too. It’s not mine, it’s 18/0, made in China. It doesn’t match anything my mother ever had; nobody knows where it came from. I guess it’s mine now. Or maybe I’ll donate it since I don’t really need it. The GR were good. They greeted her at the door, tails wagging, but no jumping. Then crowded around her for a bit. I told her if they were too much to let me know, but she seemed to enjoy playing with them. They were nice and polite when she shared her pizza crust. I’m exhausted and it’s past my bedtime. ---

I cleaned, I laundered, I napped. I ran to the Rich People Aldi for lettuce. I’m having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, and waiting for the poke loin to finish. Agreed, check with your local library and ask about the local Historian Society. Or ask the county if they want them, old attendance records can be priceless when it comes to decendants trying to trace life journeys. (Here in Arizona, Downwinders and their families beg for such things to be properly archived.) I’ve been reading, but got lost in needle and thread while watching the storms pass us by. BFF and hubs came over for burgers today and it was good to see them both. Herk is always entertaining and automatically projects his voice so Hubs can actually hear him and have a conversation. Not surprising considering that Herk is a “professional” (the band often makes enough to pay for hotel rooms, but they are really good with urban camping) punk rock singer who’s day job is construction plumbing. While VBC is really happy that she can sleep with us now, GG still is afraid to go past the door. He’s getting better, today Hubs wanted to soak in the tub and I brought GG in to see what was happening. The poor gormless one was so conflicted, hubs was in the bathroom and he likes hubs. Hubs was in a tub of water and he likes water…but he was raised knowing that there was a monster in there and he’s just too nervous to be comfortable yet. ---

It’s late, I’m pretty sure nobody is up, and it’s the old MMP, so I doubt anyone will see this, but I’ll post anyway because I need advice. My leg got hugely swollen today from the thigh to below the ankle. By “hugely,” I mean the skin is tight, and the leg feels hard, like it’s made of wood. I read that it’s normal to have moderate to severe swelling, so my sister and I thought this was nothing to worry about. In looking over the info they sent with me, though it says swelling in the thigh or calf is an emergency, as it could mean a blood clot, and if it happens, to go straight to the ER. I remember now the surgeon said, “as in immediately.” But my sister is sleeping–She was exhausted–it’s 11:30 PM, and we have no car. And I’d hate to make a big fuss over something that’s not so bad. Surely it can wait until morning since it’s been like this most of today, right? Plus how would we get to the ER? By Uber? And my sister is 8 years older than I and just wiped, so I hate to wake her. I guess I’ll risk waiting until morning. I’m not sure I’ll sleep. though. ---
